Estimating the Glass Transition of Oligosaccharides Mixtures through the State Diagram

  • State diagram of highly concentrated branched oligosaccharides (HBOS) was constructed to better understand phase behavior of mixtures with different size of oligosaccharides. It showed dramatic plasticizing effect on glass transition, which was successfully described based on Couchman-Karasz equation model. $T_g$' estimated from state diagram corresponded well with previous empirical data measured by maximum ice formation through isothermal holding (annealing) process. Estimated $T_g$' and $C_g$' values were $-36.3^{\circ}C$ and 79.99%, respectively. $T_g$' value of HBOS was approximately $10^{\circ}C$ higher than that of sucrose, while $C_g$' value was similar to those of general carbohydrate materials, which could be useful for applications in frozen system.

  • 400DPI LED array was fabricated by using reactive ion etching(RIE) method. Material of fabricated LED array was used the GaP for green light emitting and had a homojunction structure. Each cells of emitting area in the LED array were defined with RIE etching for electrical isolation between cells. Electrodes were formed on each cells to emit independently. Ohmic contact resistivity was approximate 1.2$\times$10$^{5}$ $\Omega$/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 1.26$\times$10$^{5}$ $\Omega$/$\textrm{cm}^2$ using isothermal annealing at 38$0^{\circ}C$ and 43$0^{\circ}C$. Emitting intensity of each etmitting cell was 1.65 cd/$m^2$.

  • Recently high strength steel sheets with high formability for automotive parts have been being developed to meet the demands for passenger safety and weight reduction of car body. Among these high strength steels, dual-phase steels are regarded as one of the attractive steels due to their excellent mechanical properties including high strength and ductility. However, to be successfully applied to automotive parts they should be corrosion resistant enough to satisfy the required quality of car maker. This also requires their feasibility for galvannealed production including hot dip galvanizability. In this study has been placed on understanding the effects of heat-treatment(austenizing and isothermal treatment) on the microstructures and mechanical properties of a 0.06C-0.03Si-2.0Mn high strength steel for cold forming. The microstructure and phase distribution were examined with eth aids of SEM, EBSD, TEM etc.. Through the study the production of 590MPa grade DP GA steels with good formability and galvaniability were shown to be possible.

  • A literature review was conducted to gather informations available on the welding metallurgy of aluminum alloys, emphasized on characteristics in the heat affected zone(HAZ). Nominal metallurgical reactions that occur in aluminum alloys provide a basis for understanding aluminum welding metallurgy. However, welding reactions differ to some extent because of the relatively short times involved, and the non-isothermal heating excursed. For non-heat treatable alloys, welding primarily affects these alloys by annealing (recrystallization and growth) and to a less extent, changes in low temperature precipitates. In the case of heat treatable alloys, the resulting HAZ properties depend upon alloy composition, starting temper, heat input and post weld heat treatments.

복합주조공정으로 제조한 Al/Cu 하이브리드 소재의 계면특성 (Interfacial Characteristics of Al/Cu Hybrid Materials Prepared by Compound Casting)

  • Aluminum-based hybrid parts were fabricated through a compound casting process with Al or Cu inserts which can be used for applications requiring high conductivity. Because the interface stability between the insert and the aluminum matrix is important, the effects of process variables on the interfacial adhesion strength were investigated. Additions of Cu and Mg to Al melt were found to enhance the adhesion strength, though the melt fluidity was slightly deteriorated when a small amount of Mg was added. An isothermal heating process after casting further improved the strength. However AlCu intermetallic compounds formed and their thickness increased during the heating process. As a result, deterioration in the interfacial adhesion strength was observed after an excessive annealing treatment.

  • In the present paper some of the magnetic properties of the nanocrystalline Fe-based magnets produced by an appropriate annealing of their metallic glass precursors are reviewed. These properties are discussed on the grounds of their characteristics measured at the elevated temperatures. It is shown that the effective magnetostriction these magnets display, results from the competition among two contributions of the opposite sign originating from the individual magnetic phases, crystalline phase and the residual glassy matrix in which the nanocrystallites are embedded. It is also shown that at certain conditions the magnets considered expose superparamagnetic behavior and that their isothermal magnetization characteristics can successfully be used to calculate the distribution of the particle volumes. Application of the recently invented new genetic algorithm method, a powerful tool to calculate these distributions is, finally, presented.

