  • This paper reports the results of a comparative study on rudder performance between the steel rudders that have been used in coastal angling fishing boats in the 20-GT class and the newly developed FRP composite material rudders. In order to compare the rudder performances of these two types, a sea trial test was carried out to investigate the speed performance, fuel consumption, and ship's turning ability. The results showed that the sea trial performance of the FRP composite rudder was better than that of the steel rudder type in terms of the sea speed, fuel consumption rate, and turning ability.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and analyse the change on muscular strength and exercise performance ability of university students participating in leisure sports by elastic-band exercise program. Method : The subjects(N=22) participating in leisure sports are recruited from K university located in Chungbuk. The subjects which are divided to 2 groups as experimental group(N=11) conducted elastic-band exercise program and control group(N=11) conducted stretching program. The muscular strength and exercise performance ability were measured before and after intervention. Result : There were no significant differences(p>.05) in sex, age, height, and weight among subjects. In the measurement of muscular strength, a significant difference(p<.05) was observed in each group, and there was also significant difference(p<.05) between two groups except gastrocnemius(p>.05). A significant difference(p<.05) in muscular volume was observed in each group, and there was also significant difference(p<.05) between two groups apart from gastrocnemius(p>.05). In exercise performance ability, there was significant difference(p<.05) in sergent jump and side-step in each group, and there was a significant difference(p<.05) between two groups in sergent jump, but there was no significant difference(p>0.5) in side-step. Conclusion : Based on this study, through a variety of age and various intervention period to apply more subjects conducting elastic-band exercise program should continue.

  • This study was performed to identify the tendency and benefits of outdoor recreation in rural areas. The preferences and importance of the benefits of outdoor recreation activities in rural areas were simultaneously compared and analyzed through the discussion of a four quadrants portfolio map using importance-performance analysis. The social benefits in quadrant i had the characteristics of 'sharing nice experiences with others', 'having contact/interchange with others', 'colleagueship/helping each other', 'being together with friends', and 'making new friends.' These social benefit types were perceived as very important characteristics, but the real level of achievement was rather low. Thus it seems necessary, in the process of program development, to apply the social benefit types to the characteristics of the participants. The experience of nature and relaxation benefits in quadrant ii had the characteristics of 'relaxation and recreation', 'understanding nature', 'nature experience', 'getting away from everyday life', and 'experiencing new things.' These benefits and experience of nature were regarded as very important characteristics by the participants in outdoor recreation and, at the same time, their real achievements were highly recognized, thus they seemed to be proper types for the goals involved in developing an outdoor recreation activity program in rural areas. The personal and challenge benefits in quadrant iv had the characteristics of 'training of mental ability', 'improvement of self-esteem', 'fitness', 'increase in determination', 'possible danger', 'achievement', 'excitement', and 'adventure.' These benefits had less importance to the participants, but had relatively high achievement, thus it might be important to make further suggestions for the direction of development according to the participants' tendency, seasons and facilities.

  • Based on easy construction and operation compared with infra-structure communication netowrks, and rapid spreading of smart phone having high powered calculation ability and Wi/Fi function, usage of MANET(Mobile Ad-Hoc Network), which is configured with simply several terminals, is increased in applications of emergency communications, leisure, explorations. However, because of supporting difficulty of communication infra-structure makes some defects of malicious information intrusion like as hacking. In this paper, effects of transmission performance caused by information intrusion is analyzed. The results of published studies is based on environment of continuous intrusions, but this paper assumed intermittent attacking condition. In this paper, blackhole attack is used for intrusion type to MANET, voice traffic is used as a application traffic. Compuer simulation, based on NS-2, is used for measuring of performance parameters, and the analysis for the simulation results is shown as considerations of this paper.

  • The study was conducted to analyze the effect of Playing Exercise Program on body composition and physical fitness on mentally handicapped. The subjects participated research were 12 male and 7 female who were mentally handicapped. P.E.P. was applied once a week for 120 minutes in total for 10 weeks. Pre-Post test for body composition (weight, body fat percentage, body fat mass, muscle mass, cell mass) and Physical Fitness (muscular endurance, strength; hand strength, back strength, flexibility; trunk flexion forward) were conducted to analyze the effects. For obtaining the statistics, SPSS 18.0 was used and mean and standard deviation were calculated. T-test was performed to differentiate performance ability and to compare the effect of P.E.P. on body composition and physical fitness for 10 weeks and the statistical level of significance was set to p<.05. The result obtained showed significant difference for only muscle mass in body composition variable. Moreover when analyzing physical fitness variable, there were significant differences in back strength, grasping left and right hand, trunk flexion forward and muscular endurance. Therefore, it can be concluded that the P.E.P. was effective for mentally handicapped. And the program can be utilized as effective energy consumption program and can contribute to preventing adult diseases.

This study focused on the fact that employment has a positive influence on the health outcomes of the elderly. The paper compares the health outcomes of employed elderly versus that of the unemployed, and suggests directions for future lifelong education programs related to health for the unemployed elders. The study results show more positive health outcomes for employed elders in terms of nutrition status and ability to perform daily tasks. Furthermore, their cognitive ability was more active (orientation, peripheral concentration, awareness of daily life) and their overall quality of life. Therefore, the study aims to develop health outcomes in the unemployed elderly population through safety education, improving health habits, performance improvement education via cognitive activation and socializing, and to secure the professionalism of lifelong education programs for the elderly which is currently only seen as a leisure activity. The object of the proposed program in this study is to maintain health by providing opportunities employment - a core component of successful aging - and relevant social interaction. This will greatly improve the quality of life of the elderly and provide a basis for widening the social role of elderly people in the future.

  • This study aims to deeply analyze the subjective attitude of jazz performance audiences in Korea using Q methodology. In order to establish a population for the research, we decided 'People's mind about jazz performances' as the main topic and finally selected a Q model consist of 38 statements after having a depth interview with corresponding experts. Additionally, from January to February 2019, we implemented a Q-sorting and individual interview to total of 27 people including people majored in music, jazz club members and other citizens. The result were the following. First of all, a musical-interest oriented type. People of this type understood watching jazz performance as a daily leisure activity and went to watch a show more than once a month on overage. Those people obtained information of performances and actors before attending a show using social network such as SNS and jazz clubs. They also had a big desire to have an emotional interaction with jazz musicians while having a fan signing event or performance. Secondly, a general-interest oriented type. This type of people had a tendency of considering watching a jazz performance as a especial experience and not a daily life event. Attending a jazz performance was a novel experience which could be done with their close friends in a special day. Thirdly, people with self-value oriented type. This people were majored in jazz and classic in their universities. As they had a concrete perspective, professional knowledge and experiences, they were more sensitive on the general quality of the performances such as show's sound, light, video, sound system of the theater, player's ability, level of facilities, accessibility, etc. rather than the reputation of an artist. This research did not only revealed jazz audience's subjective tendency using Q methodology but also demonstrated the types of jazz audiences and their characteristics. Therefore, this could be a meaningful study for suggesting a significant implication for the marketing mix of performance planning on each jazz audience type.
