  • Sorensen proved that 'vague' is vague through a sorites paradox that he presented. I will show that his sorites paradox satisfies the conditions for a sorites paradox and does not satisfy those conditions. So we will face a new paradox which exemplifies inconsistency of conditions for a sorites paradox. But those conditions include a principle which says when two cases are close enough, there will be no change in truth value. It represents an essential feature of vagueness. Therefore the paradox I will present in this article is not only shows inconsistency of conditions for a sorites paradox but also shows inconsistency of vagueness itself.

  • The Pinocchio paradox that Eldridge-Smith suggested is a version of the semantic paradox. But it is unique in the sense that this paradox does not contain a semantic predicate. Tarski's solution which appeals to the hierarchy of language and Kripke's para-completeness which accepts the third truth value cannot solve the Pinocchio paradox. This paper argues that Eldridge-Smith's trial to criticize semantical dialetheism is not successful and that the paradox implies the rule of the truth predicate is inconsistent. That is, the proper diagnosis to this paradox is that the Pinocchio principle should be considered to be potentially inconsistent, which suggests that semantic paradoxes such as the liar paradox arise because the rule of the truth-predicate is inconsistent. The Pinocchio paradox teaches us that consistent view of truth cannot be successful to solve the semantic paradoxes and that we should accept the inconsistent view of truth.

  • Much of literature on the paradoxes of confirmation has been focused on the problems raised by the fact that a nonblack nonraven confirms the hypothesis that every raven is black. In this paper I would like to emphasize that more interesting problems are still waiting to be explained, if we notice that a black nonraven confirms the raven hypothesis as well. For this I examine what Hempel exactly means by the paradoxes of confirmation, and show that the previous discussions on the paradoxes were at most partial solutions. Then I argue that Hempel presupposes the so-called 'converse consequence condition' regarding confirmational evidence. Finally I discuss what impact is made on the Bayesian solution to the paradoxes, if we accept a more faithful interpretation to Hempel.

  • In his recent paper, Hanseung Kim (2014) discusses the Cable Guy paradox and argues that given the nature of regret, it is rational to bet on the cable guy's afternoon arrival, though it is equally probable for him to arrive in the morning or afternoon interval. In this paper, I argue that regret is not essential to the paradox in that the paradox still arises even if we ignore regret. I then briefly discuss a possible way to proceed to resolve the paradox.

  • Recently, remodeling construction project has been prevalently conducted in major city areas in Korea. However, remodeling construction project has a difficulty in conducting a construction because of non-existing drawing or lack of drawing information. To solve these problems, modeling techniques by using reverse engineering have been widely studied in other industries such as aerospace and automobile industry. But reverse engineering techniques have not been used in remodeling construction projects because those technology haven't supplied less accuracy during required time for surveying. So, this study suggests optimal method of acquiring accurate 3D laser scanner information for reverse engineering at interior remodeling project.

  • The Easterlin Paradox is widely accepted as a pioneer of happiness study in social science disciplines including Economics, Psychology, and Sociology. Moreover, it should be noted, the paradox has abundant implications on many social issues such as 'economic growth or social equity', 'basic income' and so forth. It is in this regard that this paper purports to understand debates around the paradox. For this purpose, the chapter two examines the theoretical perspectives of the Easterlin Paradox, and accordingly the chapter three examines the Easterlin Paradox debates since the early 1990s. In the context of the Easterlin paradox debates, the chapter four scrutinizes the debates around satiation point in income-happiness nexus and duly concludes with some social welfare implications.

  • Recently Byeong-Uk Yi has attempted to provide a novel solution to the paradox of before-effect by arguing that, upon drawing our attention to the notion of collective causation, we realize that there is a straightforward solution to the paradox. My aim in this paper is to show that Yi's solution fails. To this end, after making explicit two sources of the puzzlement in the paradox of before-effect, I set two requirements one must meet to resolve the paradox. And I argue that Yi's solution cannot meet both requirements at the same time.

  • The aim of this study was to suggest the System Architecture for Effective Architectural MEP Pipe Reverse Design(PRD) based on the Point Cloud and derive the consideration. To do this, the requirement and use-cases related to the MEP pipe reverse design work were defined and the architecture for the reverse design automation was proposed. To identify a consideration for finding the architecture issues, a prototype was developed using the architecture and evaluated.

  • We put forward a scheme of the theory of analysis, and G. E. Moore's theory of analysis is reconstructed. As C. H. Langford pointed out, Moore's theory commits to the paradox of analysis which says that if a analysis is correct then it is not informative, and if it is informative it is not correct. For, according to his theory, analysing statement is necessarily true identity statement and have some information. Moorean responses which is given by Max Black, Raymond Bradley and Norman Swartz, and Wilfrid Sellars rely on the distinction between the information about concepts and linguistic entity. These approaches are deficient in dealing properly with the difference in concepts as analysandum and analysans. Also, non-Moorean resolutions asserted by Myers, King, Black, and Earl are examined.
