Knowledge Management Assessment Using PDCA based in Global and Local Standards: in the Case of Technics and Informatics Studies

  • This research aims to contribute to the discipline of knowledge management (KM) in Higher Education (HE), and is conducted using the case of the study programme (SP) for Integrated Academic Studies (IAS) of Technics and Informatics (TI). A deduction-induction methodology is applied, using a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach to design a suitable KM concept for making improvements to the SP IAS TI on the standardisation platform. Based on the application of the International Classification of Standards (ICS), the research analyses the correlations and competences acquired during the courses within the accredited TI study programme of two-course studies. On the basis of the results of a comparative analysis of the developmental learning process and educational goals, it is shown that knowledge management in correlation with standardisation leads to the improvement of study programmes in the upcoming accreditation cycle on the standardisation platform. Frequent innovations within standardised thematic fields (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) indicate the need for appropriate changes to the SP. The contribution to KM is through an original analysis of annual samples of more than 90,000 standardised sources in correlation with the TI study programme. Expert System (ES) modelling and the original results enable an analogous contribution to the future KM of other SPs.

The Impact of Information Technology on Organizational Performance: The Mediating Effect of Organizational Learning

  • This study aims to examine OL as a potential mediating variable in the relationship between IT and organizational performance. Organizational learning (OL) has been proposed as the mechanism to accomplish this task. Existing empirical research demonstrates that OL may indeed act as a mediator for the effect of IT on organizational outcomes. Also, existing literature discusses the use of technology in the organization, and the case for OL as the key knowledge process, and the intersection between technology and OL as a knowledge-based means for improving organizational performance. Many studies use a descriptive measure of OL despite the theory suggesting that a normative measure may be more appropriate. This study aims to address these concerns in a setting by using structural equation modelling (SEM) to compare the effectiveness of descriptive and normative measures of OL as mediating variables in knowledge-intensive organizations. Survey results support OL as a mediator between IT and organizational performance in addition to normative measures of OL outperforming descriptive measures. Implications for research and practice are discussed. To test the model, we will apply (SEM) structural equation modeling in the analysis of a moment structures (AMOS) on the empirical evidence collected from 218 Pakistani CEOs and top managers.

유기농 식품에 대한 객관적 지식.주관적 지식.위험지각 및 구매의도와의 관계 : 식품안전 위험지각의 매개효과 (The Relationships of Consumers' Objective Knowledge, Subjective Knowledge, Risk Perception and Purchase Intention of Organic Food : A Mediating Effect of Risk Perception towards Food Safety)

  • 본 연구는 최근 환경오염의 심각성과 함께 대두되고 있는 식품의 안전성과 관련하여 소비자들의 유기농식품 지식과 환경에 대한 위험지각과의 관계 검증을 통하여 유기농식품 구매약도를 살펴보고자 수행되어졌다. 서울과 울산에 거주하는 주부를 대상으로 총 311부의 자료를 실증분석에 사용하였으며 가설 검증을 위해 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 AMOS 분석을 실시하였다. 결과를 살펴보면 소비자들이 지닌 유기농 식품에 대한 객주관적 지식은 주관적 지식과 유의한 관계를 보였으나 구매의도에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 객관적 지식과 위험지각 간의 관계는 유의하게 나타났다. 주관적 지식은 구매의도와 위험지각에 높은 영향력을 가지는 것으로 나타냈으며 소비자들의 환경에 대한 위험 지각이 높을수록 유기농식품 구매의도가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 구매의도에 대한 간접효과에서는 객관적 지식, 주관적 지식 모두 위험지각을 통해 유의한 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났고 위험지각도 객관적 지식, 주관적 지식을 통한 유의적인 간접효과를 보여주는 것으로 나타났다.

텍스트 내용 지식 기반의 철학 온톨로지 구축 (Implementation a Philosophy Ontology based on Knowledge of Text Contents)

  • 시맨틱 웹이나 지식기반 시스템에서 지식 검색의 핵심 컴포넌트는 온톨로지이다. 하지만 현재 실용적인 온톨로지가 구축된 경우를 찾아보기는 어렴다. 실용적인 온톨로지 구축을 위해서는 특정 도메인의 지식 전문가에 의한 지식의 개념화와 온톨로지 설계자에 의한 지식의 명세화가 필요하며 이를 바탕으로 개발 팀원들 사이에 공유할 수 있는 자세한 온톨로지 생성 가이드라인이 필요하다. 그러나 기존의 온톨로지 생성 방법론은 은톨로지 구축 프로세스의 단계들을 상위 수준에서 나열하는 절차 중심의 방법론이다 본 논문에서는 철학 학문의 지식을 구조화하는 실용적인 온톨로지를 구축하는 방법으로서 텍스트 내용에 들어있는 지식을 온톨로지로 생성하는 토픽맵 기반의 덱스트 온톨로지 방법론을 제시하였다. 이 방법론은 지식 자원으로부터 지식을 분석하고 추출하는 온톨로지 모델링 단계와 형식 언어와 데이타 모델을 이용하여 온톨로지를 생성하는 온톨로지 구현 단계로 구성된다. 방법론과 함께 본 논문에서는 철학 온톨로지에 기반한 철학 지식 검색의 효율성을 보이기 위해 철학 지식 포털을 구현하였다.

