  • NOS education through the history of science is regarded effective. However, science teaching has been criticized for not considering the interest of the learners enough and providing the context of learning themes that hinder the understanding of NOS. This study intends to convey the NOS element through the rich context of storytelling. The theme of the story is the history of continental drift, in which, the debate of many scientists and Wegener's creativity are prominent. Of the various media that deliver storytelling, the most powerful medium that leads to personal immersion is computer games, and among many kinds of games, the main genre of storytelling is role-playing games (RPGs). We developed the science history role-playing game (SHRPG) focusing on continental drift. The game development procedure followed Kim's 4F process (2017), which consists of the Figure Out, Focus, Fun Design, and Finalize. The story was constructed based on the NOS elements of Lederman et al. (2002), namely creativity and imagination demand, subjectivity, socio-cultural personality and tentativeness, which are all present in the story of the continental drift theory. The mechanics and rules of the RPG included quests, rewards, quizzes, NOS scores, and rankings. In the final phase of development, the game developed was pilot tested four times. The results of the tests showed that students' understanding of NOS through SHRPG has increased, especially in the creativity domain. The students' satisfaction with the fun, sympathy, and immersion during the game was very high.

  • This study is a qualitative case study of secondary science teachers who are doing educational activities in YouTube. In particular, this study attempts to interpret this case based on Foucault's concept of 'Heterotopia', which means a space that allows for private freedom or deviance by reflecting various utopias without the norms and constraints from every day or real space. Five secondary science teachers who voluntarily opened a personal channel on the YouTube platform and actively uploaded their own videos related to science education participated in the study. In order to understand the experiences of five secondary science teachers, data were individually collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, and the collected data were analyzed using qualitative case study method. For valid interpretation of the study, we also referred to the video contents, teacher training materials, and teaching and learning materials produced by the participants. As a result of the study, seven themes were revealed: 'Desire for one's own unique educational activities,' 'Youtube as an extended classroom space,' 'Expanded network of relationships beyond the classroom barrier,' 'Satisfaction of desire for recognition and experience of identity as a YouTuber,' 'Tension between the educational space and the YouTube,' 'Space to be reborn as a craftsman,' and 'Finding one's own direction as a Teacher-YouTuber.' Given those findings, we found that the identity and desire of secondary science teachers, which were limited in the existing secondary schools and classrooms, was expanded in a new space called YouTube. In addition, we suggested that YouTube could be a space where science teachers can realize their own ideals and feel the joy. And simple regulating teacher's behavior in Youtube space only based on norms and standards shared in traditional educational space would rather hinder their healthy construction of identity and growth.

  • This study is a similar experimental study using parallax design before and after the non-equality control group conducted to investigate the effects of the Mental health guardian program for mentally disabled people on the awareness of rights, empowerment, and resilience of mentally disabled people. The mentally handicapped persons who participated in the mental health guardian program were significantly higher in the awareness of the rights of the handicapped compared to the mentally handicapped persons who did not participate. In terms of empowerment, there was no significant difference between the two groups. In terms of resilience, the experimental group significantly increased compared to the control group. Among the sub-areas of resilience, excluding spirituality, difficulty overcoming, self-competence, learning and self-financing, basic functions, overall life satisfaction, new potential, advocacy and fullness all significantly increased. It has been shown to be effective in increasing the resilience of the disabled. In this study, the reason why mental health guardian program is effective for awareness of rights and resilience is not a one-way education, but a participatory curriculum in which a person with mental disabilities who participated in the education finds and corrects the wrong news and creates a card news again. It seems to be because it did. As a result of this study, it seems that the mental health guardian program has contributed to enhancing the recognition of the rights of the mentally impaired and enhancing resilience.

  • Recently, with the introduction of drones, a core technology of the 4th industrial revolution, various convergence education using drones is being conducted in school education sites. In particular, drone theory and practice education is being conducted in connection with free semester classes and career exploration. The drone convergence education program has higher learner satisfaction than simple demonstration and practice education, and the learning effect is high due to direct practical experience. However, since practical education is being conducted for a large number of learners, it is impossible to restrict and control the flight of a large number of drones in a limited place. In this paper, we propose a monitoring system that allows the instructor to monitor multiple drones in real time and learners to recognize collisions between drones in advance when multiple drones are operated, focusing on education operated in schools. The communication module used in the experiment was equipped with GPS in Murata LoRa, and the server and client were configured to enable monitoring based on the location data received in real time. The performance of the proposed system was evaluated in an open space, and it was confirmed that the communication signal was good up to a distance of about 120m. In other words, it was confirmed that 25 educational drones can be controlled within a range of 240m and the instructor can monitor them.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop transition process and programmes for gently converting people with disabilities to local communities, through their empowerments. The methods used in the research were literature research, case studies on related programs, and expert interviews. The following shows the results. Firstly, the transition process for people with developmental disorders is exceedingly limited, and the process does not consider special attention needed for people with developmental disorders. Secondly, the postsecondary education programs for people with developmental disorders are being started as transition processes, however these programs need more connection with secondary schools. Thirdly, the primary factors which must be contemplated for University programs(for people with developmental disorders, after secondary education) are self-cognition and self-understanding. According to these results, we can suggest transition processes and programs within Universities for people with developmental disorders. (In Korea) Firstly, the postsecondary transition for people with developmental disorders requires a consideration of their characteristics, and mainstreaming education is also needed for their self-cognition and self-understanding. Considering this, the transition process within Universities can be an alternative. Secondly, tertiary educations within Universities for people with developmental disorders need to consider the following factors: ① The programs in Universities need to set up a support network. ② The door to program should be open to all students with developmental disorders within the Universities. ③ Organization of human resources must be systematized and connected, so that specialists within the Universities can participate in the postsecondary education programs for people with developmental disorders. ④ Inclusive learning activities must be under-taken, allowing students without disabilities to participate in the programs for students with developmental disorders.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine what the formation of a community incorporating two generations of people can give the elderly and the problems which are associated with establishing related programs of this kind. For this, the researcher enacted ethnographic method like as observant participation and in-depth interview on 24 participants. From this study, I found that the elderly and the children who took part in several programs to form the intergenerational linkages made the system meaningful in the following ways: first, the more harmonious the communication across between two age groups is, the more the understanding between them increases. Second, the sense of community has intensified the natural harmony. Third, the more self-satisfaction and confidence increases, the more self-efficacy is enhanced. Fourth, the purposeful and creative activities with peers have enabled the elderly to enjoy their leisure time. Fifth, the elderly have experienced the pleasure of learning and sharing common sense as a life-long learners. However, in the process of this program, several problems occurred such as the rigidly bureaucratic operation of the program and the elderly people's individual differences. In addition, the lack of a precisely-existing program necessary to form the intergenerational linkages and to bring together different generations was a problem. Finally, I have concluded that the effort to form the intergenerational linkages helps increase the understanding and cooperation across age groups and contributes to the successful aging of the elderly.
