Almost all small area estimations are obtained by minimizing the mean squared error. Recently relative error prediction methods have been developed and adapted to small area estimation. Usually the estimators obtained by using relative error prediction is called a shrinkage estimator. Especially when data set consists of large range values, the shrinkage estimator is known as having good statistical properties and an easy interpretation. In this paper we study the shrinkage estimators based on logistic regression type estimators for small area estimation. Some simulation studies are performed and the Economically Active Population Survey data of 2005 is used for comparison.

Logistic regression (LR) has been widely used for predicting the relationships among variables in various fields. We propose a new logistic regression model with a fine-grained weighting method, called value weighted logistic regression, by assigning different weights to each feature value. A gradient approach is utilized to obtain the optimal weights of feature values. We conduct experiments on several data sets and the experimental results show that the proposed method shows meaningful improvement in prediction accuracy.

In this paper, economic screening procedures with dichotomous performance variable T and continuous screening variable X are considered when the rejected items are reprocessed. Two models are considered; normal and logistic models. It is assumed that X given T is normally distributed in the normal model, and $P(T=1{\mid}X=x)$ Is given by a logistic function in the logistic model. Profit models are constructed which involve four price/cost components; selling price, cost from an accepted nonconforming item, and reprocessing and inspectioncosts. Methods of finding the optimal screening procedures are presented and numerical examples are given.
This article is concerned with the selection of subsets of predictor variables to be included in bulding the binary response logistic regression model. It is based on a Bayesian aproach, intended to propose and develop a procedure that uses probabilistic considerations for selecting promising subsets. This procedure reformulates the logistic regression setup in a hierarchical normal mixture model by introducing a set of hyperparameters that will be used to identify subset choices. It is done by use of the fact that cdf of logistic distribution is a, pp.oximately equivalent to that of $t_{(8)}$/.634 distribution. The a, pp.opriate posterior probability of each subset of predictor variables is obtained by the Gibbs sampler, which samples indirectly from the multinomial posterior distribution on the set of possible subset choices. Thus, in this procedure, the most promising subset of predictors can be identified as that with highest posterior probability. To highlight the merit of this procedure a couple of illustrative numerical examples are given.
The method of predicting the future may be predicted by technical characteristics or technical performance. Therefore, technology prediction is used in the field of strategic research that can produce economic and social benefits. In this study, we predicted the future market through the study of how to predict the future with these technical characteristics. The future prediction method was studied through the prediction of the time when the market occupied according to the demand of special product. For forecasting market demand, we proposed the future forecasting model through comparison of representative quantitative analysis methods such as CAGR model, BASS model, Logistic model and Gompertz Growth Curve. This study combines Rogers' theory of innovation diffusion to predict when products will spread to the market. As a result of the research, we developed a methodology to predict when a particular product will mature in the future market through the spread of various factors for the special product to occupy the market. However, there are limitations in reducing errors in expert judgment to predict the market.
To predict the surface subsidence of salt rock storage, a new surface subsidence basin model is proposed based on the Logistic function from the phenomenological perspective. Analysis shows that the subsidence curve on the main section of the model is S-shaped, similar to that of the actual surface subsidence basin; the control parameter of the subsidence curve shape can be changed to allow for flexible adjustment of the curve shape. By using this model in combination with the MMF time function that reflects the single point subsidence-time relationship of the surface, a new dynamic prediction model of full section surface subsidence for salt rock storage is established, and the numerical simulation calculation results are used to verify the availability of the new model. The prediction results agree well with the numerical simulation results, and the model reflects the continued development of surface subsidence basin over time, which is expected to provide some insight into the prediction and visualization research on surface subsidence of salt rock storage.