  • Hazard and operability (HAZOP) analysis is one of the safety analysis method that is used in the chemical complex, because it can systematically identify causes and consequences of all the deviation that could occur. Since this method needs to hire specialized experts, it is costly and time-consuming. Therefore HAZOP Expert System has been developed to automate this analysis. This approach introduced object-oriented method and knowledge representation which is hierarchical tree of units to supply flexibility in the system, functional semantic network, propagation equation and rule-chaining method to set up the expert system for automating HAZOP analysis.

Development of physiological pharmacokinetic model

  • The development of physiologically based pharmacokinetic model for drug distribution and excretion is described. The physiological modeling procedure is useful in animal and clinical applications to obtain fundamental knowledge of the transport and metabolism of a substance in vivo. In this paper a review of physiologically based pharmacokinetics is presented in the hope of understanding and increasing the use of this modelling technique. The method of model development and the composition of equations based on the different models are explained. For the better understanding a physiological pharmacokinetic model of tenoxicam disposition in the rat is presented as an example of flow limited model.

  • The prediction of wave setup is an important part of modelling coastal inundation and flooding in coastal rivers but there are still some gaps in our knowledge particularly with respect to the conditions in river entrances. One of the reasons that wave setup is still not fully understood, almost fifty years after it was first observed in the field and subsequently reported by Thorndike Saville (1961) and by Dorrestein (1961), is that it is difficult to measure accurately in the field.   • In general many engineers can diagnose the fault condition using the abnormal ones among data monitored from a diesel engine, but they don't need the system modelling or identification for the work. They check the abnormal data and the relationship and then catch the fault condition of the engine. This paper proposes the construction of a fault diagnosis engine through malfunction data gained from the data fault detection system of neural networks for diesel generator engine, and the rule inference method to induce the rule for fuzzy inference from the malfunction data of diesel engine like a site engineer with a fuzzy system. The proposed fault diagnosis system is constructed in the sense of the Malfunction Diagnosis Engine(MDE) and Hierarchy of Malfunction Hypotheses(HMH). The system is concerned with the rule reduction method of knowledge base for related data among the various interactive data.

A BIM-based model for constructability assessment of conceptual design

  • The consideration of constructability issues at the design stage can lead to improved construction performance with smooth project delivery and savings in time and money. Empirical studies demonstrate the value obtained by integrating construction knowledge with the building design process, and its benefits for owners, contractors and designers. However, it is still a challenge to implement the concept into current design practice. There is a need for a decision support tool to aid designers in reviewing their design constructability, deploying current technological tools, such as BIM. Such tools are beneficial at the conceptual design stage when there is a room to improve the design significantly with less incurred cost. This research investigates how current process- and object-oriented models can be used to assess design constructability. It proposes a BIM-based model using embedded information within the design environment to conduct the assessment. The modelling framework is demonstrated in four key parts; namely, the conceptual design model, the constructability assessment model, the assessment process model and the decision-making phase. Each is associated with a set of components and functions that contribute towards the targeted constructability assessment outcomes. The proposed framework is the first to combine a numerical assessment system and a rule-based system, allowing for both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The modelling framework and its implementation through a prototype are described in this paper. It is believed that this framework is the first to enable users to transfer their construction knowledge and experience directly into a design platform linked to BIM models. The assessment criteria can be customised by the users who can reflect their own constructability preferences into various specialised profiles that can be added to the constructability assessment model. It also allows for the integration of the assessment process with the design phase, facilitating the optimisation of constructability performance from the early design stage.

An Empirical Investigation of the Impact of Customer Learning on Customer Experience in the Context of Knowledge Product Use

  • The role of customers has changed from that of passive users to value co-creators. Therefore, it is important to understand how customer learning takes place and how it affects customer experiences with services and products. However, while past studies insist on the importance of the issues in designing customer experiences, they do not empirically address these issues. This study investigates the support processes for customer learning, and their impact on customer learning, which in turn influences customer experience. To test the hypotheses, we employed the survey method. Target informants were the actual users of Apple iPods. A total of 200 survey questionnaires were distributed and 146 were collected. Among these, seven erroneous responses were excluded, leaving 139 usable ones. The proposed model was empirically analyzed using the Covariance-based SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) technique. The findings of this study suggest that, among the three support processes in customer learning, learning-by-doing support and learning-by-investment support positively affect customer learning, which influences customer experience. This study contributes to the literature by identifying different types of support for different kinds of customer learning processes and by empirically testing the impact of the support for the process on customer learning, and in turn, its impact on customer experience.
