  • Once the sensor node in wireless sensor networks is installed, it usually operates without human intervention for a long time. The remote code update scheme is required because it is difficult to recall the sensor node in many situations. Therefore, studies on the reliable and efficient transport protocol for code propagation in wireless sensor networks have been increasingly done. However, by considering only the stability aspect of transmission, most of previous works ignore the consideration on the fast code propagation. This results the energy inefficiency by consuming unnecessary energy due to the slow code propagation. In this paper, in order to overcome limitation of the previous code propagation protocols, we propose a new code propagation protocol called "FCPP(Fast Code Propagation Protocol)". The FCPP aims at improving the reliability at well as performance. For this purpose, the FCPP accomplishes the fast code propagation by using the RTT-based transmission rate control and NACK suppression scheme, which provides a better the network utilization and avoids a unnecessary transmission delay. Based on the ns-2 simulation result, we prove that the FCPP Improves significantly both reliability and performance.

  • It is important to know phase offsets of a spreading code in the code division multiple access(CDMA) mobile communication systems because different phase offsets of the same spreading code are used to distinguish each base station. When the period of the code is not that long, the relative phase offset between the code and its shifted code can be found by comparing them, but as the period of the code increases it becomes difficult to find the phase offset. This paper describes a method to calculate the phase offset of a binary code based on the number theoretical approach. We define an accumulator function which plays a central role in this paper, and relationships between the functions are clarified. This number theoretical approach and their results show that this method is very easy for the phase offset calculation. Its application to the CDMA system and circuit realization of the phase offset calculation are also discussed.

  • The extension of design life among power plants is increasingly becoming a world-wide trend. Kori #1 unit in Korea is operating two cycle. It has two man-ways for tube inspection in a steam generator which is one of the important components in a nuclear power plant. Especially, stud bolts fur man-way cover have damaged by disassembly and assembly several times and degradation for bolt materials for long term operation. It should be evaluated and compared by ASME Code criteria for integrity evaluation. Integrity evaluation criteria which has been made by the manufacturer is not applied on the stud bolts of nuclear pressure vessels directly because it is controlled by the yield stress of ASME Code. It can apply evaluation criteria through FEM analysis to damaged female threads and to evaluated safety fer helical-coil method which is used according to Code Case-N-496-1. From analysis results, we found .that it is the same results between stress intensity which got from FEM analysis on damaged female threads over 10% by manufacture integrity criteria and 2/3 yield strength criteria on ASME Code. It was also confirmed that the helical-coil repair method would be safe.

  • In this paper, We introduce effective handoff method from W-COMA system of 3$^{rd}$ generation to 15-95 system of 2$^{nd}$ generation. In case of this handoff, Ms should know long code state using traffic channel, timing information and pilot offset of 26 synchronous system during the compressed mode. So We establish additional common channel in order to obtain handoff information. Common channel transmits same information from all base stations and provides MS with timing information of zero offset. long code state and timing of super frame for sync. channel. Therefore during the compressed mode. MS can obtain information for handoff using common channel..

  • In this paper, presents a way to maximize transmission efficiency and reception ability through transmission diversity technology, which can be adapted to wireless multimedia OFDM system. The presented method is a comparative analysis between a case where parameter a for time average is 0.3, 1 with consideration of channel presumption with two types of rms delayed proliferation, which is 50nsec, 150nsec, for the performance analysis of STTC(Space-Time Trellis Code) using time-space code method appropriate for MIMO channel, and performance in the case where presumed channel value from long training column section is applied to according frame in a single frame. The result showed that BER brought SNR improvement of 1.0dB in 10$^{-3}$ when a was 0.3 than using only the long training column, and showed increase of general performance improvement for the sake of time average rather than the case without.

  • In the previous work we made a long term evolution code for the central black hole in an active galactic nucleus under the assumption that the Blandford-Znajek process is the source of the emission. Using our code we get the evolution of the angular velocity of the precession for a supermassive black hole. We consider a hole at the center of an axisymmetric, ellipsoidal galactic nucleus. Our numerical results show that, only for the cases such that the stellar density or the mass of the black hole is large enough, the precession of the black hole - presumably the precession of the galactic jet - is interestingly large.

