The Effects of Task Value, Perceived Usefulness, and Teaching Presence on Learning Outcomes in Cyber University (사이버대학생의 학습성과에 대한 과제가치, 지각된 유용성, 교수실재감의 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of task value and perceived usefulness on learning outcomes. This study also examined the mediating effects of teaching presence in their relationships. As a result, task value and perceived usefulness significantly predicted learning outcomes (learning flow and learning persistence). In addition, teaching presence mediated between task value, perceived usefulness and learning outcome. This findings imply that task value, perceived usefulness, and teaching presence should be valued to enhance learning outcomes in Cyber university.

  • Topological Data Analysis (TDA), a relatively new field of data analysis, has proved very useful in a variety of applications. The main persistence tool from TDA is persistent homology in which data structure is examined at many scales. Representations of persistent homology include persistence barcodes and persistence diagrams, both of which are not straightforward to reconcile with traditional machine learning algorithms as they are sets of intervals or multisets. The problem of faithfully representing barcodes and persistent diagrams has been pursued along two main avenues: kernel methods and vectorizations. One vectorization is the Betti sequence, or Betti curve, derived from the persistence barcode. While the Betti sequence has been used in classification problems in various applications, to our knowledge, the stability of the sequence has never before been discussed. In this paper we show that the Betti sequence is unstable under the 1-Wasserstein metric with regards to small perturbations in the barcode from which it is calculated. In addition, we propose a novel stabilized version of the Betti sequence based on the Gaussian smoothing seen in the Stable Persistence Bag of Words for persistent homology. We then introduce the normalized cumulative Betti sequence and provide numerical examples that support the main statement of the paper.

Investigating The Structural Relationships Among Perceived isolation, Organizational Support, Satisfaction and Consistency in Cyber University (사이버대학에서 인지된 고립감, 조직의 지원, 만족도, 학습지속의향간 구조적 관계 규명)

  • For this study, 373 students of H cyber university were chosen to conduct a survey in the spring semester of 2011. The result of this study through structural equation modeling analysis was as follows: First, organizational support significantly affected perceived isolation. Second, organizational support and perceived isolation significantly affected satisfaction. Third, perceived isolation and satisfaction significantly affected learning persistence, while organizational support didn't. In addition, satisfaction was verified as a mediating variable between organizational support, satisfaction, and learning persistence, and satisfaction was verified as a mediating variable between perceived isolation, organizational support and learning persistence. These results imply that perceived isolation and organizational support should be considered for the design and development strategies of instructional courses in order to enhance satisfaction and learning persistence of students in cyber educational environment.

Predictability of M-Learning Outcomes by Time management, Usefulness, and Interest in Science Education (모바일 과학학습 성과에 대한 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미의 예측력 검증)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how time management, usefulness, and interest predict m-learning outcomes. For this study, 144 high school students participated in m-learning activities during science classes. After 5 week of classes, they responded the following surveys: time management, usefulness, interest, satisfaction, perceived achievement and learning persistence. Multiple regression analyses with correlation applied to this study as a data analysis method. The results showed that time management, usefulness, interest significantly predicted learning satisfaction and persistence. In addition, time management and usefulness significantly predicted perceived achievement, Therefore, these findings imply that time management, usefulness should be considered for designing m-learning activities in high school science class.

Preschooler's Characteristics, Mother's Beliefs and Involvement According to Preschool Learning Behaviors (유아학습행동 유형에 따른 유아의 자기조절, 인지양식, 문제행동과 어머니의 양육신념, 학습지원행동)

  • This study employed a child-centered approach in the examination of patterns of preschooler's learning behaviors. A hierarchical cluster analysis was employed in order to discern a meaningful typology of such behavior. The subjects consisted of 232 children (117 boys, 106 girls) and their mothers from 6 kindergartens and 6 day care centers. The results of this study were as follows. The cluster analysis yielded five types of learning behaviors; the competent type, the average type, the low attention/persistence type, the low motivation -attitude type, and the deficient type. The most consistent level differences among these types appeared to lie in distinctions among the average Attention/Persistence scores. The composition of the cluster types, including both the age and gender of the children, was ascertained. Our results indicated that preschool learning behavior types could be seen to differentially relate to children's self-regulation, cognitive styles, problem behaviors, and the level of maternal involvement. It was revealed that a child's characteristics was more important than maternal involvement and beliefs. As there were more girls and older children in the learning type, this type was seen to be more competent.

