Analysis on the Types of Mathematically Gifted Students' Justification on the Tasks of Figure Division (도형의 최대 분할 과제에서 초등학교 수학 영재들이 보여주는 정당화의 유형 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of the types(levels) of justification which are appeared by elementary mathematically gifted students in solving the tasks of plane division and spatial division. Selecting 10 fifth or sixth graders from 3 different groups in terms of mathematical capability and letting them generalize and justify some patterns. This study analyzed their responses and identified their differences in justification strategy. This study shows that mathematically gifted students apply different types of justification, such as inductive, generic or formal justification. Upper and lower groups lie in the different justification types(levels). And mathematically gifted children, especially in the upper group, have the strong desire to justify the rules which they discover, requiring a deductive thinking by themselves. They try to think both deductively and logically, and consider this kind of thought very significant.

  • In the present study, we analyze four seventh grade students' recognition of geometric properties and the following justification processes while their adopting different construction approaches in GSP(Geometer's Sketchpad). As the students recognized dependency and level-1 invariants by dragging activities, they determined their own construction approaches. Two students, who preferred robust construction, immediately recognized the path of a draggable point and provided step-1 justification. The other students attempted soft construction followed by their recognition of level-2 invariants and the path, and came to step-2 justification.

Children's Understanding of the Effect of Emotion on Moral Transgressions (도덕적 위반 행동의 결과에 대한 아동의 정서 이해)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine developmental trends in children's understanding of the effect of emotion on moral transgressions. The subjects were 120 children, 15 boys and 15 girls each at 4, 6, 8, and 10 years of age. The subjects listened to the moral transgression stories which were revised by this investigator based on Arsenio and Kramer's(1992) study. They reported their emotional attribution, justification, and emotional intensity about the story children engaged in moral transgression. The data of the present study were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ and 2-way ANOVA for repeated measures. The results showed that (1) most of the children expected victimizers to feel happy. While happy responses decreased with age, fear responses increased with age. Most of the four-year-olds expected victims to feel sad, but 6-, 8-, and 10-year-olds expected anger. (2) Most children justified victimizers' emotions in terms of the outcome produced by victimization. This outcome-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. In contrast, most children justified victims' emotion in terms of the victimization. This victimization-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. (3) Most children viewed physical harm more negatively than theft on the part of victims.

  • The purpose of this study is to research the Actual Introduction of Justification that mentioned in the middle school mathematics of 2009 Revised Curriculum. For this, researcher analyzed the new mathematics textbooks for 8th grade that will be applied 2014. Researcher and cooperators analyzed the 8th grade geometry using the criteria of advanced research. The conclusion of this study is following. Frist, Teacher need to present the various types of Justification to be used students of the different levels. Second, Teacher have to lead the activity of Justification to satisfy the needs of students.

  • The key competition factor of manufacturing industries has progressively changed from cost to quality and time. Recently, the manufacturing environments more rapidly change than before. So, many companies want to introduce a advanced manufacturing system like CIMS to meet various user's needs and short delivery. But there is a considerable gap between the decision to invest and the achievement of promised benefits. Managers, generally, cannot afford CIM invesment unless they can determine beforehand that CIM will work in thier company and that will provide a coherent strategy and satisfactory return on investment In many cases, it is impossible to justify CIM investment by only economical analysis. Decision making problems like CIM investment are of a multiple objective nature. So, decision making process and multiattribute utility function are very useful methods to evaluate CIM justification In this paper, we described the key functions of CIM justification evaluation using IDEF methodology and developed the applicattion procedure of DMP and MUF method for CIM justification.

  • A major problem in the adoption of advanced manufacturing systems such as F.M.S. (Flexible Manufacturing Systems) is the prerequisite economic justification process because of high investment needed for the acquisition and installation of F.M.S. While some of the benefits expected are readily quantifiable, others are very difficult or even impossible, using conventional method. Thus the investment in F.M.S. should be considered as a strategic decision rather than a tactical decision which concerns with only financial implications. In this paper we review papers on major justification techniques developed during thelast decade and identify the benefits of F.M.S. and describe the considerations in the justification of F.M.S. Also, we deal with the current and future research directions in justifying F.M.S.

  • Due to misbehavior of blackconsumer, companies bear higher financial burden and innocent consumers are also damaged. This study identified the characteristics of blackconsumer and their differences by demographics. Also this study scrutinizes the effects of blackconsumer characteristics on retaliation intention and self-justification. The analyses results identified three factors composing blackconsumer, namely deliberation, recidivism and persistency. Ages of 50s and 40s showed higher in persistency and 40s and 30s are higher in recidivism. Also the results showed that deliberation has a significant influence on self-justification where as recidivism and persistency have on both retaliation intention and self-justification.

An Exploration of Justification Types represented in the Geometry field of Middle School Mathematics Textbook (중학교 수학 교과서 분석을 통한 정당화 방안 탐색)

  • There have been several studies regarding strict and formal proof in the field of geometry in middle school curriculum, and the level of proof has been gradually lowered along with the changes in the curriculum. In the 2011 Revised Middle School Math Curriculum, there have been efforts to eliminate the term 'proof' and instead to replace it with the new one, 'justification'. Therefore, this study intends to present specific and practical examples of justification by analyzing the current math textbook especially in the field of geometry. As a result, it identified that strict and practical proof has been sharply increased in the second year of middle school. It also witnessed the possibility of justification from the various examples presented in the first, second, and the third year of the middle school math textbook.

Effects of Uncertainty on Continuous Intention by Type of Subscription: The Mediating Role of Ease of Justification (구독서비스 가입형태에 따른 불확실성 지각이 지속사용의도에 미치는 영향: 정당화 용이성의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of membership type for subscription service (individual subscription vs. group subscription) on continuous intention, and to verify the mediating effect of ease of justification and the moderated mediating effect of uncertainty. An experiment was conducted on 78 university students. As a result, consumers who use subscription services in group subscription showed higher intention to continue using the subscription service than consumers who use the subscription service in individual subscription. Also, the ease of justification mediates the effect on the intention to continue using. In addition, uncertainty was found to moderating effect of ease of justification on continuous use intention according to the type of subscription. This study understands the psychological mechanism of consumers according to the type of subscription service subscription and provides useful implications for companies that provide subscription services.

Variables Affecting the Expression of Friendship and Jealousy in Adolescents (청소년의 우정관계 질투표현에 영향을 미치는 변인)

  • This study used the hypothetical path model to investigate individual traits(attachment, reciprocal relationship, and self-esteem), situational evaluation(justification, and intention) and jealousy level in adolescents. Subjects were 853 7th, 9th, 11th grade students in the city of Daegu. Results showed that scores of girls were higher than boys on self-reported and peer-reported jealousy level, attachment, reciprocal relationship, adaptive expression and non-adaptive expression. Scores of boys were higher than girls for self-esteem, justification. Self-reported jealousy level was affected by situation evaluation(justification and intention) and attachment. Peer-reported jealousy level was affected by reciprocal relationship. Jealousy expression modes were affected by self-reported jealousy level and attachment.
