The purpose of the study is to inquire how the family environmental variables are to influence on the behavior, time of laundering and laundering facilities in the urban households. Independent variables are limited to the number of family members, the are of the youngest child, the age of the home maker, and her educational level, family income , and the type of housing in which the family lives. The total of 222 samples were thus selected. The data was analyzed on the basis of statistical method such as percentage, mean ,standard deviation, chi-square, and F-test. The major findings are as follows; 1) Hypothesis 1 is rejected, because the behavior of laundering management is not influenced by six family environmental variables. 2) The facilities for laundering management are affected by the home maker's age(p<.05), her educational level(p<.001), family income (p<.001), the housing of the family (p<.01) among six family environmental variables ; there fore, Hypothesis 2 is partially proved; 3) the time for laundering management is affected by the number of family members(p<.01), the age of the youngest child(p<.05), the home maker's educational level(p<.001) among six family environmental variables; therefore, Hypothesis 3 is partially proved.
This research evaluates the changes in the comfort-related properties of high-density fabric, such as moisture permeability and waterproofness, in order to assess the relative importance of laundry conditions for clothing properties after repeated laundering and suggest the best laundering conditions for high-density fabric through the identification of the most influential factor. A commercial high-density fabric was washed 25 times in a drum-type washer using nine different laundry conditions based on profiles derived from a fractional factorial design. To evaluate the changes in the comfort-related properties of the fabric, pore size, air permeability, water vapor transport, water repellency, and water resistance were measured. The comfort-related properties of the fabric deteriorated after repeated laundering by the damaged surface finish; in addition, the damaged surface also changed the pore size. As a result, the water repellency and water resistance decreased. The detergent was the most responsible factor to change the properties among the four factors of detergent, hardness, temperature, and RPM. The best laundering conditions for the fabric was a neutral detergent, soft water of 70ppm, a temperature of $15^{\circ}C$, and 30rpm.
Wool fabric having high moisture content were treated with fluorocarbon-based water and oil repellent finishing agents by pad-dry-cure system. Three types of finishing agents which were regular-type or nano-type were adapted to compare the surface chemical composition, water and oil repellent property, crease recovery angle, and durability to repeated laundering. From the surface chemical compositions resulted by ESCA and C1s curve-fitting, it was shown that the regular-type finishing agent were easily taken off from the finished wool fabrics after repeated laundering. On the other hand, the fluoroalkyl groups of nano-type finishing agents turned round from fabric surface to fiber internal after repeated laundering. The water repellency of the wool fabrics treated with regular-type agent had a little changes according to the treatment condition changes and sharply decreased with repeated laundering. However, these values when treated with nano-type agents increased with the concentration and cure temperature and were maintained after 20 times laundering. The wool fabrics treated with nano-type agent had a great oil repellency irrespective of treatment conditions. Furthermore, the wrinkle recovery values of the wool fabrics treated with nano-type agents were higher than those of the fabrics treated with regular-type agent and were unchanged after 20 times laundering.
The purpose of this study was to investigate consumer's behaviors on the purchase and the laundering of baby's clothing according to washing machine types using by consumers. The subjects were 255 consumers with babies(0-2 years) in Korea. The data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using Chi-square test and multiple response analysis, and SPSS 12.0 statistics package was used. Consumers were separated into two groups according to washing machine types with general pulsator type and drum-type. Consumer's behaviors between general pulsator type group and drum-type group of washing machines were also examined. The Results of this study were as follows: 1. The purchase rate of baby's clothing was high compare to that of general clothing of family. The consumers with babies had priority on textile materials(cotton 100%) as baby's clothing. As for the consumer's behaviors between the purchase of baby's clothing and the consumer's characteristics, they showed a significant differences according to the consumer's characteristics like education level and washing machine types using by consumers. 2. The removal of soils including various foods was very important on the laundering of baby's clothing. Especially the rinsing of detergents was important on the laundering. Because they considered toxicity of detergents was high and harmful to the baby, and detergent's components such as surfactants, builders, and another additives could not removed completely with normal laundry courses by washing machines. 3. There were significant differences between general pulsator type group and drum-type group of washing machines on the purchase and the laundering of baby's clothing.
