Detecting the HTTP-GET Flood Attacks Based on the Access Behavior of Inline Objects in a Web-page Using NetFlow Data

  • Nowadays, distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on web sites reward attackers financially or politically because our daily lifes tightly depends on web services such as on-line banking, e-mail, and e-commerce. One of DDoS attacks to web servers is called HTTP-GET flood attack which is becoming more serious. Most existing techniques are running on the application layer because these attack packets use legitimate network protocols and HTTP payloads; that is, network-level intrusion detection systems cannot distinguish legitimate HTTP-GET requests and malicious requests. In this paper, we propose a practical detection technique against HTTP-GET flood attacks, based on the access behavior of inline objects in a webpage using NetFlow data. In particular, our proposed scheme is working on the network layer without any application-specific deep packet inspections. We implement the proposed detection technique and evaluate the ability of attack detection on a simple test environment using NetBot attacker. Moreover, we also show that our approach must be applicable to real field by showing the test profile captured on a well-known e-commerce site. The results show that our technique can detect the HTTP-GET flood attack effectively.

  • In this paper, various heat dissipation designs for a rail anchoring failure detection module were investigated by a thermal flow analysis. For the detection module with the heat dissipation design on the overall housing surface, an average temperature inside the module was lowered by $25^{\circ}C$ when compared to no heat dissipation design. In addition, an internal heat-flow blocking layer and an heat conduction layer inserted between the LED module and housing case were effective in reducing the temperature in the rail anchoring failure detection, which has a limited space for installation and little air flow. Especially, the temperature near LED module decreased below $55^{\circ}C$ when the optimal heat dissipation design was applied.

비평지용 무인차량을 위한 장애물 탐지 (Obstacle Detection for Unmanned Ground Vehicle on Uneven Terrain)

  • We propose an obstacle detection algorithm for unmanned ground vehicle on uneven terrain. The key ideas of the proposed algorithm are the use of two-layer laser range data to calculate the gradient of a target, which is characterized as either ground or obstacles. The proposed obstacle detection algorithm includes 4-steps: 1) Obtain the distance data for each angle from multiple lidars or a multi-layer scan lidar. 2) Calcualate the gradient for each angle of the uneven terrain. 3) Determine ground or obstacle for each angle on the basis of reference gradient. 4) Generate a new distance data for each angle for a virtual laser scanner. The proposed algorithm is verified by various experiments.

WIPI에 적합한 Specification 기반의 침입탐지시스템 (Specification-based Intrusion Detection System for WIPI)

  • 본 논문에서는 국내 무선인터넷 표준 플랫폼 규격인 WIPI(Wireless Internet Platform for Interoperability)에 적합한 Specification 기반의 침입탐지시스템을 제안한다. 시스템을 제안함에 있어서는 경량의 단순화된 코드, C와 자바 등의 다양한 언어 수용성 그리고 하드웨어 독립성을 고려하였다. 제안한 침입탐지시스템은 WIPI HAL(Handset Adaptation Layer)의 주요 AP 대상으로 침입을 탐지하는 알고리즘에 기반하고 있으며, HAL API에 추가 가능한 형태의 mIDS(mobile Intrusion Detection System) API 그룹을 프로토타입으로 정의하였고, 자바 라이브러리와 WIPI 에뮬레이터를 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 적용 가능성을 증명하였다.

Mode conversion in nondestructive nonlinear acoustic method for defect detection in a layer-structured material

  • Nondestructive nonlinear acoustic method in two dimensions is suggested as a useful tool for detecting defects in a composite layer-structured material. Spectrum level changes in fundamental and harmonic frequencies are observed in the presence of a layer type defect compared with in the absence of such a defect. It is proposed in this study that such spectrum changes we due to the mode conversion. The layer type defect makes different normal modes due to different boundary conditions in the thickness direction for the Lamb waves propagating in a layer-structured material. Specifically, the normal mode with the fundamental frequency in the case of the water-layer gap is converted to the normal mode with the second harmonic frequency in the case of the air-layer gap.

