Development of KHapmap Browser using DAS for Korean HapMap Research

  • The Korean HapMap Project has been carried out for the last 5 years since it started in June, 2003. The project generated data for a sum of 1,764,000 Korean SNPs and formally registered the data to the dbSNP of NCBI (The dbSNP website. 2008). We have developed a series of software programs for association studies as well as for the comparison and analysis of Korean HapMap data with four other populations (CEPH, Yoruba, Han Chinese, and Japanese populations). The KHapmap Browser was developed and integrated to provide haplotype retrieval and comparative study tools of human ethnicities for comprehensive disease association studies (http://www.khapmap.org). On that basis, GBrowse was adopted in the KHapmap Browser for inherent Korean genetic data, and a provision of extended services was pledged with the distributed sequence annotation system (DAS). The dynamic linking service of the KHapmap Browser to other tools in our intranetwork environment provides many enhanced functions over GBrowse without DAS. KHapmap Browser is expected to be an invaluable tool for the study of Korean and international Hapmap data.

중학생을 위한 제로에너지 주택디자인 STEAM 교육프로그램 개발 연구 (A Study on the STEAM Program Development of Zero Energy House Design for Middle School Students)

  • STEAM education is an effective teaching method to develop self-problem-solving skills through creative thinking. In order to revitalize STEAM education, various program models are being developed recently. The purpose of this study is to develop a STEAM education program based on the project-based learing method that includes the process of solving global environmental problems. The STEAM element was extracted by linking the zero energy house design with the middle school curriculum, and the STEAM education program was developed considering career activities. It was analyzed whether the developed program can improve STEAM core competence and job preparation ability. The education program was conducted for middle school students and the program was evaluated through questionnaires. In order to strengthen the STEAM competency, project-based learning method was applied and it was able to enhance the active problem solving ability of learners. In addition, opportunities for career experience could be provided through career exploration programs and various activities. Through this STEAM education program, it is expected to contribute to cultivating human resources with convergence knowledge and core competency.

건강증진모델학교 분석: 고등학교를 중심으로 (Analysis of Health Promoting Schools: Focusing on High Schools)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual conditions and operational problems of Health Promotion Model School' in high school. Methods: We conducted a content analysis of 2014 results report and staffs' responses of five high schools among 85 'Health Promotion Model Schools' led by Ministry of Education from 2012 to 2014. Results: The study examined the operational process of health promoting schools in five stages; system development, needs survey & current status survey, school health policy development, program development & execution, and evaluation. Every step was found to be inadequate. In addition, the study discovered three key factors in operating health promoting schools and examined the status of each factor; connection with the curriculum, connection with the community, and consensus among members. Three factors were also applied poorly. Compared to elementary school, high school showed a lack of all respects. Health promoting school staffs have faced difficulties in linking community resources, organizing and operating a working committee, conducting surveys and assessing health problems, preparing self-assessment or external evaluation, and developing strategies and programs. In order to solve the operational problems, active cooperation of all teachers is urgent. Conclusion: 'Health Promotion Model School' conducted in high school is not considered to have faithfully implemented WHO's concept of health promoting school. In the future, incentive policies for health promoting school teachers should be actively reviewed.

사회적 포용을 실천하기 위한 도서관 정책 및 성과 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Library Policy and Performance Analysis to Practice Social Inclusion)

