  • This study was carried out to determine the optimum harvest date of unshelled immature peanuts and dried kernels from 60 to 120 days after flowering. Fresh pod yield of spanish-type variety, 'Shaedl-tangkong(SD)' reached a peak of 9,140kg/ ha at 70 (days after flowering(Aug. 13) while that of virginia-type variety, 'Daepoongtangkong(DP)' reached a peak of 8,820kg/ha at 90 days(Sept. 11) after flowering. SD and DP showed maximum fresh kernel yield of 6,090 and 6,470kg/ha at 90 days after flowering (Sept. 11), respectively, while dry kernel yield reached a peak of 3,300 and 3,720kg/ha at 110 days(Oct. 1), respectively. Oil content of SD and DP were the highest at 90 days and 100 days after flowering, respectively and the oil content of two varieties increased rapidly from 60 to 90 days. Tannin content of the seed hull of SD increased continuously until 110 days after flowering while that of DP maximized at 100 days. The tannin content of the two varieties increased rapidly from 60 to 100 days. Total sugar of SD and DP showed highest content at 60 days and 70 days after flowering, respectively and suger content decreased very rapidly until 80 days and after that sugar content kept nearly constant. Oil, tannin and total sugar content of spanish-type SD were higher than those of virginia-type DP.

  • It is estimated and analyzed that the design wave height and the confidence interval (hereafter CI) according to the return period using the fourteen-year wave data obtained at Pusan New Port. The functions used in the extreme value analysis are the Gumbel function, the Weibull function, and the Kernel function. The CI of the estimated wave heights was predicted using one of the Monte-Carlo simulation methods, the Bootstrap method. The analysis results of the estimated CI of the design wave height indicate that over 150 years of data is necessary in order to satisfy an approximately ${\pm}$10% CI. Also, estimating the number of practically possible data to be around 25~50, the allowable error was found to be approximately ${\pm}$16~22% for Type I PDF and ${\pm}$18~24% for Type III PDF. Whereas, the Kernel distribution method, a typical non-parametric method, shows that the CI of the method is below 40% in comparison with the CI of the other methods and the estimated design wave height is 1.2~1.6 m lower than that of the other methods.

  • In this paper we derive a Berry-Esseen type bound for the kernel density estimator of a random left truncated model, in which each datum (Y) is randomly left truncated and is sampled if $Y{\geq}T$, where T is the truncation random variable with an unknown distribution. This unknown distribution is estimated with the Lynden-Bell estimator. In particular the normal approximation rate, by choice of the bandwidth, is shown to be close to $n^{-1/6}$ modulo logarithmic term. We have also investigated this normal approximation rate via a simulation study.

  • The compression creep behavior of grains when loaded depends not only on load but also on duration of load application. The most common methods of studying the load-time characteristics of agricultural products is by employing rheological models such as Burger's model. However it is sometimes not sufficient to describe the viscoelastic behavior of grains to be Burger's model. For this reason, this study was conducted to develop the rheological model which represented the creep compliance response of the rough rice kernel and was a function of initial stress applied and time. The effects of the initial stress applied and the moisture content on the compression creep behavior of the rough rice kernel were analyzed. The results were obtained from the study as follows: 1. Since the viscoelastic behavior of the rough rice kernel was nonlinear, the transient and steady state creep compliance was satisfactorily modelled as follows: $$J({\sigma},t)=A{\sigma}^B[C+Dt-exp(-Ft)]$$ But, for the every stress applied, the compression creep behavior of the samples tested can be well described by Burger's model respectively. 2. The creep compliance, the instantaneous elastic strain, the retarded elastic strain and the viscous strain of the sample tested generally increased in magnitude with increasing the applied initial stress and the moisture content used in the tests. At low moisture content, the creep compliance for the Japonica-type rough rice kernel Was a little higher than those for Indica-type and at high moisture content, vice versa at high moisture content. 3. The retardation times of the samples had not an uniform tendency by the initial stress and the moisture content. The retardation times ranged from 0.66 to 6.76 seconds, and the creep progressed from transient to steady state at a relatively high rate. 4. The less viscous strain than the instantaneous elastic strain for the samples tested indicated that rough rice kernel behaved as a viscoelastic body characterized by elasticity than viscosity.

  • This paper is based on the study to reduce a system panic state. A panic state could be caused by a programmer or an administrator's careless mistake. The proposed hardening Operating System of this paper stops the process which is running in the kernel with an error. The error process for the value type and the address type of a certain variable have to be restored. Installed with kernel hardening, Operating System checks the recovery possibility of the process first and then restores the process which can be recovered. When it is possible to recover the kernel code with an error, it is to be recovered in ASSERT() function.