장시간 등온열화된 AISI316 오스테나이트강의 초음파 비선형성 (Ultrasonic Nonlinearity of AISI316 Austenitic Steel Subjected to Long-Term Isothermal Aging)

  • 본 연구는 고온강도와 화학적 안전성으로 산업기계 구조물의 주요 소재로 사용되고 있는 AISI316 오스테나이트기 스테인레스강의 장시간 등온열처리에 따른 초음파 비선형성 특성을 평가하였다. 장시간 등온열처리는 정해진 시간을 변수로 전기로에서 가속열처리를 수행하였다. 미세조직적으로 정밀분성을 통하여 장시간 열처리에 따른 초음파 비선형성의 변화와 미시적 손상거동을 면밀히 평가하였다. 초음파 비선형성은 1000시간까지 급격하게 감소하고 이후 서서히 감소하였다. 표면조직적으로 입계의 모양이 다각형에서 원형으로 변하며 특히, 1000시간에서는 쌍정이 모두 분해되었다. 입계에 존재하던 델타페라이트는 1000시간에서 관찰되지 않으며 ${\sigma}$상으로 지속적인 변태가 진행되었다. 결과적으로 열처리 초기에는 보이드나 전위의 소멸 그리고 쌍정의 소멸로 초음파 비선형성은 급격히 감소를 하고 이후에는 입계에 $Cr_{23}C_6$석출물의 생성과 ${\sigma}$상 생성으로 초음파 비선형성은 미소하지만 지속적으로 감소한 것으로 판단된다.

The Formation and Crystallization of Amorphous Ti50Cu50Ni20Al10 Powder Prepared by High-Energy Ball Milling

  • Amorphization and crystallization behaviors of $Ti_{50}Cu_{50}Ni_{20}Al_{10}$ powders during high-energy ball milling and subsequent heat treatment were studied. Full amorphization obtained after milling for 30 h was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. The morphology of powders prepared using different milling times was observed by field-emission scanning electron microscope. The powders developed a fine, layered, homogeneous structure with prolonged milling. The crystallization behavior showed that the glass transition, $T_g$, onset crystallization, $T_x$, and super cooled liquid range ${\Delta}T=T_x-T_g$ were 691,771 and 80 K, respectively. The isothermal transformation kinetics was analyzed by the John-Mehn-Avrami equation. The Avrami exponent was close to 2.5, which corresponds to the transformation process with a diffusion-controlled type at nearly constant nucleation rate. The activation energy of crystallization for the alloy in the isothermal annealing process calculated using an Arrhenius plot was 345 kJ/mol.

Al85Ce5Ni10 비정질 리본의 결정화 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Crystallization Behavior of Al85Ce5Ni10 Amorphous Ribbon)

  • Since amorphous alloys have been known to have better mechanical and chemical properties than crystalline alloys of the same composition, a great number of studies on the formation of Al-based amorphous alloys have been carried out actively. However, little has been obtained about the effect of Rare-Earth metal and Transition metal addition on amorphous phase formed by melt spinning method. This study included fabrication of amorphous alloy $Al_{85}Ce_5Ni_{10}$ by melt spinning methods and DTA, XRD, TEM analysis to determine crystalization behavoir. Annealing treatments were carried out in Ar atmosphere under isothermal and nonisothermal conditions. The diffraction pattern of non-heated ribbons showed broad form characteristic of glass metallic alloy. The crystallization of amorphous $Al_{85}Ce_5Ni_{10}$ takes place eutedtoidly by homogeneous formation of Al and MS-1, followed by precipitation of the $Al_{11}Ce_3$ and later $MS-1{\rightarrow}Al_3Ni$ transformation.

Al 박막의 힐록 형성에 미치는 Mo 하부층의 영향에 관한 실시간 분석 (In-situ Analysis on the Effect of Mo Underlayer on Hillock Formation Behavior in Al Thin Films)

  • The in-situ scanning electron microscopy observation of real-time hillock evolution in pure hi thin films on glass substrate during Isothermal annealing was analyzed quantitatively to understand the compressive stress relaxation mechanism by focusing on the effect of Mo interlayer between Al film and glass substrate. There is a good correlation between the hillock-induced stress relaxation by in-situ scanning electron microscopy observation ana the measured stress relaxation by wafer curvature method. It is also clearly shown that the existence of Mo interlayer plays an important role in hillock formation probably due to the large difference in interfacial diffusivity of Al films.