  • 본 연구에서는 도서관의 사회적 포용을 실천하기 위해 현재 제3차 도서관종합발전계획에 발표된 관련 정책을 살펴보고, 해당 정책을 기반으로 중앙행정기관과 시·도 도서관에서 추진한 과제 현황을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 첫째, 적극적 정보 복지 실현 측면에서는 지식정보 격차 해소를 위한 다양한 프로그램 및 서비스가 수행되고 있으나, 향후 대상 범위를 확대 및 유관기관과의 협력체제 구축 및 인프라 개선이 이루어져야 할 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 공간의 개방성 확대 측면에서는 열린공간으로서의 개방공간 확장 및 유니버설 디자인 적용이 수행되고 있다. 향후 지속적인 공간 재구성을 위한 예산 투자 및 이용자의 다양성을 고려한 유니버설 디자인 적용 범위 확대가 이루어져야할 것으로 보인다. 셋째, 경계를 넘는 서비스의 연계 측면에서는 영·유아, 어린이, 여성, 노인, 소외계층, 구직자, 다문화 가정 등을 대상으로 서비스 및 프로그램이 제공되고 있다. 향후 도서관의 포용적 서비스 확장을 위한 서비스 제도 개선이 선행되어야 할 것으로 보이며, 차별화된 서비스 제공을 위해 관련 부처들간의 협력이 이루어져야 할 것으로 보인다. 마지막으로 향후 사회적 포용을 위한 정책 수립 시 장서, 프로그램, 공간에 대한 과제 뿐만 아니라 이와 관련한 사서의 교육과 유관기관과의 협력 네트워크 구축, 서비스 및 프로그램에 대한 마케팅에 관한 추진과제가 고려되어야 할 것으로 보인다.

관광지의 적정 수용력 산정과 관리 방안 연구 - 광릉지역을 사례로 - (Calculating the Carrying Capacity and Management Planning of the Gwangneung Area)

  • 본 연구는 관광지의 적정 수용력 산정과 정책적 수요 분석을 기초로 문화$\cdot$생태자원 및 환경을 보존하고 유지하면서 관광여 가공간으로서의 합리적인 이용과 관리 방안을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 수도권 북동부 주요 교통로에 입지한 광릉지역은 환경과 자원에 대한 보존가치는 물론 친문화환경적 관광여가공간으로서의 활용잠재력이 높은 문화재산림지역이다. 연구지역에 대한 사회심리적 수용력은 시간대별로 오전보다 오후로 갈수록, 이용공간별로는 주차장, 매점, 탐방로 등의 수용력이 낮게 나타났으며, 이용공간에 대한 물리적 수용력은 관광객 600여명, 차량 130여대로 분석되었다. 한편 관광객의 정책적 수요 분석 결과 광릉지역의 합리적인 이용, 관리 방안으로는 문화 생태자원의 연계탐방로 개설, 교육 프로그램 개발, 자원해설가 육성 등을 비롯하여 광릉관광권내에서의 차량통제 및 셔틀버스 운행, 관리사무소 및 주차장의 이전, 재실의 생태학교 및 전시실 활용, 편의시설과 휴식공간 확충, 관광행태의 지속적인 모니터링 등이 요구되고 있다.

OLE File Analysis and Malware Detection using Machine Learning

  • 최근 전 세계적으로 사용되는 Microsoft Office 파일에 악성코드를 삽입하는 문서형 악성코드 사례가 증가하고 있다. 문서형 악성코드는 문서 내에 악성코드를 인코딩하여 숨기는 경우가 많기 때문에 백신 프로그램을 쉽게 우회할 수 있다. 이러한 문서형 악성코드를 탐지하기 위해 먼저 Microsoft Office 파일의 형식인 OLE(Object Linking and Embedding) 파일의 구조를 분석했다. Microsoft Office에서 지원하는 기능인 VBA(Visual Basic for Applications) 매크로에 외부 프로그램을 실행시키는 쉘코드, 외부 URL에서 파일을 다운받는 URL 관련 코드 등 다수의 악성코드가 삽입된 것을 확인했다. 문서형 악성코드에서 반복적으로 등장하는 키워드 354개를 선정하였고, 각 키워드가 본문에 등장하는 횟수를 feature 로 정의했다. SVM, naïve Bayes, logistic regression, random forest 알고리즘으로 머신러닝을 수행하였으며, 각각 0.994, 0.659, 0.995, 0.998의 정확도를 보였다.