  • It is well known that Parallel Concatenated Convolutional Codes(turbo codes) has a good performance for long block sizes. This thesis has analyzed the performance of turbo code which is based on voice or control frames with short frame sizes in the future mobile communication system. Also, at the similar decoding complexity, the performance of turbo code and convolutional codes in the speech/control frames, and the applicability of this system are considered. As a result, turbo code in short frame sizes present the performance of a BER of $10^{-3}$ or more over 3 iterations in the future mobile communication system. However, at a BER of $10^{-3}$ , if the same complexity is considered, the performance of rate 1/2 turbo code with K = 5 is better than that of convolutional code with K = 9 at low $E_b/N_0$, and the performance of turbo code with K = 3 is superior to that of convolutional code with K = 7. Rate 1/3 turbo code with K = 3 and 5 have similar to performance of rate 1/2 turbo code.

  • In this paper, the potential ground motion in terms of the peak ground accelerations(PGAs) due to long-distance Sumatra earthquakes is investigated for Singapore, following the probabilistic seismic hazard assessment a, pp.oach. The case investigated differs from a conventional one, in that few attenuation equations for long-distance major earthquakes are readily available. The attenuation relationships developed for other regions of the world are thus reviewed. It is found that the existing attenuation equations, when extrapolated to distant major earthquakes, tend to underestimate the PGAs. By comparing with the PGAs recorded over long distances at stations of the Japanese Meteorological Agency for major earthquakes in Japan, an attenuation equation is chosen for this study. With the chosen attenuation equation, the probability of PGAs exceeding selected levels for various exposure periods of time is then computed. The results show that at Singapore there is a 10% probability in 50 years for the PGA at rock sites to exceed 1.1% g. In view of the results and the associated uncertainties, a base shear coefficient of 1.5% is being recommended as the tentative seismic loading in Singapore. The tentative seismic loading reflects the design value of the notional horizontal load, equal to 1.5% of the characteristic building weigh as specified in the BS code, which usualy governs the design of most buildings in Singapors.

  • The post-LOCA long term cooling (LTC) performance of the Korean Standard Nuclear Power Plant (KSNPP) is analyzed for both small break loss-of-coolant accidents (LOCA) and large break LOCA at cold leg. The RELAP5/MOD3.2.2 beta code is used to calculate the LTC sequences based on the LTC plan of the Korean Standard Nuclear Power Plants (KSNPP). A standard input model is developed such that LOCA and the followed LTC sequence can be calculated in a single run for both small break LOCA and large break LOCA. A spectrum of small break LOCA ranging from \ulcorner.02 to 0.5 k2 of break area and a double-ended guillotine break are analyzed. Through the code calculations, the thermal-hydraulic behavior and the boron behavior are evaluated and the effect of the important action including the safety injection tank (SIT isolation and the simultaneous injection in LTC procedure is investigated. As a result, it is found that the sufficient margin is available in avoiding the boron precipitation in the core. It is also found that a further specific condition for the SIT isolation action need to be setup and it is recommended that the early initiation of the simultaneous injection be taken for larger break LTC sequences.

  • Exploring artificial intelligence and machine learning for nuclear safety has witnessed increased interest in recent years. To contribute to this area of research, a machine learning model capable of accurately predicting nuclear power plant response with minimal computational cost is proposed. To develop a robust machine learning model, the Best Estimate Plus Uncertainty (BEPU) approach was used to generate a database to train three models and select the best of the three. The BEPU analysis was performed by coupling Dakota platform with the best estimate thermal hydraulics code RELAP/SCDAPSIM/MOD 3.4. The Code Scaling Applicability and Uncertainty approach was adopted, along with Wilks' theorem to obtain a statistically representative sample that satisfies the USNRC 95/95 rule with 95% probability and 95% confidence level. The generated database was used to train three models based on Recurrent Neural Networks; specifically, Long Short-Term Memory, Gated Recurrent Unit, and a hybrid model with Long Short-Term Memory coupled to Convolutional Neural Network. In this paper, the System Engineering approach was utilized to identify requirements, stakeholders, and functional and physical architecture to develop this project and ensure success in verification and validation activities necessary to ensure the efficient development of ML meta-models capable of predicting of the nuclear power plant response.
