Drug Abuse and Delinquency among Employees of Public House (유흥업소 종사자들의 약물남용과 비행경험 실태)

  • In a survey of drug abuse of fourteen types of drugs by employees of public house, the results are follows. $87.4\%$ of male and $82.1\%$ of female ever smoked in his/her life time. $82.2\%$ of male and $75.2\%$ of female smoked in the past month. $90.4\%$ of male and $93.9\%$ of female ever drank in his/her life time. $82.2\%$ of male and $81.6\%$ of female in the past month. $57.8\%$ of male and $54.9\%$ of female smoked daily and $27.4\%$ of male and $53.6\%$ of female drank daily. $3.9\%$ of the employees of public house ever used marijuana in his/her life time: $1.7\%$, stimulants : $5.6\%$ inhalants : $10.0\%$ tranquilizers: $14.6\%$, hypnotics : $32.9\%$ analgesics: $3.7\%$, antitussives: and $1.4\%$, antihistamines; $1.5\%$, cocaine; $0.0\%$ amphetamines; $0.6\%$ narcotics: and $4.71\%$, hallucinogens. Drug use and delinquency showed a dosed relationship: drug users committed higher degree of delinquent behaviors and delinquents used drugs more frequently.

  • Organic light emitting diode is developed fast from 1963 after discovering electric light emitting phenomenon. First PMOLED(passive matrix OLED) product is manufactured and AMOLED(active matrix OLED) using TFT(thin film ransistor) is now in the center. PMOLED is mainly mounted at sub display. but AMOLED is mounted at main display. Also AMOLED expand the market to PMP(portable multimedia players), navigation and TV. Even thought OLED's market is opening to many applications, OLED is worried about lifetime until now. That's appeared in market in a very short time and is not known well about result of OLED's lifetime and reliability test. And there is no standard ssessment method and not enough study to standardization the method. A study's purpose is reduce the time for life test by accelerated current and it can do production possible design by accelerated life model in design phase. It's must be add to process variables and design variables(like ratio of light emitting, organic material structure, condition of aging, etc) to make the best use of supplied accelerated lifetime model in this paper. In terms of lifetime it needs each criterion of applications because of image sticking. In conclusion, it's possible to discover new defect because there is not much time to be opened in market and develop a method of manufacturing process & materials, so we need to study on the subject of this paper continuously.

Effect of Light-Emitting Diodes on Cordycepin Production in Submerged Culture of Paecilomyces japonica

  • Paecilomyces japonica is widely cultured to produce mycelium for medicinal and health food use. Illumination is an important factor in the growth and production of mycelium in submerged culture. The effects of different light-emitting diode (LED) combinations on the growth and cordycepin content as bioactive substances of mycelium were investigated. The results showed that the mycelium dry weights were lower under dark condition and red LED treatments. Dark condition, fluorescent light, and ultraviolet-A failed to increase the cordycepin content. Blue light was necessary to increase the cordycepin content, and a red-to-blue ratio of 3:7 induced the highest cordycepin content. The cordycepin contents of mycelium in submerged culture were significantly higher in a 12 h/day illumination time under red and blue (red-to-blue ratio of 3:7) LED treatments, showing an increase of up to 38% compared with those under the fluorescent-light control condition. The results demonstrated the roles of light with different wavelengths on the biosynthesis of cordycepin as bioactive substances. The low-heat release and replacement of traditional fluorescent lights with low-energy-consuming LEDs could increase the contents of bioactive substances. After optimization of the cordycepin production using response surface methodology (Box-Behnken design) to its canonical form, the optimum combination was found to be as follows: illumination time = 17.7 h/day, sugar content in the medium = 9.7 g/50 mL, and incubation time = 61.2 h. The model predicted a maximum response of 3779.2 ㎍/mL cordycepin yield.

A Preliminary Study on the Wellness-Enhancing Effect of an App for the Development of the Self-Life Coaching App (셀프 라이프코칭 앱(App) 개발을 위한 앱의 웰니스 증진 효과에 대한 예비 연구)

  • Considering the necessity for individuals to check and manage their wellness to promote happiness, this study conducted preliminary research on the effect of wellness enhancement of the self-life coaching app. Thirty-six participants were randomly assigned to experimental groups 1 and 2 and a control group, respectively. In particular, the experimental groups were asked to perform self-life coaching for 4 weeks using a research app. Weekly feedback was provided to experimental group 1, but not to experimental group 2. The wellness index for workers (WIW) and the Korean wellness scale (KWS) were used as dependent variables. The analysis results of interaction effects between pre-, post-, and follow-up time points and groups reveal no statistically significant effects in both dependent variables, but the tendency of the effects was confirmed. Moreover, no difference was determined in terms of the presence or absence of weekly feedback in the experimental treatment effect. As a result of repeated measures variance analysis on KWS measured at five times, the wellness enhancement effect over time was statistically significant. Meanwhile, the polynomial trend analysis result confirmed the linear effect of the experimental treatment on wellness. The participation opinion survey also revealed that 84.2% of the participants perceived the activity to be helpful, and 78.9% responded that they would use it once every 1 or 2 weeks if the app is commercially available. This study is meaningful in that it suggests a methodology for utilizing the self-life coaching app so that anyone can use it to promote their wellness and partially confirms the effectiveness of this method.