  • 창업보육센터는 산학연 연계 활성화를 통하여 기술 및 지식기반의 기업가주의와 신생 중소기업의 혁신을 촉진시키는 효율적인 메커니즘으로 간주될 수 있다. 그러나 창업보육센터의 중소기업 혁신성과는 중소기업의 기술역량, 국가의 기업환경과 경제적 특징에 따라 다양하게 나타날 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 선별된 10개 APEC 회원국가별 창업보육센터의 다양한 정책 및 프로그램을 중심으로 전략적 이슈, 기능 및 특징을 조사하여 이들 국가의 창업보육센터를 유형화 하고자 하였다.

청소년 실업자를 위한 고용지원제도 비교 연구 : 영국과 한국을 중심으로 (A Comparative Study of Employment Support System for Unemployed Youth : Linking the British Experience to the Korean Context)

  • The present study is designed to trace the successful reform steps taken within the employment support system in the UK and to extract a set of instructive implications for Korea's future reform path towards an efficient employment support system conductive to youth employment by setting out an analytical framework that links the British experience to the Korean context. To this end, this study focuses on three major aspects of employment support system: delivery mechanism, method of delivery, and programs. Implications drawn from the comparative analysis are as follows. First, the current employment support services in Korea-including job placement service, vocational training, and public works-should be more tightly integrated and delivered in a more consistent fashion in order to become highly accessible to the unemployed. Second, the cooperative network between employment service providers and the corporate sector as demander of labor should be institutionalized in order to make the employment support system more responsive to labor demand. Third, to create an enhanced employment support system that counts in individual differences of the unemployed would require continued, in-depth consultation and case management services along with fully specialized employment caseworkers who would provide them. Fourth, the government should take the initiative and be unflaggingly supportive both institutionally and financially in making future efforts to continuously improve the employment support system on the basis of the implications mentioned above.

유아 대상 난민교육 프로그램 개발 및 실행 (A Study on the Development and Implementation of Refugee Education Programs for Early Childhood)

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to develop a refugee education program for early childhood and apply it in daycare center settings to examine the reactions of children aged 5. Methods: Referring to Kemmis and McTaggart(1988) action research model, the refugee education program recommended by UNHCR, and linking it with the national Nuri-curriculum in Korea, a total of five sessions of a refugee education program for early childhood were developed and applied to 20 children aged 5. Results: The application of the preschool refugee education program resulted in positive changes in cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects. These changes provided opportunities for early childhood to practice respect towards others, fostering a broader understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures. Conclusion/Implications: This study holds significance in contributing to the discourse on the necessity and direction of refugee education through the development and application of a refugee education program for early childhood. It is anticipated that this research will stimulate in-depth discussions on educational approaches that foster early childhood interest in global issues and cultivate a sense of global citizenship and attitude in the future.

U.S. and Korean teacher candidates' approaches to mathematical modeling on a social justice issue

  • Mathematical modeling activities are gaining popularity in K-12 mathematics education curricula worldwide. These activities serve dual purposes by aiding students in making sense of real-world situations intertwined with social justice while acquiring mathematical knowledge. Despite efforts to prepare teacher candidates for instructing in mathematical modeling within a single country, little attention has been given to teacher candidates' approaches to mathematical modeling on a social justice issue from different countries. This article employs an in-depth, small-scale comparative study to examine the approaches of U.S. and Korean teacher candidates in solving a justice-oriented mathematics task. Our findings reveal that, although both U.S. and Korean teacher candidates identified certain variables as key when constructing a mathematical model, Korean teacher candidates formulated a more nuanced model than U.S. candidates by considering diverse variables. However, U.S. teacher candidates exhibited a heightened engagement in linking the task to social justice issues, whereas Korean teacher candidates barely perceived real-world problems in relation to social justice concerns. This study serves as a valuable tool to inform the roles and limitations of teacher education programs, shaped within specific educational contexts.