To develop a model for prediction of turnip mosaic virus(TuMV) disease progress of Chinese cabbage based on weather information and number of TuMV vector aphids trapped in Taegwallyeong alpine area, data were statistically processed together. As the variables influenced on TuMV disease progress, cumulative portion(CPT) above 13$^{\circ}C$ in daily average temperature was the most significant, and solar radiation, duration of sunshine, vector aphids and cumulative temperature above $0^{\circ}C$ were significant. When logistic model and Gompertz model were compared by detemining goodness of fit for TuMV disease progress using CPT as independent variable, regression coefficient was higher in the logistic model than in the Gompertz model. Epidemic parameters, apparent infection rate and initial value of logistic model, were estimated by examining the relationship between disease proportion linearized by logit transformation equation, In(Y/Yf-Y) and CPT. Models able to describe the progression of TuMV disease were formulated in Y=100/(1+128.4 exp(-0.013.CPT.(-1(1/(1+66.7.exp(-0.11.day). Calculated disease progress from the model was in good agreement with investigated actual disease progress showing high significance of the coefficient of determination with 0.710.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to use logistic regression and decision tree analysis to identify the factors that affect the success or failurein the national physical therapy examination; and to build and compare predictive models. Design: Secondary data analysis study Methods: We analyzed 76,727 subjects from the physical therapy national examination data provided by the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute. The target variable was pass or fail, and the input variables were gender, age, graduation status, and examination area. Frequency analysis, chi-square test, binary logistic regression, and decision tree analysis were performed on the data. Results: In the logistic regression analysis, subjects in their 20s (Odds ratio, OR=1, reference), expected to graduate (OR=13.616, p<0.001) and from the examination area of Jeju-do (OR=3.135, p<0.001), had a high probability of passing. In the decision tree, the predictive factors for passing result had the greatest influence in the order of graduation status (x2=12366.843, p<0.001) and examination area (x2=312.446, p<0.001). Logistic regression analysis showed a specificity of 39.6% and sensitivity of 95.5%; while decision tree analysis showed a specificity of 45.8% and sensitivity of 94.7%. In classification accuracy, logistic regression and decision tree analysis showed 87.6% and 88.0% prediction, respectively. Conclusions: Both logistic regression and decision tree analysis were adequate to explain the predictive model. Additionally, whether actual test takers passed the national physical therapy examination could be determined, by applying the constructed prediction model and prediction rate.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect the incidence of hypertension using logistic regression and decision tree analysis, and to build and compare predictive models. Design: Secondary data analysis study Methods: We analyzed 9,859 subjects from the Korean health panel annual 2019 data provided by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and National Health Insurance Service. Frequency analysis, chi-square test, binary logistic regression, and decision tree analysis were performed on the data. Results: In logistic regression analysis, those who were 60 years of age or older (Odds ratio, OR=68.801, p<0.001), those who were divorced/widowhood/separated (OR=1.377, p<0.001), those who graduated from middle school or younger (OR=1, reference), those who did not walk at all (OR=1, reference), those who were obese (OR=5.109, p<0.001), and those who had poor subjective health status (OR=2.163, p<0.001) were more likely to develop hypertension. In the decision tree, those over 60 years of age, overweight or obese, and those who graduated from middle school or younger had the highest probability of developing hypertension at 83.3%. Logistic regression analysis showed a specificity of 85.3% and sensitivity of 47.9%; while decision tree analysis showed a specificity of 81.9% and sensitivity of 52.9%. In classification accuracy, logistic regression and decision tree analysis showed 73.6% and 72.6% prediction, respectively. Conclusions: Both logistic regression and decision tree analysis were adequate to explain the predictive model. It is thought that both analysis methods can be used as useful data for constructing a predictive model for hypertension.

In this study, a probabilistic prediction model for debris flow occurrence was developed using a logistic regression analysis. The model can be applicable to metamorphic rocks and granite area. In order to develop the prediction model, detailed field survey and laboratory soil tests were conducted both in the northern and the southern Gyeonggi province and in Sangju, Gyeongbuk province, Korea. The six landslide triggering factors were selected by a logistic regression analysis as well as several basic statistical analyses. The six factors consist of two topographic factors and four geological and geotechnical factors. The model assigns a weight value to each selected factor. The verification results reveal that the model has 86.5% of prediction accuracy. Therefore, it is possible to predict landslide occurrence in a probabilistic and quantitative manner.