  • The purpose of this paper is to re-establish the concept of Eastern time, which is used in Myeongliology and Kimun-dungap, and to discuss the use of real-time of the sun according to the birth area, the selection of real-jasi between night-jasi and real-jasi, and the exact meaning of birth time. The conventional use of time in Korean society uses Tokyo as standard time and uses a time system in which a new day begins at midnight. Howev er, what is important is not social univ ersality but the time and space of the univ erse where I was born, which is the center of the universe, should be the standard of my fate, so I have to use the longitude of the place where I was born to determine my exact time. Also it is argued that real-jasi should be selected for the selection problem of night-jasi and real-jasi, which has long been a controversial topic in Myeongliology, because the flow of cosmic energy is signaled an hour ahead. To secure the validity of setting such time, a case analysis was conducted using the time adjustment method through the spread of Kimun-dungap. Through in-depth interviews with the analysis subjects, the lives of the past were collected by date and time, and then Kimun-dungap checked whether the timing of each life event was accurate.

Economic Design of Zero-Failure Reliability Qualification Test (경제적인 무고장 신뢰성 인증시험 설계)

  • In the fields of reliability application, the most commonly used test methods for reliability qualification are zero failure tests since they require fewer test samples and less test time compared to other test methods that guarantee the same reliability with a given confidence level. An economic zero failure test plan is developed that minimizes the total cost related to perform a life test to guarantee a specified reliability of a product with a given confidence level and a numerical example is provided to illustrate the use of the proposed test method.

Maintenance, Repair and Rehabilitation (MR&R) Practice for Concrete Bridge Decks

  • Over the years, existing bridges have had various degrees of maintenance to extend the service life. As the existing bridges continue to deteriorate, however, each Department of Transportation (DOT) of the United States of America faces increasing demands on the limited funds available for bridge maintenance. Therefore, it is very important for State Department of Transportations to establish Maintenance, Repair, and Rehabilitation (MR&R) strategies for bridge structures such that funds get allocated for appropriate maintenance over the service life. This paper identifies the state-of-art and the state-of-practice of MR&R actions and the use of MR&R strategies in concrete bridge decks. In addition, a questionnaire survey was conducted to identify the type and timing for MR&R actions as well as existing MR&R strategies taken in concrete bridge deck by each DOT. This paper also presents the results of the survey.

  • In this paper we consider optimal designs of partially accelerated life testing which is devised for multi-component mixed systems with the considerably long lifetime. Test items are run at both use condition and accelerated condition until a specified censoring time. The optimal criterion for the sample-proportion allocated to accelerated condition is to minimize asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimators of the acceleration factor and hazard rates.

Targeting Multidrug Resistance with Small Molecules for Cancer Therapy

  • Conventional cancer chemotherapy is seriously limited by tumor cells exhibiting multidrug resistance (MDR), which is caused by changes in the levels or activity of membrane transporters that mediate energy-dependent drug efflux and of proteins that affect drug metabolism and/or drug action. Cancer scientists and oncologists have worked together for some time to understand anticancer drug resistance and develop pharmacological strategies to overcome such resistance. Much focus has been on the reversal of the MDR phenotype by inhibition of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) drug transporters. ABC transporters are a family of transporter proteins that mediate drug resistance and low drug bioavailability by pumping various drugs out of cells at the expense of ATP hydrolysis. Many inhibitors of MDR transporters have been identified, and though some are currently undergoing clinical trials, none are in clinical use. Herein, we briefly review the status of MDR in human cancer, explore the pathways of MDR in chemotherapy, and outline recent advances in the design and development of MDR modulators.

  • The influence of red lead($Pb_3O_4$) to curing and formation reaction properties when it was added in positive material of lead acid battery for vehicle use has been investigated. At the results, it was confirmed that the addition of red lead led 4BS crystal size to be smaller and increased the rates of 4BS formation and Pb consumption. Consequently the curing time was shortened to half compared with that of red lead-free one. In addition to this, the lead acid battery prepared by adding red lead showed 14% higher efficiency at the life cycle test than that without red lead.
