Train Performance Improvement Simulation of Light Rail Transit by TPS (TPS를 이용한 경량전철의 주행 성능 향상 방안 시뮬레이션)

  • In this work, the characteristics and the improving method of train performance of Korean rubber-tired AGT system(K-AGT) and Urban MAGLEV system are evaluated by using Train Performance Simulation(TPS). The train performance characteristics of K-AGT were analysed according to the change of maximum running speed and those of Urban MAGLEV were evaluated according to a vehicle weight variation. In the result of simulation in virtual line, the scheduled speed and the running time of K-AGT system have no difference with Urban MAGLEV system if the maximum running speed is equal. But the energy consumption of Urban MAGLEV system is more than that of K-AGT system. The analyses showed that in case of a 20 percent vehicle weight reduction of Urban MAGLEV system, the energy consumption per person is similar with the K-AGT system. The Urban MAGLEV system is more efficient in long travel distance condition than in short running distance condition in the aspect of train performance.

  • This paper presents a case study of PSD(Platform Screen Door) system assurance based on EN50126 life-cycle stage. By applying this system assurance, the accidents related to urban light transit railway especially that caused casualties could be reduced tremendously. This case study contributes significantly to the reliability, availability, maintainability and safety of the PSD system. Request For Proposal (RFP) of a rail road operator in which required by RAMS is prepared in which to ensure all system assurance activity and safety assessment are compulsory. The step-by-step activities and related deliverables are used which include functional analysis, FMECA, hazard identification analysis, system hazard analysis, maintainability analysis, FRACAS, and finally verification and validation of the system.

  • Traffic congestion caused by cverpopulation has a major detrimental effect on bringing about social and economic problems ia city area. Therefore Un order to maintain and sustain smooth flow of railway system, we are willing to introduce Light Rail Transit System. Rubber wheel type and guideway far AGT have been concentrated on our study Especially, the prototype of LRT turnout system has been developed. Furthermore, the structural analysis for the guideway system has been completed to secure reliability for the LRT system. In the near future, the tumout system of rubber wheel and guideway shall be applied in Korea. We hope reliability fer the system shall be secured without any major difficulties. As a result, we expect to expedite the localization of rubber wheel type and guideway for AGT.

  • The light-rail system which is recently being built in Korea is a train control system based on driverless operation, and the train control system for urban maglev train under construction at the moment in Youngjong-Do, Incheon is pushed ahead based on driverless operation. In this paper, it compares train operation cases with manned operation and unmanned operation to examine system requirements for unmanned driving on train and detects system requirements of automatic train operation device for unmanned operation by analyzing unmanned operation cases which are currently operating or planed project and also introduces automatic train operation of urban maglev train and verifies whether the system for unmanned driving meets the requirements.

  • In light of the growing traffic congestion problem and congestion cost, the container transport by railway has to be increased. The freight transport by railway can have decided advantages over trucks in terms of energy efficiency, emissions and cost for certain freight movements, just as transportation in the metropolitan region can have great advantages over driving truck. But the freight transport by truck should gain significant mobility benefits from a freight railway system. Thus, the DMT(Dual Mode Trailer) transport system which is coupled railway transport advantages with load transport advantages has been developed and used in the european countries. The DMT transport will therefore serve the areas required by transport organizers. The purpose of this paper is to estimate economical feasibility analysis for development of DMT transport system. Consequently, this study analyzed the characteristics of the DMT system. The horizontal load.unload system is being considered as an adoptable DMT system in consideration of the situation in Korea.

  • This paper presents on capacity design of DC-fed-traction system. The system is introduced including a characteristics of train, feeding network configuration, and design method of substation arrangements. Optimal design procedures is described, and program for capacity computation of the system is presented using the nodal equation, K.C.L, K.V.L, Ohm's law and superposition theory. For the proof of the proposed algorithm, we accomplished the simulation of DC traction system for HA-Nam LRT. By considering whole component in DC traction system the conclusion will be much precise.

  • LRT(Light Rail Transit) is currently adopting a more upgraded signal system these days. This latest signal system is a train on-board signal system with moving block based on the realtime bi-directional wireless communications. The system applies RF-CBTC(Radio Frequency - Communication Based Train Control System) in order th execute fully automated manless operation. This paper reviews the performance requirements and safety of RF-CBTC that will be applied to the fully automated manless operation for LRT.

  • Light Rail Transit(LRT) Systems with transport capacity between subway and bus(5,000-25,000 persons per hour) are being carried on over 100 lines around the world, In Korea, to solve the urban transportation problem, the introduction of LRT system has been proceeded positively. It is planned to develop the Korean standard LRT system in which safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness are emphasized. So we were able to make proto type of Rubber tired AGT system for LRT. This is capable of driverless operation using CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) of Moving Block System and is currently making an experiment for reliability in test-line. This study is focused on verifving the performance of CBTC system for driverless and ATO mode through implementing the examination.

  • The traction drive system for the urban transit Rubber-tire system is described in this paper. To control the magnitude and frequency of the output voltage of induction motor transiently, the vector control strategy is generally used. But in case of the traction drive system for the railway vehicle, it is difficult to use the vector control caused by the one-pulse mode in the high speed region. Therefore, this paper proposes the control strategy combined the vector control in the low speed region and the slip frequency control in the high speed region. And also, the overmodulation PWM method is discussed to make the change to the one-pulse mode softly. The performance of the Proposed traction drive system is verified by the MATLAB simulation results.

  • In this study we examined the method to estimate numerically the amount of the regenerated power and the excess regenerated power produced in the DC electric power supply system for the urban light rail transit system. And their economic feasibilities are also studied. For this study DC electric power supply system is simulated and the numerical analysis of the regenerated power and the excess regenerated power are conducted. The study result on the sample system shows that the facility to consume the excess regenerated power or the inverting equipment to reuse the excess regenerated power in the electric substation is feasible economically.
