Effects of Comprehensive Nursing Service on the Nursing Performance, Job Satisfaction and Customer Orientation among Nurses (포괄간호서비스 병원 시범사업이 간호사의 간호업무성과, 직무만족 및 고객지향성에 미치는 효과)

  • This study examined the effects of the Ministry-of-Health-and-Welfare-initiated comprehensive nursing service on the nursing performance, job satisfaction, and customer orientation among nurses. The participants were nurses working in a running hospital without a patient-sitter in S city (Experimental group=57, Control group=55). The data was collected at 1 and 6 months following a pilot program and analyzed by SPSS using a Chi-squire test, t-test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and ANCOVA. The experimental group showed significantly better nursing performance, job satisfaction, and customer orientation than the control group. This finding can be used to establish the criteria for systematizing comprehensive nursing service.

Some Issues on Criterion for Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test in Credit Rating Model Validation (신용평가모형에서 콜모고로프-스미르노프 검정기준의 문제점)

  • Kolmogorov-Smirnov(K-S) statistic has been widely used for the model validation of credit rating models. Validation criteria for the K-S statistic is empirically used at the levels of 0.3 or 0.4 which are much larger than the critical values of K-S test statistic. We examine whether these criteria are reasonable and appropriate through the simulations according to various sample sizes, type II error rates, and the ratio of bads among data. The simulation results say that the currently used validation criteria are too lower than values of K-S statistics obtained from any credit rating models in Korea, so that any credit rating models have good discriminatory power. In this work, alternative criteria of K-S statistic are proposed as critical levels under realistic situations of credit rating models.

  • The probability of default on the credit evaluation study is represented as a linear combination of two distributions of default and non-default, and the distribution of the probability of default are generally known in most cases. Except the well-known Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic for testing the identity of two distribution, Kuiper, Cramer-Von Mises, Anderson-Darling, and Watson test statistics are introduced in this work. Under the assumption that the population distribution is known, modified Cramer-Von Mises, Anderson-Darling, and Watson statistics are proposed. Based on score data generated from various probability density functions of the probability of default, the modified test statistics are discussed and compared.

A Programming of Hydrologic Analysis Procedure for the Probable Isohyetal Chart in Korea (한국 확률강우량도 작성을 위한 수문해석방법 개발)

  • The present study is to develop the hydrologic analysis procedure for the purpose of drawing the probable isohyetal charts in Korea. In the establishment of optimal distribution types, the eleven continuous probability distribution types included the transformed variable normal distribution (Y-k method) is applied to the annual maximum rainfall depth series in each duration. The optimal selection of distribution is done by Chi-square test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test in the eui-class interval. The application of probability distribution is checked by the fitting on four durations of annual maximum rainfall data(10 min., 60 min., 6 hrs., and 24hrs.) at four meteorological stations in Korea (Seoul, In Cheon, Bu san, and Kwang Ju). The properties in hydrologic application of the considered distribution and the hydrologic characteristics of the applied rainfall data groups are investigated from the results of this study.

A Study on User Authentication based on Keystroke Dynamics of Long and Free Texts (자유로운 문자열의 키스트로크 다이나믹스를 활용한 사용자 인증 연구)

  • Keystroke dynamics refers to a way of typing a string of characters. Since one has his/her own typing behavior, one's keystroke dynamics can be used as a distinctive biometric feature for user authentication. In this paper, two authentication algorithms based on keystroke dynamics of long and free texts are proposed. The first is the K-S score, which is based on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and the second is the 'R-A' measure, which combines 'R' and 'A' measures proposed by Gunetti and Picardi (2005). In order to verify the authentication performance of the proposed algorithms, we collected more than 3,000 key latencies from 34 subjects in Korean and 35 subjects in English. Compared with three benchmark algorithms, we found that the K-S score was outstanding when the reference and test key latencies were not sufficient, while the 'R-A' measure was the best when enough reference and test key latencies were provided.

