Incremental Antenna Selection Based on Lattice-Reduction for Spatial Multiplexing MIMO Systems

  • Antenna selection is a method to enhance the performance of spatial multiplexing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, which can achieve the diversity order of the full MIMO systems. Although various selection criteria have been studied in the literature, they should be adjusted to the detection operation implemented at the receiver. In this paper, antenna selection methods that optimize the post-processing signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and eigenvalue are considered for the lattice reduction (LR)-based receiver. To develop a complexity-efficient antenna selection algorithm, the incremental selection strategy is adopted. Moreover, for improvement of performance, an additional iterative selection method is presented in combination with an incremental strategy.

  • This paper presents a parasitic inductance reduction design method for the stable driving of GaN HEMT. To reduce the parasitic inductance, we propose a vertical lattice loop structure with multiple loops that is not affected by the GaN HEMT package. The proposed vertical lattice loop structure selects the reference loop and designs the same loop as the reference loop by layering. The design reverses the current direction of adjacent current paths, increasing magnetic flux cancellation to reduce parasitic inductance. In this study, we validate the effectiveness of the parasitic inductance reduction method of the proposed vertical lattice loop structure.

Performance Analysis of LR-aided ZF Receiver for MIMO Systems

  • Lattice-reduction (LR) techniques have been developed for signal detection in spatial multiplexing multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems to obtain the largest diversity gain. Thus, an LR-assisted zero-forcing (ZF) receiver can achieve the maximum diversity gain in spatial multiplexing MIMO systems. In this paper, a simplified analysis of the achievable diversity gain is presented by fitting the channel coefficients lattice-reduced by a complex Lenstra-Lenstra-$Lov{\acute{a}}z$ (LLL) algorithm into approximated Gaussian random variables. It will be shown that the maximum diversity gain corresponding to two times the number of receive antennas can be achieved by the LR-based ZF detector. In addition, the approximated bit error rate (BER) expression is also derived. Finally, the analytical BER performance is comparatively studied with the simulated results.

프로펠러 특성의 이론적 산정법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Theoretical Calculation of Screw Propeller Open-Water Characteristics)

  • In recent years, propellers with various blade configurations such as highly skewed propellers are often fitted to ships from the viewpoint of reduction of vibration and noise. In the design of such propellers, design charts based on methodical series tests are to be complemented by theoretical calculations for accurate estimation of propeller open-water characteristics. The author intended to develop a method to estimate propeller open-water characteristics based on Quasi -Vortex - Lattice Method originally developed by Lan for solving planar thin wings, The Quasi - Vortex - Lattice Method has the simplicity and flexibility of Vortex - Lattice Method. Its accuracy is comparable to that of the Vortex - Lattice Method. Converged solution can be obtained with a small number of control points and further, leading edge suction force can be calculated directly. In the present paper, a numerical method to estimate propeller open-water characteristics based on the Quasi - Vortex - Lattice Method is reviewed and its application to marine propellers is described in detail. Comparison of propeller open-water characteristics obtained by the present method with experimental data showed good agreement for a wide variety of propellers including highly skewed propellers.

Joint Lattice-Reduction-Aided Precoder Design for Multiuser MIMO Relay System

  • Lattice reduction (LR) has been used widely in conventional multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems to enhance the performance. However, LR is hard to be applied to the relay systems which are important but more complicated in the wireless communication theory. This paper introduces a new viewpoint for utilizing LR in multiuser MIMO relay systems. The vector precoding (VP) is designed along with zero force (ZF) criterion and minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion and enhanced by LR algorithm. This implementable precoder design combines nonlinear processing at the base station (BS) and linear processing at the relay. This precoder is capable of avoiding multiuser interference (MUI) at the mobile stations (MSs) and achieving excellent performance. Moreover, it is shown that the amount of feedback information is much less than that of the singular value decomposition (SVD) design. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme using the complex version of the Lenstra--Lenstra--Lovász (LLL) algorithm significantly improves system performance.

