  • The purpose of this study is to verify a correlation between flexi-bar exercise and improvement of trunk strength and body composition in juvenile soccer players. The subjects were 11 teenager juvenile soccer players who conducted flexi-bar exercise half an hour daily three times a week for eight weeks. They were tested for trunk muscles strength, body composition and correlation. The result showed that trunk muscles strength improved significantly(p<.01) and weight, Rt. arm muscle mass, Rt. leg muscle mass, and Lt. leg muscle mass(p<.05), Lt. arm muscle mass, trunk muscle mass, and body muscle mass(p<.01) improved significantly as well while Lt. arm fat mass, Rt. leg fat mass, and Lt. leg fat mass decreased significantly(p<.05). In the correlation analysis, the more trunk muscle mass and trunk muscles strength increased, the more muscle mass of body regions increased, which was a positive correlation whereas fat mass of body regions decreased, which was a negative correlation. It was verified that there was a correlation between flexi-bar exercise and improvement of trunk muscles strength and body composition for juvenile soccer players.

  • To determine a suitable dietary protein/lipid (CP/CL) ratio in the early juvenile stages of hybrid porgy ($F_1$), female red sea bream (RSB) ${\times}$ male black sea bream, five diets with various CP/CL ratios-60/7, 55/12, 51/17, 46/23, and 41/28-were prepared and provided to juveniles in triplicate. At the smaller juvenile stage, $F_1$, weighing 0.32 g, a significantly higher specific growth rate (SGR) and feed efficiency (FE) were seen with 60/7 and 55/12 diets. However, in RSB weighing 0.26 g, SGR and FE were higher with the 60/7 diet than the other diets at $21^{\circ}C$. At the larger juvenile stage, $F_1$, weighing 3.7 g, there was no significant difference in SGR or FE among the diets, but RSB weighing 4.0 g fed 60/7, 55/12, and 51/17 diets had higher SGR and FE than 46/23 and 41/28 diets at $24^{\circ}C$. Moreover, survival and apparent nutrient retention of $F_1$ at both stages were significantly higher than those in RSB. These results indicate that both $F_1$ and RSB weighing ca. 0.3 g require a higher dietary CP/CL than those weighing ca. 4 g. Additionally, $F_1$ in both trials showed the suitability of a lower dietary CP/CL than RSB, indicating that mass production of $F_1$ juveniles will be more economical than RSB.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the advertising regulations for juvenile protection, find their problems and suggest the alternatives for their improvements. All media products harmful to juveniles including advertising are regulated by the Juvenile Protection Act. The regulations related with advertising for juvenile protection of the Special Act on Safety Control of Children's Dietary Life, the Broadcasting Advertising Review Regulations and the National Health Improvement Act were analyzed. The results were: 1)the weaknesses of the implementation of the regulations with lack a little consistency and a lack of objectivity; 2)the necessity of the newly established articles with the times; and 3) the urgency of the establishment of alcohol advertising regulations. In conclusion, it has been suggested that the integrated advertising regulations or guidelines by the unitary review board should be implemented.

  • Pinus koraiensis is one of the most important reforestation species which had widely been planted around the country. Therefore, there are great research needs on the fundamental properties of wood to extend the frequency of uses and adequate availabilities. Research results on the characteristics of anatomical wood properties and changes are summarized as follows: 1. At a horizontal direction of tree trunk, the tracheid length at outer wood gradually becomes shorter as it reaches to pith. The tracheid length having between 32 and 42 annual rings showed over 2.5 times longer than that of pith, and also its length increases from the bottom to the top of the stem. 2. The tracheid diameters in latewood showed a little fluctuations, and the shortest near to the pith in earlywood. The tracheid diameters in earlywood are more than 2 times those of latewood, and the differences between the mature and juvenile wood in earlywood are less than 10${\mu}m$. 3. The tracheid wall thickness in early wood showed a little fluctuations. On the contrary, tracheid wall thickness in latewood rapidly increases from the pith to the bark. The tracheid wall of mature wood showed 10 to 20% thicker than that of juvenile wood. 4. The fibril angle at the secondary walls of tracheid within an annual ring showed higher degree in earlywood than that of latewood. The highest tracheid fibril angle was observed at around the pith of both earlywood and latewood. Then, fibril angle slowly decreased toward outer wood, and was stabilized after 15 years. 5. Structural boundaries between mature and juvenile wood from Pinus koraiensis are divided by 13 to 19 annual ring and distance of 5 to 8cm from the pith.