  • Rice quality is considered to have two general meanings; 1) milling, cooking, and processing quality, which refer to suitability of the grain for a particular end-use; and 2) physical quality, which means cleanliness, soundness, and freedom from foreign materials. Grain type is associated with specific milling, cooking, and processing characteristics. Thus, this experiment was conducted to classify the grain type categories and marketing grades for Korean leading rice varieties. Length: width ratio of brown rice kernel ranged from 1.57 to 2.25 and most of varieties belonged to short grain except Tongil type rice varieties. Mean of length: width ratio of brown rice kernel was 1.77 and coefficient of variance was 4.79% in short grain type varieties. Grain shape could be further classified into 5 types by length:width ratio of brown rice kernel; 1 type(less than 1.75), 2 type(1.76∼1.80), 3 type(1.81∼1.90), 4 type(1.91∼2.00), and 5 type (greater than 2.00). For 1 and 2 type of varieties, woven wire sieve having 1.7mm openings showed better whole-kernel yields for special marketing grade, and sieve having 2.0mm openings for 3 and 4 type of varieties. Grain type which classified into 5 categories was not associated with physicochemical and cooking characteristics of rice grain, but sensory evaluation of cooked rice showed better score for 1 type varieties in terms of appearance, gloss, flavor, texture, stickiness, and taste.

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the change in misture content on some physical properties of grains, and some relations amont the properties. Materials included ere rough rice, brown rice, barley and wheat with the range of moisture content of 6~26 percent, 7~25 percent, 10~24 percent and 6~22 percent, respectively. Kernel dimension, sphericity, kernel weight, and volume were included as the physical properties of the grains. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. The ratio of grain length to the thickness was in the range of 3.59~4.16 for rough rice(Indica type), 2.98~3.27 for rough rice(Japonica type), 3.25 for brown rice (I.T.), 2.14~2.38 for brown rice(J.T.), 2.92~3.13 for barley and 2.10~2.21 for wheat, respectively. 2. The sphericity was found to be 42 percent for rough rice(I.T.), 48 percent for rough rice(J.T.), 52 percent for brown rice(I.T.), 62 percent for brown rice(J.T.), 45 percent for barley and 61 percent for wheat, respectively. 3. The kernel weight of grains was linealy increased with the increase of moisture content. At a specified moisture centent of 14 percent, the kernel weight was shown to be in the range of 4.72${\times}10^{-5}$~3.58${\times}10^{-5}$kg for wheat, 3.60${\times}10^{-5}$~3.12${\times}10^{-5}$kg for barley, 2.80${\times}10^{-5}$~2.35${\times}10^{-5}$kg for rough rice, and 2.24${\times}10^{-5}$~1.82${\times}10^{-5}$kg for brown rice, respectively. 4. The kernel volume was linearly increased with increase of moisture content. The rate of increase was significantly low for rough rice in comparison with the remaining grains. The kernel volume, at a specified moisture content of 14 percent, was in the range of 3.51${\times}10^{-8}$~2.76${\times}10^{-8}m^3$ for wheat, 2.84${\times}10^{-8}$~2.43${\times}10^{-8}m^3$ for barley, 2.93${\times}10^{-8}$~1.97${\times}10^{-8}m^3$ for rough rice, and 1.61${\times}10^{-8}$~1.29${\times}10^{-8}m^3$ for brown rice, respectively. 5. The kernel volume of grains was found to be related to the length, width, thickness and kernel weight as a exponential function. The kernel volume was shown to have correlation coefficient to the length factor rough rice and barley which were of low sphericity, while the width factor was predominant for brown rice and wheat which was of high sphericity.

  • A panic state is often caused by careless computer control. It could be also caused by a kernel programmer's mistake. It can make a big problem in computer system when it happens a lot. When a panic occurs, the process of the panic state has to be checked, then if it can be restored, operating system restores it, but if not, operating system runs the panic function to stop the system in the kernel hardening O.S. To decide recovery of the process, the type of the panic for the present process should be checked. 1'he value type and the address type have to restore the process. If the system process is in a panic state, the system should be designed to shutdown hardening function In the Linux operating system. So it has to decide whether the process should be restored or not before going to the panic state.

  • Coarse-grained reconfigurable architecture (CGRA)-based multi-core architecture aims at achieving high performance by kernel level parallelism (KLP). However, the existing CGRA-based multi-core architectures suffer from much energy and performance bottleneck when trying to exploit the KLP because of poor resource utilization caused by insufficient flexibility. In this work, we propose a new ring-based sharing fabric (RSF) to boost their flexibility level for the efficient resource utilization focusing on the kernel-stream type of the KLP. In addition, based on the RSF, we introduce a novel inter-CGRA reconfiguration technique for the efficient pipelining of kernel-stream on CGRA-based multi-core architectures. Experimental results show that the proposed approaches improve performance by up to 50.62 times and reduce energy by up to 50.16% when compared with the conventional CGRA-based multi-core architectures.

  • This paper proposes a convolution tree kernel-based approach for relation extraction where the parse tree is expanded with entity features such as entity type, subtype, and mention level etc. Our study indicates that not only can our method effectively capture both syntactic structure and entity information of relation instances, but also can avoid the difficulty with tuning the parameters in composite kernels. We also demonstrate that predicate verb information can be used to further improve the performance, though its enhancement is limited. Evaluation on the ACE2004 benchmark corpus shows that our system slightly outperforms both the previous best-reported feature-based and kernel-based systems.
