We have developed a sub-micron gap fabrication technology using chemical-mechanical polishing (CMP) without /the sub-micron lithography equipments (0.18∼0.25 7m). And it has been applied to a lateral field emission device (FED), in which narrow gap distance is very important for reducing turn-on voltage. As a result, the turn-on voltage (at which the current level is 1 nA) of the fabricated device with the gap distance of 256 nm is as low as 4.0 V, which is the lowest turn-on voltage among lateral FEDs ever reported.

The authors report a case of spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (SDAVF) that is supplied by a lateral sacral artery. A 73-year-old male presented with gait disturbance that had developed 3 years ago. Spinal magnetic resonance imaging suggested a possible SDAVF. Selective spinal angiography including the vertebral arteries and pelvic vessels showed the SDAVF fed by left lateral sacral artery. The patient was subsequently treated with glue embolization. Three days after the embolization procedure, his gait disturbance was much improved.

The ferroresonance characteristics in 3 phase transformer is analysed in this paper using EMTP simulations under the consideration of lateral length of the primary cable. The ferroresonant overvoltage or undervoltage may occur in cable-fed 3 phase transformer when single phase switching is made in relatively remote point from the transformer, and this phenomena is closely related to the lateral length of the cable. This paper shows the voltage characteristics concerned with the transformer ferroresonance and the proper lateral length of the cable for reducing the voltage in 3 phase installation, through some case studies.

We mainly report recent progress in backlight unit (BLU) for liquid crystal display (LCD) using printed carbon nanotubes (CNTs) including top-gate and lateral gate structures. Lighting performances of CNTBLU and longevity of printed CNT emitters are intensively discussed. Selected issues related with field emission display (FED) using the same emitters also are presented.

Lateral type poly-silicon field emitters were fabricated by utilizing the LOCOS (Local Oxidation of Silicon) process. For the implementation 'of an ideal field emission device with quasi-zero tunneling barrier, a new and fundamental approach has used conducted by introducing an intelligent carbon-based thin layer on the cathode tip surface via a field-assisted self-aligning of carbon (FASAC) process. Fundamental lowering of the turn-on field for the electron emission was feasible through the control of both the tip shape and surface barrier height.

Using the LOCOS process, we have fabricated the lateral type polysilicon field emission triodes with poly-Si/oxide/Si structure and investigated their current-voltage characteristics for three biasing modes of operation. The fabricated devices exhibit excellent electrical performances such as a relatively low turn-on anode voltage of 14 V at VGC = 0V, a stable and high emission current of 92${\mu}$A/triode over 90 hours, a small gate leakage current of 0.23 ${\mu}$A/triode and an outstanding transconductance of 57${\mu}$S/5triodes at VGC = 5V and VAC = 26V. these superior electrical operation is believed to be due to a large field enhancement effect, which is related to the sharp cathode tips produced by the LOCOS process as well as the high aspect ratio (height /radius ) of the cathode tip end.

본 논문에서는 사각형 패치가 종단에 장하된 소형 직렬 급전 다이폴 쌍(series-fed dipole pair; SDP) 안테나를 제안하였다. SDP 안테나의 폭을 줄이기 위해 두 다이폴 소자의 두 팔의 종단과 접지면의 양끝에 사각형 패치가 추가되었다. 사각형 패치의 길이와 폭에 따른 입력 반사계수와 같은 안테나 성능의 변화를 분석하였다. 1.7-2.7 GHz 대역에서 동작하는 최적화된 소형 SDP 안테나를 설계하여 FR4 기판 상에 제작하였다. 제작된 안테나의 폭은 기존의 SDP 안테나와 비교하여 14.3% 줄었다. 제작된 SDP 안테나를 측정한 결과, VSWR이 2 이하인 임피던스 대역폭은 48.7%(1.68-2.76 GHz), 이득은 5.6-6.0 dBi으로 기존 SDP 안테나와 유사하며 전후방비는 0.7-7.4 dB 향상되었다.

We investigate the effects of the immune function (HI titer) in broilers fed diets containing Hermetia illucens (H. illucens) peptide extract over a 40-day period. Twenty-four broiler chicks (Arbor Acres, 1 d old) were divided into four groups and fed different diets (control, 0.1%, 0.5%, and 1% H. illucens peptide extract). To evaluate HI titer, all broilers were vaccinated with H9H2 vaccine subcutaneously on the lateral thorax, according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Similar HI titer was observed with 1% H. illucens peptide extract treatment compared to the control after 40 days (p>0.01). Groups fed 0.5% H. illucens peptide extract demonstrated the most effective immune effects (p<0.01), followed by groups fed 0.1% H. illucens peptide extract. In conclusion, using 0.1% or 0.5% H. illucens peptide extract before or after vaccination improved HI titer immune function in broilers.

Recently, substations have been constructed in GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) and indoor type because of the increasing difficulties of securing locations. In case of urban substations, it is also common that the substations are exclusively fed by underground cables. Sometimes, the infrastructures in urban area, such as communication facilities, are located near substations to be constructed. In this paper, we examined such a case that a branch office building of KT(Korea Telecom) was located near 154 kV underground GIS substation under construction with about 100 meters of the lateral distance between two facilities. GPR (Ground Potential Rise) at the substation and the transferred earth potential at the KT building through the earth in SLG (Single-Line-to- Ground) fault condition were investigated based on a series of computer simulations. The calculated earth potential at a distance of 100 m from the substation was below 120 V which satisfying the limit value of 650 V.

A kind of leeches, Trachelobdella sp was detected on the inside surface of the opercle of wild crucian carp, Carassius cuvieri (21.5 cm in length and 238.5 g in weight) at a reservoir for agriculture in ChungNam Province of Korea in March, 2002. Two or three round transparent spots on the opercle could be easily detected. The fish also showed severe anemia and dorsally darking in the gill lamellae. The parasites was identified as Trachelobdella sp. on the basis of morphological characteristics such as suckers, body segmentation and lateral diverticula. As the parasites fed on host blood after attaching on the inside surface of the opercle by means of the posterior sucker, they caused severe anemia and petechial haemorrhge on the gill of infested fish. Heavy infestation of the parasite resulted in dath of fish because of large amount of blood loss.
