A circular pin fin (CPF) and a half circular pin fin (HCPF) are by using the one-dimensional analytic method. For these two fins, 90% of the maximum heat loss, Corresponding fin length for 90% of the maximum heat loss, fin effectiveness and fin efficiency are compared as functions of convection characteristic number and fin radius. Also, the ratio of heat loss from the HCPF to that from CPF listed with variation of fin length when the fin volumes are the same. One of the results shows that the efficiency of a CPF is larger than that of a HCPF while the effectiveness of a CPF is smaller than that of a HCPF when convection characteristic number, fin length and fin radius are the same.
The internal flow in the rocket pump inducer of LE-7 engine for H-II rocket was predicted at design and off-design flow rates using CFD code, CFX- Tascflow. In this numerical study, the performance curve of inducer coressponding to flow rates variation and the internal flow in the front of blade leading edge show good agreement between the calculations and the measurements. Backflow is appeared at suction side of leadinge edge tip, and this region is extended to upstream as flowrate decrease. Because of backflow, pressure loss coressponding to meridinal coordinate occupy 50% from inlet domain to leading edge. By this phenomena, pressure loss in front of blade leading edge take a great effect to inducer performance.
Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) has become a popular choice in electric vehicle applications, due to their excellent power to weight ratio. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper proposes the Adaptive-FNIS(Fuzzy Neural Network Inference System). The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal d-axis current $i_d$. This paper considers the parameter variation about the motor operation. The operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the problem of strip down method, which is usually used to evaluate the engine friction level. The validity of strip down method was investigated by theoretical analysis of friction in crank and piston assembly. The friction of cylinder and piston assembly was analyzed under the various test conditions. The measured cylinder pressure was used as boundary conditions of friction torque and loss calculation. The friction loss of crank and piston assembly was influenced by test conditions that resulted from the variation of load condition. From the results, we have known that the strip down method could be possible to distort the friction loss of engine moving components.
Generator efficiency optimization is important for economic saving and environmental pollution reduction. In general, the machine loss can be reduced by the decreasing the flux level, resulting in the significant reduction of the core loss. This paper proposesan model-based controller is used to decrement the excitation current component on the basis of measured stator current and machine parameters and the q-axis current component controls the generator torque, by which the speed of the induction generator iscontrolled according to the variation of the wind speed in order to produce the maximum output power. The generator reference speed is adjusted according to the optimum tip-speed ratio. The generated power flows into the utility grid through the back-to-back PWM converter. The grid-side converter controls the dc link voltage and the line-side power factor by the q-axis and the d-axis current control, respectively. Experimental results are shown to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.
A pin fin with variable fin base thickness is analysed by using the one dimensional analytic method. Heat loss and fin thermal resistance are presented as a function of the fin base thickness, pin fin outer radius and convection characteristic numbers ratio. The relationship between the fin outer radius and fin base thickness for the same amount of heat loss is shown. One of the results indicates the fin thermal resistance decreases as the fin outer radius and/or convection characteristic numbers ratio increase whereas the fin thermal resistance is independent on the variation of fin base thickness.

In general, 4-pole parameter and three-point method are used for predicting transmission loss which is one of characteristics of Muffler using CAE tools. However, these mehtods show different results from experiment when the flow effects are presented in practical model. In this parer, to overcome these problems, both Fluent and.Sysnoise are used to analyze the performance of extended inlet/outlet muffler including flow effects with varying flow velocity at inlet of duct. Flow fields and quadrupole source is calculated by Fluent. And Sysnoise is used to analyze acoustic performances of muffler with quadrupole source data extracted from Fluent. Finally, the variation of transmission loss is estimated according to various inlet flow velocity.
Terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol resulting form the weight-reduction process of polyester make trouble in the operation of activated sludge process. Also, polyester weight loss wastewater shows high pH, high organic strength and wide variation of organic loading. Therefore, this study was conducted in order to improve treatment efficiency by activated sludge process with Pseudomonas sp degrading components of polyester weight loss wastewater. The CO $D_{Mn}$ and BO $S_{5}$ of the waste wastewater were 560~3,000 mg/$\ell$ and 8000~3,000 mg/$\ell$, respectively. pH was 11.8~12.3. COD removal efficiency by activated sludge-coagulation process with Pseudomonas sp was 94.1~95.8% for 35 hr of hydraulic retention time. Total organic carbon removal efficiency was 97.1%. Ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid in the wastewater were completely degraded during 32 hr of hydraulic retention time.e.

Unstable sustain discharges can occur at the bottom cells of the panel at high temperature. To solve this problem, the wall charge variation during an address period was investigated. A test panel of 7.5 inch XGA level was used and one green cell was measured. In order to realize operating condition equal to that of the bottom cells of 50 inch panel, the addressing stress pulses are applied. It seems that the resultant wall charge loss during address period increased with increase of stress time, temperature, pressure and Xe %. Wall charge loss increases with potential difference between scan electrode and address electrode, therefore wall charge loss can be minimized by the increase of scan voltage during address period.
With the increasing interest of reducing process variation, statistical process control has served the pivotal tool in most industrial quality programs. In this study, system analyses have been performed associated with a cost incorporated version of a process control, a quadratic loss-based X over bar control chart model. Specifically, two issues, the capital/research investments for improvement of a system and the precision of a parameter estimation, have been addressed and discussed. Through the analysis of experimental results, we show that process variability is seen to be one of the most important sources of loss and quality improvement efforts should be directed to reduce this variability. We further derive the results that, even if the optimal designs may be sensitive, the model appears to be robust with regard to misspecification of parameters. The approach and discussion taken in this study provide a meaningful guide for proper process control. We conclude this study with providing general comments.