The purpose of this study was to help the consumer about the care of nonwoven fabrics by investigation of the properties such as launderability. shrinkage, color fastness and strenth. Materials used were two types, soft and stiff, of commercial nonwoven fabrics. Deter-gents used were neutral detergents, synthetic detergents and dry cleaning solutions(perch-toro-ethylene) The results of this study were summerized as follows; 1. Laundering of nonwoven fabrics in low temperature is more ideal as morphological changes by laundering in high temperature were more prominent than that in low temperature. 2. Ironing of nonwoven fabrics wants more attention on environmental temperature as the rate of shrinkage in high temperature was higher than that in low temperature. Neutral detergents are more desirable as the rate of shrinkage of nonwoven fabrics by laundering with synthetic detergents was more prominent than that with neutral deter-gents. The rate of shringkage of nonwoven fabrics was not affected by dry cleanining. 3. Special care is wanted in order to prevent color transfer from non woven fabrics to polyester or wool during dry cleaning or laundering as the color fastness test show that color changes of nonwoven fabrics were not affected, but that color stain was increased on polyester or wool. 4. The strength was affected by composition of fibers and types of nonwoven fabrics, soft or stiff.
This study shows the optimum attachment of Two-Way Shape Memory Alloy (TWSMA) springs onto thermal liner and its sewing method for the mass production of fire fighter's intelligent turnout gear. SMA springs were attached to the fabric by four different methods and stitched by two different shapes (square and wave). The durability of the attached springs was tested by laundering up to 50 cycles. Examined were whether the springs would remain attached to the fabric after repeated laundering, the shape memory effect and reaction of the springs, and the anti-corrosiveness of the springs. A Human-Clothing-Environment simulator evaluated thermal insulation according to attachment methods, air layer volume, and stitch types. The findings showed that silicon attached springs remained intact after repeated laundering; in addition, repeated laundering did not influence the responsiveness and anti-corrosiveness of SMAs. Air volume had positive relations with the insulation. Attachment methods or stitch methods had limited impact on the thermal insulation. As a result, a wave type stitch with silicone attachment was suggested as the optimum method to attach the SMA springs onto the intelligent turnout gear for fire fighters.
The purpose of this research is to provide the fundamental data about knitwear laundering and care. A questionnaire was designed and survey data was colleted from male and female consumers. Descriptive statistics, Chi-squire and t-test were conducted for statistical analysis. Results indicated that female consumers were more susceptible with 'handle with care' or 'fragile label' than male consumers. Females preferred hand washing whereas males preferred dry cleaning. Marital status of respondents did not affect awareness of care labels. Consumers considered more about stability of product shape than stain removal. Although most respondents followed proper ways to knitwear care and laundering, they felt that technical knowledge or deep understanding about washing is needed. In order to increase consumer satisfaction with knitwear products, the importance of care labels should be acknowledged.
The heat setting of sewing thread is known to have some puckering. In this experiment, the P/C fabrec and polyester thread were heat setted at temperatures ranging from $70^{\circ}C$ to $150^{\circ}C$ at the interval of every $^20{\circ}C$ for the period of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 40 minutes resoectivly. The results obtained are as follows: 1) In general, the pre-laundering sewing shrinkage related negatively to time but related positively to temperature. And it showed the lowest rate at $110^{\circ}C$. 2) In case of slack treatment, the post-laundering sewing sewing shrinkage marked the lowest rate at $130^{\circ}C$ while that of stretch treatment showed the lowest rate at $90^{\circ}C$. 3) The rates of post-laundering sewing shrinkage were higher than those of pre-laundering shrinkage, the difference between them reached the bottom when applied the slack treatment at $130^{\circ}C$ and the streched treatment at $110^{\circ}C$.
This case study shows constructing the knowledge-based system using a rule-based approach for detecting transactions regarding money laundering in the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU). To better manage the explosive increment of low risk suspicious transactions reporting from financial institutions and to conjugate data converged into the KoFIU from various organizations, the adoption of a knowledge-based system is definitely required. We designed and constructed the knowledge-based system for anti-money laundering by committing experts of each specific financial industry co-worked with a knowledge engineer. The outcome of the knowledge base implementation shows that the knowledge-based system is filtering STRs in the primary analysis step efficiently and so has made great contribution to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the analysis process. It can be said that establishing the foundation of the knowledge base under the entire framework of the knowledge-based system for consideration of knowledge creation and management is indeed valuable.
Cotton fabric was treated with TiO$_2$-PEG600 mixed solution by pad-dry-cure and wet-fixation process to improve the performance properties as well as antibiosis effect and its laundering durability. In this paper, the effects of concentration of $TiO_2/PEG$ and fixation process were investigated on laundering durability and properties of cotton fabric treated with glyoxal. As the concentration of $TiO_2/PEG$ increased fixation, W.I., K/S of treated cotton fabric increased. Application of wet-fixation method provided a further improvement in fixation, laundering durability of treated cotton fabric.