Cross-Layer Architecture for QoS Provisioning in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

  • In this paper, we first survey cross-layer architectures for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs). Afterwards, we propose a novel cross-layer architecture for QoS provisioning in clustered and multi-hop based WMSNs. The proposed architecture provides support for multiple network-based applications on a single sensor node. For supporting multiple applications on a single node, an area in memory is reserved where each application can store its network protocols settings. Furthermore, the proposed cross-layer architecture supports heterogeneous flows by classifying WMSN traffic into six traffic classes. The architecture incorporates a service differentiation module for QoS provisioning in WMSNs. The service differentiation module defines the forwarding behavior corresponding to each traffic class. The forwarding behavior is primarily determined by the priority of the traffic class, moreover the service differentiation module allocates bandwidth to each traffic class with goals to maximize network utilization and avoid starvation of low priority flows. The proposal incorporates the congestion detection and control algorithm. Upon detection of congestion, the congested node makes an estimate of the data rate that should be used by the node itself and its one-hop away upstream nodes. While estimating the data rate, the congested node considers the characteristics of different traffic classes along with their total bandwidth usage. The architecture uses a shared database to enable cross-layer interactions. Application's network protocol settings and the interaction with the shared database is done through a cross-layer optimization middleware.

  • A thin layer flow cell with cell volume of $8\;{\mu}{\ell}$ was constructed. Diffusion currents of ascorbic acid was directly proportional to the 1/3 power of volume flow rates. A linear dynamic range was obtained at the concentration range between $10^{-7}\;M\;and\;10^{-4}\;M$ of ascorbic acid with a detection limit of $10^{-8}\;M$. Ascorbic acid in the multivitamin product was amperometrically determined at TLFC after simply dissolving mg range ground product in $100m{\ell}$ of pH 7.0 phosphate buffer.

  • 본 논문은 H.264 MB Layer 비트율 제어를 위한 적응적인 MAD 예측 방법을 제안한다. 첫째, 공간 인접 MB 들 간의 유사도를 기반으로 공간예측 MAD를 구하고 둘째, 프레임의 픽셀 평균값의 차이로 장면 전환을 검출한다. 셋째, 공간예측 MAD와 시간예측 MAD에 MB의 예측 움직임 벡터를 이용한 가중치를 주어 적응적으로 MAD를 예측한다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안한 MAD 예측 방법이 JM11.0의 방법보다 더욱 우수한 예측 성능을 보임을 살펴본다.

  • PIN photodiode has been used in solid-state detector for x-ray detection as a photosensor of visible light from scintillator. Since the light from CWO is short wavelength having peak at 490nm, the light is absorbed within a very shallow layer near the surface of the photodiode before arriving at the depletion layer and does not contribute to the signal. In designing the PIN photodiode, it is important to make the p-layer as shallow as possible. (omitted)

양계 일반농장과 동물복지농장에서의 환경 샘플링을 통한 살모넬라 검출율 비교 (Comparison of Detection Rate of Salmonella spp. in Environment Sampling of Conventional and Welfare Chicken Farms)

  • 최근 산업동물에서도 동물복지의 관심이 높아짐에 따라 복지 사육방식을 채택한 농가의 수가 점점 늘어나고 있다. 본 연구는 복지농장과 일반농장 간의 살모넬라 검출율을 확인하였다. 각 농가에서 얻어진 샘플들을 이용하여 비교한 결과, 산란계와 육계농장 모두 복지농장이 일반농장에 비해 높은 검출율을 나타냈다. 산란계 농장의 경우 통계학적 유의차는 없었으나(P value, 1.00), 일반 농장 5개 농가에서는 살모넬라가 검출되지 않았으며 복지 농장 5개 농가에서 채취된 130개 샘플 중에서 1개 샘플에서 Salmonella enterica subsp. Enteritidis(SE)가 검출되었다. 육계 농장의 경우, 일반농장 10개 농가의 200개 샘플 중에 5개 농가의 7개 샘플에서 살모넬라가 검출되었으며, 복지농장 5개 농가의 200개 샘플 중 4개 농가의 21개 샘플에서 검출되었으며, 일반농장과 복지농장의 살모넬라 검출율간 통계학적 유의차를 보였다(P value, 0.0057). 일반농장의 2개 분리주는 Salmonella enterica subsp. Senftenberg, SE로 혈청형이 확인되었고 복지농장의 2개 분리주는 Salmonella enterica subsp. Grampian, Salmonella enterica subsp. Virchow로 혈청형이 확인되었다. 앞으로 국내에서 사육방식의 차이에 따른 지속적인 연구와 복지농장에서의 미생물 모니터링이 필요하며, 계사내 적절한 방역대책도 필요하다고 사료된다.
