  • Cell Capacity and cell layout are strongly dependent on the up-link interference caused by out-of-cell mobiles. Accurate prediction of the propagation path loss from out-of-cell mobiles is essential to achieve system designs that minimize the infrastructure required for a given quality of service (QOS). Less accurate predictions can be expected to yield designs requiring the use of a greater number of base stations. In order to quantify the dependence of infrastructure on prediction accuracy, this paper considers the cellular systems, LOS (line of sight) cells along a road or highway.

  • Equatorial noise, also known magnetosonic waves (MSWs), are one of the frequently observed plasma waves in Earth's inner magnetosphere. Observations have shown that wave amplitudes maximize at the magnetic equator with a narrow extent in their latitudinal distribution. It has been understood that waves are generated from an equatorial source region and confined within a few degrees magnetic latitude. The present study investigates whether the MSW instability and saturation amplitudes maximize at the equator, given an energetic proton ring-like distribution derived from an observed wave event, and using linear instability analysis and particle-in-cell simulations with the plasma conditions at different latitudes along the dipole magnetic field line. The results show that waves initially grow fastest (i.e., with the largest growth rate) at high latitude (20°-25°), but consistent with observations, their saturation amplitudes maximize within ±10° latitude. On the other hand, the slope of the saturation amplitudes versus latitude revealed in the present study is not as steep as what the previous statistical observation results suggest. This may be indicative of some other factors not considered in the present analyses at play, such as background magnetic field and plasma inhomogeneities and the propagation effect.

  • As a theoretical background for this research, the literatures which focus on the rationale of teaching and learning of connecting with mathematics and science in calculus were investigated. And teaching and learning material of connecting with mathematics and science in calculus was developed. And then, based on the case study using this material, the research questions were analyzed in depth. Students could understand mean-velocity, instant-velocity, and acceleration in the experimenting process of constant acceleration movement. Also Students could understand fundamental ideas that instant-velocity means slope of the tangent line at one point on the time-displacement graph and rate of distance change means rate of area change under a time-velocity graph.

  • In this paper, wave energy convertors which convert incident wave energy into electric power using floating light buoy are investigated. One-tenth models of a floating light buoy, straight line and seesaw type electric power plant are manufactured and tested in wave flume. In these systems, we measure the horizontal and vertical slope, generated current and power of buoy with different wave heights and periods. This was confirmed the capability of getting electric power, then we suggest further works to get more efficiency.

  • $PM_{2.5}$ concentrations were measured using a cyclone, impactor (the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency well impactor ninety-six, WINS) and optical particle counter (OPC) at a campus site located in Yongin for the period August 2014 through March 2017. The concentrations from cyclone (Y) were generally higher than those from impactor(X); the best-fit line was Y=1.22X+5.64. The ratios of $PM_{2.5}/PM_{10}$ ranged from 0.61 to 0.66 when $PM_{2.5}$ concentrations from cyclones in selected studies were converted into those from impactors using a regression equation in this study. The slope of the best-fit line between OPC and impactor was close to 1 at 0.95, while that between OPC and cyclone was 0.72. After sampling, the flow rate in the low-volume air sampler with cyclone decreased by 3% on average, which did not have a significant effect on measured concentrations.

  • Formulation of finite difference method for analyzing seepage under concrete dam was carried out in order to find out characteristics of flow net. For the situation without curtain, slope of equipotential line of nonhomogeneous soil is greater in the region which has higher value of coefficient of permeability. By comparing analysis results between the situations with locating curtain at the center portion and left end, velocity of flow along with the face of the right hand side of the curtain for the situation with left end curtain is lower than that for the situation with center curtain. Considering flow in the region of the right of the curtain, streamline for the situation with left curtain gets horizontal relatively.

  • This paper presents techniques to recognize music using back propagation network, one of the neural network algorithms, and to preprocess technique for music image. Music symbols and music notes are segmented by preprocessing such as binarization, slope correction, staff line removing, etc. Segmented music symbols and music notes are recognized by music note recognizing network and non-music note recognizing network. We proved correctness of proposed music recognition algorithm through experiments and analysis with various kind of musics.

  • AC PDP with MgO protective layer coated with the optimum evaporation rate of $5{\AA}/s$ can generate more enhanced efficiency through the vacuum in-line sealing process. However, the optimized process conditions still require the optimum driving scheme on the ramp-up and ramp-down slope of the reset waveform for enhancing the efficiency. In this paper, for the in-situ vacuum sealed PDP with the optimum evaporation rate of MgO protective layer, the address delay time was investigated with various slopes of ramp waveform during a reset ramp-up and ramp-down period. In this study, the minimum statistical delay time was obtained at the ramp-up rate of $6.0 V/{\mu}s$ and the ramp-down rate of $0.7 V/{\mu}s$ of the reset waveform.

  • The dynamic performance of railway bridges under high-speed trains draws the attention of bridge engineers. The vibration issue for long-span bridges under high-speed trains is still not well understood due to lack of validations through structural health monitoring (SHM) data. This paper investigates the correlation between bridge acceleration and train speed based on structural dynamics theory and SHM system from three foci. Firstly, the calculated formula of acceleration response under a series of moving load is deduced for the situation that train length is near the length of the bridge span, the correlation between train speed and acceleration amplitude is analyzed. Secondly, the correlation scatterplots of the speed-acceleration is presented and discussed based on the transverse and vertical acceleration response data of Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge SHM system. Thirdly, the warning indexes of the bridge performance for correlation scatterplots of speed-acceleration are established. The main conclusions are: (1) The resonance between trains and the bridge is unlikely to happen for long-span bridge, but a multimodal correlation curve between train speed and acceleration amplitude exists after the resonance speed; (2) Based on SHM data, multimodal correlation scatterplots of speed-acceleration exist and they have similar trends with the calculated formula; (3) An envelope line of polylines can be used as early warning indicators of the changes of bridge performance due to the changes of slope of envelope line and peak speed of amplitude. This work also gives several suggestions which lay a foundation for the better design, maintenance and long-term monitoring of a long-span high-speed bridge.

  • Liquid film thickness is measured by $moir\acute{e}$ topography which monitored liquid surface. $Moir\acute{e}$ fringe measurement techniques share the inherent simplicity found in optical interferometric techniques have the advantage of use over a greater range of displacement. $Moir\acute{e}$ fringe are the geometric interference patterns observed when two dense line grating are superposed. Light transmitted through a fixed line grating is deviated by the liquid film surface, producing a distored image of the grating. The $moir\acute{e}$ fringe produced by projection of this optically distored grating onto a second stationary grating permit visualization of the liquid surface and measurement of the liquid film thickness. This study measured the small amplitude of liquid film thickness to the $moir\acute{e}$ fringe pattern produced when spherical metal was dropped glycerin put)1 And the measurement of liquid film thickness flowing down an inclined plate are required to calculate the liquid slope in a position.
