  • This letter proposes an iterative multimode precoding scheme with limited feedback for nonreciprocal MIMO interference channels. Based on analysis of game theory, we model the iterative multimode precoding as a noncooperative game with a finite set of strategies. Numerical results are presented to verify the sum rate performance of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, for spatial multiplexing with limited feedback, we propose subspace based precoding in which the active bases are selected at the receiver from a finite number of basis sets known at both receiving and transmitting ends, conveyed to the transmitter using limited feedback, and assembled into a preceding matrix at the transmitter. The selected bases are conveyed to the transmitter using feedback information on both the index of a basis set, which indicates the most appropriate set of coordinates for describing a MIMO channel, and the active bases having the significant amounts of energy in the selected basis set. We show that the proposed subspace based precoding provides capacity similar to that of the closed-loop MIMO even with limited feedback.

  • In this paper, a precoder based on limited phase feedback is proposed to maximize user's receive signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) in coordinated multi-point (CoMP) coordinated scheduling / coordinated beamforming (CS/CB) precoding matrix indicator (PMI) scenario. Most conventional precoding techniques based on limited phase feedback have been considered in a single-cell environment. However, considering neighboring cells in a multi-cell environment, we enhance the conventional preocoding. method. First, to maximize receive SINR, precoding matrices are designed to maximize the serving cell's signal and to minimize the coordinated cells' signal. Also, a precoder which can be used in a limited bit feedback condition is suggested. Finally, the proposed precoder's performance is evaluated and compared with some other precoding techniques by using simulation under the CoMP CS/CB PMI scenario.

  • In this paper, we propose new cooperative precoder selection technique for interference limited MIMO networks. Our proposed method gives weighting to precoders in the codebook according to each precoder's performance priority. By applying our proposed method to precoder selection sequence, performance of entire system can be improved in terms of sumrate, stability, and feedback rate.

  • Recently, a joint channel estimation, channel quantization, feedback, and precoding system based on deep-neural network (DNN) was proposed. The corresponding system achieved a joint optimization based on deep learning such that it achieved a higher sum rate than the existing codebook-based precoding systems. However, this DNN-based procoding system is not directly applicable for the environments with many users such that a specific user selection can potentially increase the sum rate of the system. Thus, in this letter, we study an appropriate user selection method suitable for DNN-based precoding.

  • In this paper, for spatial multiplexing with limited feedback, we propose subspace method based preceding in which the active bases are selected at the receiver from a finite number of basis sets Down at both receiving and transmitting ends, conveyed to the transmitter using limited feedback, and assembled into a preceding matrix at the transmitter. The selected bases are conveyed to the transmitter using feedback information on both the index of the selected basis set, which defines the most appropriate set of coordinates for describing a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel, and the principal bases maximizing the capacity in the selected basis set. We show that the proposed subspace method based preceding provides a capacity similar to that of the closed-loop MIMO even with limited feedback.

  • This paper considers a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) power line communication (PLC) network where interference alignment (IA) technique is used to mitigate the interference that arises in multi-user networks. IA as a precoding technique requires perfect channel state information (CSI) to achieve maximum multiplexing gain. Due to the common-mode reception at the receiver ports, we assume imperfect CSI for the IA precoding design. Here, the CSI is quantized and sent via feedback to the transmit ports. For different levels of CSI quantization, we evaluate the performance of various IA algorithms via Monte Carlo simulations. Simulation results reveal the superior performance of the proposed scheme due to common-mode reception in IA MIMO PLC networks. It is shown that for a quantization level of 5 bits, the CM reception improves the sum-rate by up to 70%.

  • This paper focuses on codebook-based precoding for space-division multiple access/orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (SDMA-OFDMA) systems aiming to guarantee high throughput for their users as well as to mitigate interference to fixed satellite service (FSS). A systematic design of SDMA codebook for subband-based OFDMA is proposed, which forms multiple orthogonal beams with common spatial null in the direction of a victim FSS earth station (ES). The design enables both transmitter and receiver to independently construct identical codebook by sharing only on the direction angle of an FSS ES, which takes fewer overhead bits than Gram-Schmidt process, a general method satisfying our design criterion. A system-level throughput evaluation shows that the proposed precoding provides superior performance over existing spectrum sharing method, that is, subband deactivation. The spectrum sharing analysis shows that the proposed precoding, even with an estimation error of the direction angles of an FSS ES, causes lower interference than existing precoding, knockdown precoding.

  • This paper proposes a space-polarization division multiple access (SPDMA) system that has limited feedback channels. The system simultaneously serves data streams to multiple mobile users through dual-polarized antenna arrays, by using pre-determined sets of precoding vectors that are orthogonal in both space and polarization domains. To this end, a codebook whose elements are sets of the precoding vectors is systematically designed based on the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix and considering the power imbalance of polarized channels. Throughput of the SPDMA system is evaluated and compared to that of space division multiple access (SDMA) system, according to the various parameters including cross polarization discrimination (XPD). The results show that the throughput of SPDMA system outperforms that of SDMA in the environments of high XPD with many mobile users.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel equal-gain differential precoding scheme utilizing temporal correlation of channels. The conventional differential precoding schemes only quantize a part of channel space not the whole channel space, so that it virtually increases codebook size which enhances the system capacity. But the conventional differential schemes increase peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) without preserving equal-gain transmission. This paper proposes the design method of equal-gain differential precoding scheme and analyzes the performances of the proposed equal-gain precoding scheme. Monte-Carlo simulations verify that the proposed scheme has an advantage of 1dB to obtain the same system capacity with the same amount of feedback information compared with the conventional LTE schemes, with showing very low PAPR property.
