Teacher-Child Relations : Interactions with Children's Peer-Competence and Self-Regulation (교사-유아의 관계와 유아의 또래유능성 및 자기조절능력 간의 관계연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the teacher-child relationship as it is self-conceived by teachers in regards to children's peer-competence and self-regulation and to also examine how the teacher-child relationship affects peer-competence and self-regulation. 17 teachers were surveyed using the Student-Teacher Relationship Scale, Peer-Competence Scale and Self-Regulation Scale in regard to approximately 270 children (aged 4-5 years old). Our results indicated that the pro-sociality, sociality, and leadership qualities of child peer-competence correlated positively with the friendliness of teacher-child relationships but correlated negatively in cases of conflicts within the teacher-child relationship. The factors of self-appraisal, self-determination and behavior inhibition of child self-regulation were found to be positively related with the friendliness of teacher-child relation but related negatively with presence of the conflict within the teacher-child relationship. It was also found that sociable and self-determinative children tended to be on more friendly terms with teachers.

  • 금호강수계를 대상으로 1998년부터 2007년까지의 환경부의 수질측정망 대상수질자료를 이용하여 월별 수질경향을 LOWESS 경향분석법을 적용하여 장기수질경향을 분석하였다. 금호강을 상류, 중류, 하류로 구분하여 각각 3개 지점의 수질측정망에 대해서 대표수질항목인 BOD, TN, TP, EC에 대하여 수질환경 오염의 장기 경향을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 금호강의 위치에 따른 수질오염의 연도별 변화를 나타내는 것으로 수질 개선의 지방자치나 중앙의 수질 정책과 행정에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

The Study of Korean-style Leadership (The Great Cause?Oriented and Confidence-Oriented Leadership) (대의와 신뢰 중시의 한국형 리더십 연구)

  • This research analyzes some Korean historical figures and presents the core values of their leaderships so that we can bring up the theory of leadership which would be compatible with the current circumstances around Korea. Through this work, we expected that we would not only find out typical examples among historical leaders but also reaffirm our identities in our history. As a result of the research, it was possible to classify some figures in history into several patterns and discover their archetypal qualities. Those qualities were 'transform(實事)', 'challenge(決死)', 'energize(風流)', 'create(創案)', and 'envision(開新)' respectively. Among the qualities, this research concentrated on the quality of 'challenge', exclusively 'death-defying spirit'. This spirit is the one with which historical leaders could sacrifice their lives for their great causes. This research selected twelve figures as incarnations of death-defying spirit, who are Gyebaek(階伯), Ganggamchan(姜邯贊), Euljimundeok(乙支文德), Choeyoung(崔瑩),ChungMongju(鄭夢周), Seongsammun (成三問), Yisunsin(李舜臣), Gwakjaewoo(郭再祐), Choeikhyeon(崔益鉉), Anjunggeun(安重根), Yunbonggil(尹奉吉), Yijun(李儁). Through analyzing their core values and abilities and categorizing some historical cases into four spheres such as a private sphere, relations sphere, a community sphere, and a society sphere, we came to find a certain element in common among those figures. It was that they eventually took the lead by showing the goal and the ideal to their people at all times. Moreover, their goals were always not only obvious but also unwavering. In the second chapter, I described the core value in a private sphere, so called '志靑靑'. It implies that a leader should set his ultimate goal and then try to attain it with an unyielding will. Obvious self-confidence and unfailing self-creed are core values in a private sphere. In the third chapter, I described the core value in a relative sphere, the relationship between one and others. It is '守信結義'. It indicates that a leader should win confidence from others by discharging his duties in the relation with others. Confidence is the highest leveled affection to others. Thus, mutual reliance should be based on truthful sincerity and affection toward others. Stubbornness and strictness are needed not to be prompted by pity simultaneously. In the fourth chapter, I described the core value in a community sphere. It is '丹心合力'. For this value, what are required to a leader are both his community spirit and his loyalty to one's community. Moreover, the strong sense of responsibility and the attitude of taking an initiative among others are also required. Thus, it can be said that the great power to conduct the community is so called fine teamwork. What's more, the attitude of the leader can exert a great influence on his community. In the fifth chapter, I described the core value of death defying spirit in the society sphere. This value might be more definite and explicit than other ones described above. A leader should prepare willingly for one's death to fulfill his great duties. 'What to do' is more important for a leader than 'how to do'. That is to say, a leader should always do righteous things. Efficiency is nothing but one of his interests. A leader must be the one who behaves himself always according to righteousness. Unless a leader's behaviors are based on righteousness, it is absolutely impossible that a leader exerts his leadership toward people very efficiently. Thus, it can be said that a true leader is the one not only who is of morality and but also who tries to fulfill his duties.

