  • In this paper, the characteristics of the shielded inductive superconducting fault current limiter was designed and simulated. Parameters of design for superconducting tube, core and primary coil were first determined. And then according to the system characteristics such as load resistance, fault angle and source voltage, the simple power system composed of shielded inductive FCL was simulated by computer-aided numerical analysis. The flowing currents under the fault condition can be limited to about 10 A.

  • 전력계통 적용을 위한 초전도 한류기의 개발에서 빠질 수 없는 것이 용량 증대 방안이다. 여기서는 자속결합형 초전도 한류기의 용략 증대 측면에서 2차측 초전도 소자의 수를 늘렸을 때 사고전류 제한 특성과 초전도 소자의 권치 특성을 분석하였다. 소자의 수가 증가함에 따라 사고전류의 크기는 조금 증가 하는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 초전도 소자의 전압은 크게 감소하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이것은 초전도 소자 하나가 부담하던 사고전류를 분담하였기 때문에 소자의 부담이 줄어든 것이다. 실험을 통해 초전도 소자의 ��치시간도 알 수 있었는데 초전도 소자가 증가함에 따라서 ��치시간이 길어졌다. 이것은 초전도 소자의 치 시점이 늦어져 빠른 스위칭 동작을 할 수 없게 된다는 것이다. 초전도 소자의 수 증가는 소자의 부담을 감소시키고 용량증대를 측면에서는 장점이지만 스위칭 동작측면에서는 단점으로 작용한다.

  • This paper proposes a steering control algorithm for non-holonomic mobile robots. The steering control algorithm is essential to navigate autonomous vehicles which employ comination of the dead reckoning and absolute sensor system such as a machine vison for detecting landmarks in order to estimate the current location of the mobile robot. The proposed algorithm is based on the minimum time BANG-BANG controller and curvature-continuity curve design method. In the BANG-BANG control scheme we introduce velocity/acceleration limiter to avoid any slippage of driving wheels. The proposed scheme is robot-independent and hence can be applied to various kinds of mobile robot or vehicles. To show the effectness of the proposed control algorithm, a series of computer simulations were conducted for two-wheel driven mobile robot.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performances for FH/CPFSK system with limiter-discriminator detection and integrate-and-dump post-detection filtering under thermal noise and partial-band jamming noise. And,we considered intersymbol interference-related SNR and differential phase parameters for all eight of the possible adjacent bit data patterns, FM noise clicks for evaluating FH/CPFSK and CPFSK Systems. In result, the optimum modulation index h was 0.7 and the optimum value of bandwidth-time product D was 1.0 Next, when we considered the thermal noise under the partial-band jamming, the thermal noise significantly influenced the error probability of system below 20dB approximately but could ignore above 20dB.

Simulation of flow-induced cavity resonance with turbulence models

  • A numerical simulation of an incompressible cavity flow is conducted using turbulence models. Cavity geometry and flow conditions are based on Cattafesta's experiment. Baldwin-Lomax model and ${\kappa}-{\varpi}$ model are employed. While simulation with Baldwin-Lomax model predicts the oscillatory features of the flow, the use of ${\kappa}-{\varpi}$ model in its original form makes the simulation converge to steady flow. To acquire oscillatory flow solution, Kato-Launder form and Time scale bound are adopted in production term of ${\kappa}-{\varpi}$ model. The strouhal number of the flow oscillations from the simulation results corresponds to 1 st mode in simulation but 2 nd mode in experiments. However mean velocity profile is in good agreement with the experimental data and the fluctuation profile follows the tendency of Cattafesta's results.

Multi-dimensional Limiting Strategy for Robust, Accurate and Efficient Computations of Compressible Flows on Unstructured Meshes

  • The present paper deals with the accurate and robust limiting procedure for the multi-dimensional flow analysis on unstructured meshes. The multi-dimensional limiting process (MLP) which was successfully proposed on structured grid system is extended to unstructured meshes. Based on MUSCL-type framework on unstructured meshes, the new slope limiter is devised to satisfy the MLP condition, which is quite effective to regulate the unwanted oscillations, especially on multiple dimensions. Considering the neighborhood based on the vertex of the cell, as well as the edge, this limiting strategy captures the multi-dimensional flow features very accurately with the proper stencils. From the various numerical results, these desirable characteristics of the proposed limiting strategy are clearly shown.

  • The design of an occupant protection equipment has been considered as the important process in developing a new car since the crash performance plays an important role on the market. The cost is increased when an unexpected real test is carried out in the proto-design stage. Thus, the exact prediction of a crash performance can reduce the number of full-car test. In this research, the robust design of an airbag system considering the frontal crash is suggested to predict the more reliable responses. On the contrary, most existing researches do not consider the uncertainties. The uncertainties treated in this research are the tolerances of the vent hole, the time to fire and the length of a strap in airbag and the tolerance of the load limiter load in seat belt. The Taguchi method is utilized to determine the robust optimum of each parameter

  • In this paper an accurate and stable gridless method that can be applied to multi-dimensional convection problems is developed on a flow directional local grid. A two dimensional pure convection problem is calculated and more accurate and stable solution is obtained compared with other schemes in grid method. The tested numerical schemes include 1st-order upwind scheme, 2nd-order Leith scheme, 3rd-order MUSCL, and QUICK scheme. It is seen that more accurate results are expected when the schemes combined with a MMT control limiter.

  • We simulated the current limiting characteristics of a resistive SFCL with 16 ${\Omega}$ of resistance for a single line-to-ground fault in the 22.9 kV system. The transient current during the fault increased up to 6.33 kA, 5.80 kA and 3.71 kA without SFCL at the fault angles of 0${\circ}$,45${\circ}$ and 90${\circ}$, respectively. An resistive SFCL limited the fault current to 2.27 kA in a half cycle. The quench resistance of 16 ${\Omega}$ was suggested to be appropriate to limit the fault current in the 22.9 kV distribution system.
