This paper presents the analysis result of load-transfer mechanism and pile movements associated with the development of frictional resistance to understand the engineering characteristics of micropile behavior. An field load tests were performed for two different types of micropiles and they are (i) thread bar reinforcement with D=50mm and (ii) hollow steel pipe reinforcement with $D_{out}$=82.5mm and $D_{in}$=60.5mm and wrapped with woven geotextile for post-grouting. The load test results indicated that micropiling with pressured grouting provided better load-transfer characteristics than micropiling with gravity grouting under both compressive and tensile loading conditions in that unit skin frictional resistance is well distributed along installation depth. The unit weight and unconfined compressive strength of cured grout were obtained for each piling method. The strength and unit weight of micropile with pressured grouting was higher than those with gravity grouting. The fact that load bearing quality with pressured grouting is better than that of gravity grouting could be attributed to the dense mutual adhesion between surrounding ground and pile due to pressurized grouting method and better grout quality.

In this study, the behaviors of a cast-in-situ concrete pile embedded in the weathered rock were analysed by a 3D numerical analysis using PENTAGON 3D and the results were compared with those of the field load test. The load-settlement relation and the load transfer relationship were evaluated from the numerical analysis. As a result, the load-settlement relation at the pile top and the axial load distribution with depth were predicted reasonably. And those results were similar with those of the field load test.
Jaw crusher is a device that breaks rock collected from mines or quarries to produce aggregates of the size desired by user. A representative method for measuring load is to measure them by attaching force sensors directly to the part where the load is generated. However, the direct method has many limitations such as high-impact loads generation in equipment or space constraints, sensor capacities and costs. Therefore, Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) was used to indirectly measure impact loads by attaching acceleration sensors. In this study, both direct and TPA methods were used to measure the impact load of Jaw crusher. This study finally quantifies the impact of the load generated by the Jaw crusher using direct method and TPA method, and comparing the impact load measured calculated the derive the error rate.
In this study, the load transfer characteristics of the base and skin of drilled shafts were analyzed and the load sharing ratio was calculated by performing a load transfer large-scale model test and three-dimensional numerical analysis considering the similarity of drilled shafts, which is the design target. From the linear behavior of drilled shafts shown in the large-scale model test and 3D numerical analysis results, the skin load transition curve for the design conditions of this study was proposed by Baquelin et al., and the base load transition curve was proposed by Baquelin et al. For the horizontal load transition curve, the formula proposed by Reese et al. was confirmed to be appropriate. The test value was slightly larger than the numerical analysis value for the axial load at the rock socketing, but the load sharing ratio at the rock socketing increased, on average, about 27.8% as the vertical load increased. The analysis value of the vertical settlement of the pile head under the vertical load was evaluated to be slightly smaller than the test value, and the maximum vertical settlement of the pile head in the model test and analysis maximum vertical load was 10.6 mm in the test value and 10.0 mm in the analysis value, and the maximum vertical settlement value at the base of the pile was found to be a test value of 2.0 mm and an analysis value of 1.9 mm. The horizontal displacement at the head of the column (ground surface) and the head of the pile during the horizontal load was found to agree relatively well with the test value and the analysis value. As a result of the model soil test, the horizontal load measured at the maximum horizontal displacement of 38.0 mm was evaluated to be 24,713 kN, and the horizontal load in the numerical analysis was evaluated to be 26,073 kN.