대형 복합재 격자구조체 개발 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of Large Scale Composite Lattice Structures)

  • 복합재 격자구조체는 요구 하중을 최소한의 무게 및 두께로 지지하는 구조체로, 고강도 탄소섬유에 에폭시 수지를 함침시켜 필라멘트 와인딩 공법으로 제작된다. 구조적으로 반드시 필요한 부분만을 적층 및 제작하므로 항공기 동체, 위성발사체 및 유도무기 등에 적용하여 경량화를 극대화 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 대형 원통형 및 콘형 복합재 격자구조체의 설계, 해석, 제작 및 평가까지 전 순기에 해당하는 복합재 격자구조체 개발 및 평가를 수행하였다. 실제 발사체 및 유도무기에 적용이 가능하도록 직경 2,600 mm, 길이 2,000 mm의 원통형 격자구조체와 상단 직경 1,300 mm, 하단 직경 2,500 mm, 길이 900 mm의 콘형 격자구조체를 개발하였으며, 하중시험을 통해 대형 복합재 격자구조체의 성능을 평가하였다.

DFT를 이용한 Si (001) 기판의 에피택시 NiSi 구조 연구 (Structural Study of Epitaxial NiSi on Si (001) Substrate by Using Density Functional Theory (DFT))

  • An epitaxial NiSi structure on Si (001) substrate was studied by using density functional theory (DFT). Orhorhombic and B2-NiSi structures were compared first. B2 structure was further considered as it has same crystal structure as Si and the lattice mismatch between B2 and Si is small, compared to orthorhombic-NiSi. The lattice parameters of x- and y-direction in B2-NiSi structure were modified to match with those in Si (001). The size reduction of the lattice parameter of B2-NiSi to match with that of Si increased the lattice parameter of z-direction by 10.5%. Therefore, we propose that an optimum structure of NiSi for epitaxial growth on Si (001) is a tetragonal structure.

  • For the reduction of fuel consumption of high speed, the aerodynamic drag must be reduced. In early vehicle design process, it is very important to have information about aerodynamic characteristics of design models. In this phase CFD methods are usually used to predict the aerodynamic forces. But commercial programs using turbulence models cannot give a good agreement with experimental result and have also problems with convergence. PowerFLOW employs a new technology called DIGITAL PHYSICS, which provides a different approach to simulating fluids. DIGITAL PHYSICS uses a lattice-based approach (extended from lattice-gas and lattice-Boltzmann methods) where time, space and velocity are discrete. This discrete system represents the Wavier-Stokes continuum behavior without the numerical instability Issues of traditional CFD solvers, such as convergence. In this paper, aerodynamic performance of vehicles are simulated using PowerFLOW by Exa and results are compared with experimental wind tunnel data.

Application of lattice probabilistic neural network for active response control of offshore structures

  • The reduction of the dynamic response of an offshore structure subjected to wind-generated random ocean waves is of extreme significance in the aspects of serviceability, fatigue life and safety of the structure. In this study, a new neuro-control scheme is applied to the vibration control of a fixed offshore platform under random wave loads to examine the applicability of the proposed method. It is called the Lattice Probabilistic Neural Network (LPNN), as it utilizes lattice pattern of state vectors as the training data of PNN. When control results of the LPNN are compared with those of the NN and PNN, LPNN showed better performance in effectively suppressing the structural responses in a shorter computational time.

스마트 반지름 제어를 사용한 효율적인 구복호 알고리즘 (A Computationally Efficient Sphere Decoding Algorithm with Smart Radius Control)

  • We propose a computationally efficient sphere decoding (SD) algorithm with smart radius control (SRC). As a baseline algorithm for SD, we consider the modified Schnorr-Euchner (SE) algorithm [1] (hereafter, called as the MSE algorithm). In principle, the radius after zero-forcing decision feedback equalization (ZF-DFE) estimation can be reduced further if we select a new lattice vector closer to the received signal vector than the lattice vector corresponding to the ZF-DFE estimate does. In our case, we obtain such a better lattice vector by performing a sequence of alternating one-dimensional searches, starting from the ZF-DFE estimate. We then develop a novel SRC algorithm that adopts adaptively the additional radius reduction process according to the estimated signal-to-noise-power ratio (SNR) after ZF-DFE estimation. In addition, we analyze the effect of detection ordering on the complexity for SD. Column-norm ordering of the channel matrix and optimal ordering [1] are considered here. From our analyses, we see that SRC can reduce greatly the complexity for SD and the degree of complexity reduction gets significant as the SNR decreases, irrespective of detection ordering schemes used.