Estimation of Design Floods Using 3 and 4 Parameter Kappa Distributions (3변수 및 4변수 Kappa 분포에 의한 설계홍수량 추정)

  • This paper is to induce design floods through L-moment with 3 and 4 parameter Kappa distributions including test of independence by Wald-Wolfowitz, homogeneity by Mann-Whitney and outlier by Grubbs-Beck on annual maximum flood flows at 9 water level gaging stations in Han, Nakdong and Geum Rivers of South Korea. After analyzing appropriateness of the data of annual maximum flood flows by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, 3 and 4 Kappa distributions were applied and the appropriateness was judged. The parameters of 3 and 4 Kappa distributions were estimated by L-moment method and the design floods by water level gaging station was calculated. Through the comparative analysis using the relative root mean square errors (RRMSE) and relative absolute errors (RAE) calculated by 3 and 4 parameter Kappa distributions with 4 plotting position formulas, the result showed that the design floods by 4 parameter Kappa distribution with Weibull and Cunnane plotting position formulas are closer to the observed data than those obtained by 3 parameter Kappa distribution with 4 plotting position formulas and 4 parameter Kappa distribution with Hazen and Gringorten plotting position formulas.

Tests based on EDF statistics for randomly censored normal distributions when parameters are unknown

  • Goodness-of-fit techniques are an important topic in statistical analysis. Censored data occur frequently in survival experiments; therefore, many studies are conducted when data are censored. In this paper we mainly consider test statistics based on the empirical distribution function (EDF) to test normal distributions with unknown location and scale parameters when data are randomly censored. The most famous EDF test statistic is the Kolmogorov-Smirnov; in addition, the quadratic statistics such as the $Cram{\acute{e}}r-von$ Mises and the Anderson-Darling statistic are well known. The $Cram{\acute{e}}r-von$ Mises statistic is generalized to randomly censored cases by Koziol and Green (Biometrika, 63, 465-474, 1976). In this paper, we generalize the Anderson-Darling statistic to randomly censored data using the Kaplan-Meier estimator as it was done by Koziol and Green. A simulation study is conducted under a particular censorship model proposed by Koziol and Green. Through a simulation study, the generalized Anderson-Darling statistic shows the best power against almost all alternatives considered among the three EDF statistics we take into account.

  • Nowadays Climate disasters are frequently happening due to occasional occurrences of EI Nino and La Nina events and among them, water shortage is one of the serious problems. To cope with this problem, climate model simulations can give very helpful information. To utilize the climate model for enhancing the water resources planning techniques, probabilistic measures of the effectiveness of global climate model (GCM) simulations of an indicator variable for discriminating high versus low regional observations of a target variable are proposed in this study. The objective of this study is to present the various analysis methods to find the suitable application methods of GCM information for Korean water resources planning. The basic formulation uses the significance probability of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for detecting differences between two variables. The various methods for adopting correct association, changing the window size, discrimination condition, and the use of temporally down scaled data were proposed to find out the suitable way for Korean water resources planning.

의사결정나무에서 순서형 분리 변수 선택에 관한 연구

  • 지금까지 의사결정나무에서 분리 변수의 선택에 관한 연구는 많았으나, 대부분 연속형 변수와 명목형 변수에 국한되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 순서형 변수에 주목하여 CART, QUEST, CRUISE 등 기존 알고리즘과 본 연구에서 제안하는 비모수적 접근 방법인 K-S test, framer-von Misos test 방법의 변수 선택력을 비교하였다. 그 결과 본 연구에서 제안하는 framer-von Mises test 방법이 다른 알고리즘에 비하여, 변수 선택력과 안정성에 있어서 좋은 성과를 보였다.

Likelihood ratio in estimating Chi-square parameter

  • The most frequent use of the chi-square distribution is in the area of goodness-of-t of a distribution. The likelihood ratio test is a commonly used test statistic as the maximum likelihood estimate in statistical inferences. The recently revised versions of the likelihood ratio test statistics are used in estimating the parameter in the chi-square distribution. The estimates are compared with the commonly used method of moments and the maximum likelihood estimate.