PURPOSES : This study is to compare load transfer efficiency of key joint and dowel joint for airport concrete pavement. METHODS : As AC150/5320-6D of FAA's [Advisory Circular] was changed into AC150/5320-6E, Key joint type of rigid pavement were excluded from Construction Joints. LTE(Load Transfer Efficiency) of dowel joint and key joint were compared by times and seasons through pavement temperature measurement, ocular investigation and HWD measurement. RESULTS : For the joint performance grade of No. 2(The second) runway of airport, 12% of poor rate was observed in key joint and 2% of poor rate in dowel joint. Poor rate of key joint was increased to 17%, if only No. 3~No. 6 slabs, which are mostly loaded from the airplanes, were applied for the study. In apron area, LTE poor rate of key joint was high in winter, and LTE poor rate of dowel joint was at least above 'Fair' grade. In summer, 'Fair' for key joint, 'Acceptable' for dowel joint appeared. CONCLUSIONS : As results, dowel joint was superior than key joint for LTE. Deviations of seasons and times were smaller in dowel joint's result. And LTE in winter was lower than LTE in summer.
We present a simple and easy-to-implement lumped stiffness model to elucidate the load transfer mechanism among all individual tube shells and intertube van der Waals (vdW) interactions in transversely compressed multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Our model essentially enables theoretical predictions to be made of the relevant transverse mechanical behaviors of multi-walled tubes based on the transverse stiffness properties of single-walled tubes. We demonstrate the validity and accuracy of our model and theoretical predictions through a quantitative study of the transverse deformability of double- and triple-walled CNTs by utilizing our recently reported nanomechanical measurement data. Using the lumped stiffness model, we further evaluate the contribution of each individual tube shell and intertube vdW interaction to the strain energy absorption in the whole tube. Our results show that the innermost tube shell absorbs more strain energy than any other individual tube shells and intertube vdW interactions. Nanotubes of smaller number of walls and outer diameters are found to possess higher strain energy absorption capacities on both a per-volume and a per-weight basis. The proposed model and findings on the load transfer and the energy absorption in multi-walled CNTs directly contribute to a better understanding of their structural and mechanical properties and applications, and are also useful to study the transverse mechanical properties of other one-dimensional tubular nanostructures (e.g., boron nitride nanotubes).
Purpose of this research compares best transfer speed about applied frequency and voltage using characteristic of $L_1-B_4$ mode and $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor that use piezoelectric effect. By method of study, analyzed best transfer speed measuring and comparison load status that use actuality telephone card in $L_1-B_4$ mode linear ultrasonic motor and no-load status of $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor. Experiment result is applied frequency(58.4Hz) in $L_1-B_4$ mode linear ultrasonic motor (load state) and the best transfer speed by 19.8[cm/s] at applied voltage(56V) point. Also, $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor (no-load state) is best transfer speed by applied frequency(27.9kHz) and 32.96[cm/s] at applied voltage (50V) point.

This paper presents a study on the analytical prediction of vibration transmission from helical gears to the bearing. The proposed method is based on the application of the three dimensional helical gear behaviors and complete description of shaft by the spectral method. Helical gear system used in this paper consists of the driving element, helical gears, shafts, bearings, couplings and load element. In order to describe all translation and rotation motion of helical gears twelve degree of freedom equations of motion by the transmission error excitation are derived. Using these equations, transfer matrix for the helical gear is derived. For the detail behavior of shaft motion, the $12{\times}12$ transfer matrix for the shaft is derived. Transfer matrix for the bearing, coupling, driving element, and load is also derived. Application of the boundary conditions in the assembled transfer matrix produces the forces and displacements in each element of the helical gear system. The effect of the proposed method is shown by numerical example.
In the design of concrete filled composite columns, it is assumed that the load transfer between the steel tube and concrete core has to be achieved by the natural bond. However, it is important to investigate the mechanisms of shear transfer due to the possibility of steel-concrete interface separation. This paper deals with the contribution of headed stud bolt shear connectors and angles to improve the shear resistance of the steel-concrete interface using push-out tests. In order to determine the influence of the shear connectors, altogether three specimens of concrete filled composite column were tested: one without mechanical shear connectors, one with four stud bolt shear connectors and one with four angles. The experimental results showed the mechanisms of shear transfer and also the contribution of the angles and stud bolts to the shear resistance and the force transfer capacity.
In our country, in the case of traditional design of pile foundations, only a design depending on end bearing has been performed. However, through the load transfer measurement data that have been carried out for in-situ piles, it was known that skin frictional force was mobilized greatly. In this study, through the analysis of the load transfer test cases of driven steel pipe piles and large-diameter drilled shafts, load bearing aspects of pile foundation depending on pile construction methods and pile load test methods were established. The average sharing ratios of skin frictional force were independent of pile types, pile load test methods, relative pile lengths, pile diameters and soil types. Because the average sharing ratios were over 50%, the case pile foundations mostly behaved as a friction pile and the extremely partial case pile foundation behaved as a combined load bearing pile.
