  • Low temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) technology using a high power laser have been widely applied to thin film transistors (TFTs) for liquid crystal, organic light emitting diode (OLED) display, driver circuit for system on glass (SOG) and static random access memory (SRAM). Recently, the semiconductor industry is continuing its quest to create even more powerful CPU and memory chips. This requires increasing of individual device speed through the continual reduction of the minimum size of device features and increasing of device density on the chip. Moreover, the flat panel display industry also need to be brighter, with richer more vivid color, wider viewing angle, have faster video capability and be more durable at lower cost. Kornic Systems Co., Ltd. developed the $KORONA^{TM}$ LTP/GLTP series - an innovative production tool for fabricating flat panel displays and semiconductor devices - to meet these growing market demands and advance the volume production capabilities of flat panel displays and semiconductor industry. The $KORONA^{TM}\;LTP/GLTP$ series using DPSS laser and XeCl excimer laser is designed for the new generation of the wafer & FPD glass annealing processing equipment combining advanced low temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) crystallization technology and object-oriented software architecture with a semistandard graphical user interface (GUI). These leading edge systems show the superior annealing ability to the conventional other method. The $KORONA^{TM}\;LTP/GLTP$ series provides technical and economical benefits of advanced annealing solution to semiconductor and FPD production performance with an exceptional level of productivity. High throughput, low cost of ownership and optimized system efficiency brings the highest yield and lowest cost per wafer/glass on the annealing market.

  • In this paper, we studied the application of low pressure ultra-violet (UV) lamps for the development of an energy saving ship's ballast water treat (BWT) device. We proposed the optimal arrangement of UV lamps by analyzing the energy radiated from medium- and low-pressure UV lamps. Based on the experimental results, we manufactured a disinfection chamber which is composed of low-pressure UV lamps. The rated power and the treatment capacity of the chamber are 216 [W] and 10 [$m^3$/h], respectively. This can replace a disinfection chamber treated by two 2 [kW] medium pressure lamps. The disinfection performance, however the power consumption is about one-eighteen compare to the medium pressure UV lamp, is over 94 [%] for bacteria, 93 [%] for zooplankton, and 94 [%] for phytoplankton. Therefore, it would be possible to develop an energy saving BWT device in a low capacity below 100 [$m^3$/h].

  • Chalcogenide Phase change memory has the high performance necessary for next-generation memory, because it is a nonvolatile memory with high programming speed, low programming voltage, high sensing margin, low power consumption and long cycle duration. To minimize the power consumption and the program voltage, the new composition material which shows the better phase-change properties than conventional $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ device has to be needed by accurate material engineering. In the present work, we investigate the basic thermal and the electrical properties due to phase-change compared with chalcogenide-based new composition $Ge_1Se_1Te_2$ material thin film and convetional $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ PRAM thin film. The fabricated new composition $Ge_1Se_1Te_2$ thin film exhibited a successful switching between an amorphous and a crystalline phase by applying a 950 ns -6.2 V set pulse and a 90 ns -8.2 V reset pulse. It is expected that the new composition $Ge_1Se_1Te_2$ material thin film device will be possible to applicable to overcome the Set/Reset problem for the nonvolatile memory device element of PRAM instead of conventional $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ device.

  • In this work, reliable methodology for device design is presented. Based on this method, the underlap length has been optimized for minimizing the gateinduced drain leakage (GIDL) in a 22-nm node 4-terminal (4-T) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) fin-shaped field effect transistor (FinFET) by TCAD simulation. In order to examine the effects of underlap length on GIDL more realistically, doping profile of the source and drain (S/D) junctions, carrier lifetimes, and the parameters for a band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) model have been experimentally extracted from the devices of 90-nm channel length as well as pnjunction test element groups (TEGs). It was confirmed that the underlap length should be near 15 nm to suppress GIDL effectively for reliable low standby power (LSTP) operation.

  • A new plasma display panel sustaining driver using single side sustaining technique with a dual resonant method is proposed in this paper. Since this circuit enables to keep device voltage stress same as the prior circuit, it can be a low cost circuit compared to a conventional driver. To integrate the sustaining function into one side with a single power source in the driver, a charge pump method is adopted to make negative sustaining voltage and to achieve dual resonant energy recovery on the sustaining modes.

  • The Tactical Information and Communication Network system provides real-time multimedia services such as voice and data by utilizing the Mobile Subscriber Access Point. At this time, an external transmission path is constructed through the Low Capacity Trunk Radio and the High Capacity Trunk Radio system. The communication devices of each wireless transmission system are mounted on a tactical vehicle and a secondary battery is used to prevent a power interruption when the supply power to the tactical vehicle is transferred to the integrated power control device. In this paper, the basic design of the Wireless Power Transfer device for charging the battery of the integrated power control system of the mobile base station system using the Loading Distribution Method and checking the number of primary windings and the core material selection by the air gap through the Finite Elements Method.

  • When a hand-held device with limited battery transmits and receives data using short-range wireless communication systems, such as WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) or high speed WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network), instead of mobile communication systems, the device is able to reduce the power consumption due to the reduced transmission distance. However, if there are many WLAN or high speed WPAN systems around the device, non-negligible power may be consumed by receiving and decoding the packets which have nothing to do with the device. In this paper, we propose a scheme reducing the power consumption by including physical-layer ID in WLAN or WPAN packets and avoiding unnecessary packet receptions. Also, we describe a method to determine the optimum number of physical-layer IDs.

  • Recently, as the number of families raising dogs has increased, cases of lost dogs have frequently occurred. According to US statistics, 5% of the total dogs are reported to be alive, with only 18% reporting to their owners. Therefore, a device for preventing the loss of dogs is needed, and the demand for the market is rapidly growing. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a lost device for dogs. In this paper, we developed a loss prevention device that combines low-power broadband wireless communication technology, LoRa communication method, and GPS positioning technology. The result of this study is expected to prevent the loss of dogs. It is also expected that social problems will reduce the problem of lost dogs.

  • In this paper, we propose reliable message transmission scheme based on CoAP, considering the constrained feature of IoT device, such as low power, the limited memory size and low computing capacity. Recently, the various kinds of application protocol has been studied to support IoT environments. In particular, CoAP protocol was developed as application protocol for IoT at the IETF core WG. However, because CoAP protocol is deigned to be used in constrained node, this protocol uses UDP at transport layer. Thus, data loss may occur frequently in network congestion environments. The proposed scheme, in this paper, is to overcome the problem of frequent data loss with low overhead. Also it includes the function which is to minimize the data loss in sleep mode of IoT device.

  • Recently, it is increased to use the portable device with small size. It is also increasing for demand of a small size adapter. To reduce the size of components, switching frequency has to be increased. But it causes higher switching loss and temperature of components. Especially, the temperature of adapter must be limited because adapter can be easily touched when portable device is being charged. To reduce temperature of adapter, high efficiency is essential. To solve this problem, this paper proposes design of resonance frequency optimization for LLC converter with high efficiency and low temperature of passive components.