Analysis of the Education Objectives of Domestic and Foreign Colleges of Engineering (국내외 공과대학들의 교육목표 분석)

  • This paper examined the educational objectives of selected colleges of engineering in Korea and other countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Hong Kong. Among the common educational objectives of the colleges of engineering in Korea are the supply of manpower with professional abilities, an education to enhance the basic competence of engineers, and the equipment of high-level educational environments for quality engineering education. These emphases are in line with the global trends shown in the cases of various countries, where "leadership" and "innovation" are given much weight, and qualities such as "creativity", "specialty", and "service" are stressed. The analysis on the educational objectives of the selected colleges of engineering listed in this study may serve as a substantial basis for setting future goals and making decisions for quality engineering education in the colleges of engineering.

An Organizational Diagnostic Model for Food Service Firms Using the Delphi Technique (외식기업 조직진단모형 개발에 관한 연구 - 델파이 기법으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify a suitable organizational diagnostic model for analyzing the management efficiency of food service firms. We used the three-iteration Delphi technique on a panel of 19 business employees, 7 industry experts, and 4 employees in the food service industry. A total of 36 assessment indicators were developed through this panel, with numerous major findings. First, it is important to evaluate the leadership qualities of employees in terms of their motivation and competency. Second, it is important to evaluate the ability of employees to interface well with other employees. Third, it is important to evaluate and manage the brand image recognized by customers. Fourth, it is important to evaluate the fairness and regularity of the rewards given for an excellent job performance. Fifth, it is important to evaluate the level of communication and information distribution in the organizational culture. Last, but not least, it is important to evaluate the transparency and fairness of an organization in its human resource management (HRM) and the efficiency of its organizational structure. In conclusion, this study empirically shows how food service firms can develop an organizational diagnostic model to increase their managerial efficiency.

A Research on Improving School Evaluation System for Quality School Education (학교교육 질 제고를 위한 학교평가 체제 개선 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate school administrators' perceptions of school evaluation, examining the current situation in the hope of finding solutions to the problems caused by current evaluation. The subjects of this research were consisted of 230 middle and high school administrators in Busan. The instrument used for the study were the questionnaire included 27 questions concerning the current situation, the problems and improvements of school evaluation. The results of this study were as followed: (1) school administrators generally have a positive attitude toward school evaluations. But, they thought need to enhance their leadership qualities so that teachers can feel more positive about participating in school evaluation. (2) school administrators have to show more of an interest in the planning, performance and the use of the results of evaluation. (3) to enhance the quality of teaching practices in school they have to improve their methods for providing feedback of the results of evaluations. (4) the biggest problem related to school evaluation is the lack of quality and professional knowledge of the evaluation teams. And each school develops a unique curriculum and focuses on the improvement of instruction methods.