  • 교육부에 따르면 초등학교에서의 프로그래밍 영역 교육 목표는 간단한 프로그래밍의 체험과 문제의 이해이다. 체험적 성격을 가진 프로그래밍 교육은 학습자의 프로그래밍에 대한 학습 동기를 유발시켜야 하며, 이는 중 고등학교에서 프로그래밍을 통해 문제를 해결하는 밑바탕이 된다. 이를 통해 학습자들은 프로그래밍에 대한 학습을 지속하고자 하는 생각을 가질 것이며, 이를 위해서는 실제적으로 학습지속의향을 향상시키는 콘텐츠들의 개발이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 초등학생이 프로그래밍 학습을 하고 이를 지속하고자 하는 의도를 얼마나 가지는지를 측정하는 프로그래밍 학습지속의향 검사 도구를 제안하였으며, 그 타당성과 신뢰도를 검증하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 비대면 환경에서 실재감이 학습성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 전문대학의 프로그래밍 수업을 수강하는 427명의 학생을 대상으로 교수실재감, 인지적 실재감, 감성적 실재감과 만족도, 학습지속의 향의 관계를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 만족도에는 교수실재감과 인지적 실재감이, 학습지속의향에는 교수실재감, 인지적 실재감, 감성적 실재감이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과에 기초하여 비대면 환경의 프로그래밍 수업에 대한 설계 및 운영전략을 시사하였다.

  • The purpose of the this study is to examine prediction of academic self-efficacy and school support on satisfaction, achievement and persistence in college. To meet the purpose of the present study, D college was chosen and, two surveys were conducted among the engineering students enrolled in the spring semester of 2010. The results of this study through multiple regression analysis indicated that academic self-efficacy predicted significantly on satisfaction, achievement, persistence and school support predicted significantly on satisfaction and persistence. The results of this study suggested that academic self-efficacy and school support should be considered for improving satisfaction, achievement and persistence in college.

  • What characteristics of computer games encourage persistence, engagement, and learning for both girls and boys\ulcorner The purpose in conducting this research was to identify characteristics of computer games that engage all children-girls and boys- in significant mathematical learning. A set of criteria for evaluating gender fair computer games was developed. Much of this research had involved observing children playing computer games in pairs and small groups. Two game softwares were analyzed by way of dialogues that occurred with the games.

Verification of the Effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence Education for Cultivating AI Literacy skills in Business major students

  • Purpose: In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, individuals equipped with fundamental understanding and practical skills in artificial intelligence (AI) are essential. This study aimed to validate the effectiveness of AI education for enhancing AI literacy among business major student. Research design, data and methodology: Data for analyzing the effectiveness of the AI Fundamental Education Program for business major students were collected through surveys conducted at the beginning and end of the semester. Structural equation modeling was employed to perform basic statistical analyses regarding gender, grade, and prior software (SW) education duration. To validate the effectiveness of AI education, seven variables - AI interest, AI perception, data analysis/utilization, AI projects, AI literacy, AI self-efficacy, and AI learning persistence - were defined and derived. Results: All seven operationally defined variables showed statistically significant positive changes. The average differences were observed as follows: 0.47 for AI interest, 0.32 for AI perception, 0.37 for data analysis/utilization, 0.27 for AI projects, 0.25 for AI literacy, 0.39 for AI self-efficacy, and 0.41 for AI learning persistence. Statistically, AI interest exhibited the most substantial average difference. Conclusions: Through this study, the applied AI education was confirmed to enhance learners' overall competencies in AI, proving its utility and effectiveness in AI literacy education for business major students. Future research endeavors should build upon these results, focusing on ongoing studies related to AI education programs tailored to learners from diverse academic backgrounds and conducting continuous efficacy evaluations.