  • We presented detailed morphological descriptions of the eggs, larvae and juvenile of Acanthaphritis unoorum based on specimens collected with bongo nets from Korean waters during the period May 2017-July 2018. We collected 18 individuals including eggs (n= 4, 0.77-0.85 mm in egg diameter), preflexion larvae (n= 6, 4.11-6.31 mm in standard length, SL), flexion larvae (n= 4, 6.60-7.82 mm SL), postflexion larvae (n= 3, 8.94-13.46 mm SL), and one juvenile (n= 1, 14.67 mm SL). The mitochondrial (mt) DNA 16S rRNA sequences of the eggs, and the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) sequences of the larvae were identical to those of A. unoorum adults (genetic distances <0.01). The A. unoorum larvae and the juvenile that we collected were morphologically similar to those of Dactylopsaron dimorphicum, but the A. unoorum specimens were readily distinguishable by the presence of lateral melanophores. This is the first record of A. unoorum in Korean waters. We propose a new Korean name for A. unoorum: "O-ri-bu-ri-nuntung-i".

  • This study identifies the factors that influence juvenile delinquency, which has increased both offline and online. It is hypothesized that the influence of negative parenting on online and offline juvenile delinquency is mediated through smartphone dependency and personal emotional problems. In addition, the study hypothesizes that participation in cultural activities soothes the influence. Using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 20.0 programs, we conducted a confirmatory factor analysis, a multi-mediation analysis, and a cross-group comparative analysis. The analyses found the significant mediation effect of smart phone dependence and personal emotional problems on the relationship between negative parenting and juvenile delinquiency. Participation in cultural activities overall weakens the hypothesized effects.

  • This study conducted a horticultural therapy program for trainees entrusted to the Juvenile Classification Review Center in order to fill the educational gap while providing emotional stability during the one-month period of commissioned education. The effects of horticultural therapy were examined by the pretest and posttest changes of the emotional items such as anxiety, self-esteem, self-efficacy and stress index. As the research method, this study used the one-group pretest-posttest experimental design on 16 female trainees of commissioned education staying at the Juvenile Classification Review Center in the juvenile reformatory located in A city. The horticultural therapy program was carried out in four sessions: two on flower arrangement and two on planting. The scores before and after the horticultural therapy program were measured using the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS) to examine the effects of horticultural therapy on the reduction of anxiety for the adolescents staying in the Juvenile Classification Review Center. The results show that there was significant decrease in the mean of anxiety from 62.5 (SD = 6.8) to 57.6 (SD = 8.1) points after the program (p = .002). There was no significant change in self-esteem, which was 76.9 (SD = 11.2) before the horticultural therapy and 78.3 (SD = 8.7) after the therapy (p = .420). In self-efficacy, there was no significant change from 72.9 (SD = 10.9) before and 75.1 (SD = 11.0) after horticultural therapy (p = .178). In order to examine the physiological changes in such emotional functions, this study measured the stress index using the uBioMacpa as the tool. The result of the measurement showed that there was a significant change in the mean from 33.8 (SD = 2.3) before to 31.1 (SD = 2.2) after the horticultural therapy (p < .001).

  • This article aims to explore the possibility of forgiving among serious juvenile offenders placed in correctional facilities, as an alternative to current correctional approaches. The definition, characteristics, and misconceptions of forgiveness were outlined, and the two major models of forgiveness were introduced. The differences between the two concepts of forgiveness in psychological literature and in restorative justice were addressed. Based on the prior studies on the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences in serious juvenile delinquents and a recent forgiveness project conducted in a maximum-security prison, it was argued that it would be possible for a small number of serious juvenile offenders in correctional facilities to forgive someone who did injustice in the past, which would result in an improvement in the outcomes of correctional education and treatment. Some limitations of this article and the need of further studies were pointed out as well.