Patterns of Self-Directed Learning in Nurses (일 대학 종합병원 간호사의 자기주도학습 유형)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and understand the self-directed learning patterns of nurses. Q methodology was used to collect the data. Method: For the research method, 43 Q-statements were collected through individual interviews and a review of related literature. The 43 Q-statements were classified by the 34 participants in the study and the data was analyzed by the PC-QUANL program with principal component analysis. Result: There were 4 different patterns of self-directed learning classified as follows : Nurses in Type I the Future Provision Type, studied to promote their own professional development and leadership qualities for the future. Nurses in Type II, the Learning Passion Type, enjoyed learning something new and had a strong learning desire. Nurses in Type III, the Self-reflective Type, continuously evaluated self and their own practice by introspection. Nurses in Type IV, the Accompanying Companion Type, studies with companion support and maintained a collaborative relationship rather than competing with each other. Conclusion: This study explains and allows us to understand self-directed learning in nurses. Thus this study will contribute to building a theoretical base for the development of a self-directed learning model in nursing practice.

  • In Korea, the importance of keeping the see transportation facilities and well-trained maritime officers cannot be overemphasized, because of her geographical location and the national security in terms of both political and economical situations. In this paper, some points are suggested for the development of the nautical education in Korea Maritime University: (1) the strict regimental training should be kept as a vital important part of students life and its program should be designed to provide students with leadership training and experience, and to develope in the qualities of responsibilities for good citizenship and self-discipline to overcome hardwork for careers as leaders in Korea maritime industry. And therefore the dormitory and training vessel as essential parts of the educational facilities should be improved both in quality and quantity, (2) the undergraduate course should be extended to more than 5 years so that accredited baccalaureate curriculum and licensing professional education might be well conducted to meet the requirements to cope with the international competition in the facet of seafarers quality, (3) more enlarging the opportunities of incentive payments for students is required so that better qualified applicants can be admitted, (4) finally, a conjugal maritime officer service system should be put into practice in the foresseable furture so that seafarers might live normal family lives while staying at sea.

"Nasty Old Cats": Sexual Politics of Spinster Detective Fiction ("거슬리는 늙은 고양이들" -노처녀탐정 추리소설의 성정치학)

  • Focusing on Anna Katharine Green's Amelia Butterworth series and Agatha Christie's Miss Marple mysteries, this paper aims to examine the contradictory representation of a detective in spinster detective fiction. The spinster detective fiction reveals distinct ways of representing a female detective from the earlier woman detective fiction. Unlike the earlier woman detective represented as submissive and desperate for survival, a spinster detective is a wealthy, intelligent, brave, and independent woman from an upper class family. Since a spinster detective's attributes honor such masculine qualities as independence, intelligence, courage, and capacity for leadership, the spinster detective fiction has a possibility to threaten the established patriarchal authority. The possibility of gender disruption in the spinster detective fiction is, however, contained by the spinster's marginal position in the patriarchal system. Since a spinster exists outside the normal expectation of a woman's life in patriarchal society, a spinster detective creates no conflict with the dominant gender ideology. Furthermore, a spinster detective is represented as a conservative elderly woman expressing reactionary views on social, political issues including women's problems. The spinster detective fiction reinforces the established gender norms rather than challenges and questions them.

A Study on the New Manager Model in Service Economy Era (서비스경제시대의 신경영자 모델 연구)

  • This study was conducted to derive the new manager model in service economy era. It was logically explained that the modern economic society is different from the existing economic society, the modern organization that is the subject of management is different from the existing organization, and the tasks required by management are different from the existing tasks. It suggested the managerial model required for new managers. According to the proposed manager's model, the tasks required of new managers and essential qualities as managers to perform the tasks were presented. It suggested the role model that managers with required qualities should play. The role of a manager who becomes one with customers, the role of a manager who controls even his irrationality, the role of a manager who combines discernment and indiscriminateness, a flexible leadership role that combines charisma and tenderness, an administrator role that embraces regulations and non-regulations, and vision and non-vision. We derived the role of a manager who manages management, and a manager role model that utilizes both competition and non-competition. The managers engage in two opposing roles and perform management activities in a spiral dialectical cycle that develops while resolving the contradictions of each role. The method of embracing the two opposing parties internally and externally and the dialectical management execution process according to the change of the space-time axis were presented by borrowing the models of The Book of Change. Future research needs an empirical analytical study on this new Model. There is a need for studies that expand this study and develop it into a practical model and verify it in an analytical way.
