A new dynamic RAM cell called Trench Epitaxial Transistor Cell (TETC) has been developed for 4M to 16M DRAMS. Also the fabrication process for device isolation which can decrease the narrow effect using SEG process has been developed. We verified the characteristic of the new cell structure with the PICSES simulator on VAX8450.

In this paper, we have studied isolation enhancement using a suppression of surface wave to improve performance of array antenna. To reduce isolation between elements of array antenna, perfect magnetic conductor(PMC) and SOFT-surface is designed and located at center of ground plane, isolation and gain is simulated by commercial full wave simulator(HFSS). As a result, isolation of more than 40 dB and gain improvement of 2.2 dBi are obtained at E-plane array in case of both PMC and SOFT-surface. At H-plane array, air coupling is dominant compared to coupling by surface wave. It is conclude that this study is useful for design of compact array antenna and performance improvement of array antenna.

The scale and nature of the recent earthquakes in the world and the related earthquake disaster index coerce the concerned community to become anxious about it. Therefore, it is crucial that seismic lateral load effect will be appropriately considered in structural design. Application of seismic isolation system stands as a consistent alternative against this hazard. The objective of the study is to evaluate the structural and economic feasibility of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings with base isolation located in medium risk seismic region. Linear and nonlinear dynamic analyses as well as linear static analysis under site-specific bi-directional seismic excitation have been carried out for both fixed based (FB) and base isolated (BI) buildings in the present study. The superstructure and base of buildings are modeled in a 3D finite element model by consistent mass approach having six degrees of freedom at each node. The floor slabs are simulated as rigid diaphragms. Lead rubber bearing (LRB) and High damping rubber bearing (HDRB) are used as isolation device. Change of structural behaviors and savings in construction costing are evaluated. The study shows that for low to medium rise buildings, isolators can reduce muscular amount of base shears, base moments and floor accelerations for building at soft to medium stiff soil. Allowable higher horizontal displacement induces structural flexibility. Though incorporating isolator increases the outlay, overall structural cost may be reduced. The application of base isolation system confirms a potential to be used as a viable solution in economic building design.

In earthquake situations, broadcasting and communication services are directly linked to rapid on-site rescue and effective restoration works. Recently, a variety of base isolation devices are widely introduced on building floors to avoid critical seismic damages of telecommunication facilities. However, in buildings with long fundamental periods, those devices may have undesirable amplification of seismic responses due to resonance effect between the building floors and base isolation devices. This study performs the seismic safety evaluation of two types of base isolation devices deployed for telecommunication facilities in mid- and high-rise buildings through numerical and experimental approaches. It is found that mid- and high-rise buildings can have low-frequency dynamic responses at the top floor when being subjected to design basis earthquake loading. Furthermore, bi-directional shake table testing demonstrated that the selected base isolation devices can exhibit unstable dynamic behaviors under such low-frequency excitations of the floor.

In this paper, a new small sized Lateral Trench Electrode Power MOS was proposed. This new structure, called LTEMOS(Lateral Trench Electrode Power MOS), was based on the conventional lateral power MOS. But the entire electrodes of LTEMOS were placed in trench oxide. The forward blocking voltage of the proposed LTEMOS was improved by 1.5 times with that of the conventional lateral power MOS. The forward blocking voltage of LTEMOS was about 240 V. At the same size, an improvement of the forward blocking voltage of about 1.5 times relative to the conventional MOS was observed by using ISE-TCAD which was used for analyzing device's electrical characteristics. Because all of the electrodes of the proposed device were formed in each trench oxide, the electric field was crowded to trench oxide and punch-through breakdown was occurred, lately.

In order to secure the stability against strong earthquakes, isolation devices on the existing nuclear power plant have been introduced. By applying the isolation device on structures, it is possible to isolate structures from the ground motion. Therefore, the natural frequencies of the structures become longer, and the responses of the structures due to the ground motion decrease. Especially, when designing the nuclear power plant, it is important to ensure the safety of internal devices as well as the nuclear power plant itself. The floor response spectrum is commonly used in designing the internal devices. In this research, floor response spectrum is evaluated and the effect of second hardening behavior is investigated by performing earthquake analysis.
We have developed a ground-isolation circuit in order to reduce the noise of the internal controller system for the total artificial heart(TAH) and ventricular assist device(VAD). Using the ground-isolation technique, we could transmit the analog target signal to other pheriperal device including IBM PC via RS232C and polygraph, with no noise. Experimental results of VAD showed that there was less impulsive noise in current signal which caused in our previous conventional system. Therefore it could be proved that implementation of isolation technique is very effective to improve the signal to noise ratios of analog signal transmission for TAH or VAD.

In this paper, the conventional vertical structure for VLSI circuits CMOS intend to improve the stress effects of active region and built-in threshold voltage. For these improvement, the proposed structure is shallow trench isolation of moat shape. We want to analysis the electron concentration distribution, gate bias vs energy band, thermal stress and dielectric enhanced field of thermal damage between vertical structure and proposed moat shape. Physically based models are the ambient and stress bias conditions of TCAD tool. As an analysis results, shallow trench structure were intended to be electric functions of passive as device dimensions shrink, the electrical characteristics influence of proposed STI structures on the transistor applications become stronger the potential difference electric field and saturation threshold voltage, are decreased the stress effects of active region. The fabricated device of based on analysis results data were the almost same characteristics of simulation results data.

Traditionally, multi-story buildings are designed to provide stiffer structural support to withstand lateral earthquake loading. Introducing flexible elements at the base of a structure and providing sufficient damping is an alternative way to mitigate seismic hazards. These features can be achieved with a device known as an isolator. This paper covers the design of base isolators for multi-story buildings in medium-risk seismicity regions and evaluates the structural responses of such isolators. The well-known tower building for police personnel built in Dhaka, Bangladesh by the Public Works Department (PWD) has been used as a case study to justify the viability of incorporating base isolators. The objective of this research was to establish a simplified model of the building that can be effectively used for dynamic analysis, to evaluate the structural status, and to suggest an alternative option to handle the lateral seismic load. A finite element model was incorporated to understand the structural responses. Rubber-steel bearing (RSB) isolators such as Lead rubber bearing (LRB) and high damping rubber bearing (HDRB) were used in the model to insert an isolator link element in the structural base. The nonlinearities of rubber-steel bearings were considered in detail. Linear static, linear dynamic, and nonlinear dynamic analyses were performed for both fixed-based (FB) and base isolated (BI) buildings considering the earthquake accelerograms, histories, and response spectra of the geological sites. Both the time-domain and frequency-domain approaches were used for dynamic solutions. The results indicated that for existing multi-story buildings, RSB diminishes the muscular amount of structural response compared to conventional non-isolated structures. The device also allows for higher horizontal displacement and greater structural flexibility. The suggested isolation technique is able to mitigate the structural hazard under even strong earthquake vulnerability.
