The visibility range is defined from where one can see, which can be changed by the character sizes and illuminances and so on, which of one-hundred and twelve students are measured for three illuminances and three character sizes in this paper. In determining the character sizes and illuminances, the visibility range can be an important data. Functions are proposed whose independent variable is illuminance and whose dependent variable is visibility range in order to predict the visibility range of unmeasured illuminances. The fractional functions are used for three character sizes because the visibility range is invariant according to illuminance. There are three parameters to be determined - k, m, n, which are selected based on the measured visibility ranges. Because the visibility ranges of three character sizes are measured, three k's can be calculated. In this paper the case of minimum variance of three k's is selected, and three parameters - k,m,n- of that case is selected. The three functions according to three character sizes are proposed. The small differences between the measured data and the postulated functions verifies the accuracy of the functions.
The effect of solvent structure on the slope in the plot of ln K vs. solute carbon number was examined. It was found that the free energy of methylene group transfer from the gas phase into a solvent was always negative and that the absolute magnitude of interaction free energy between the methylene group and the solvent was always larger than the absolute magnitude of cavity formation free energy of the methylene group in the solvent. Thus, the slope in the plot of ln K vs. solute carbon number was always positive and its value decreases with increase of solvent polarity since the cavity formation energy of the CH₂ unit increases with increase of solvent polarity while the dispersive interaction energy of the CH₂ unit is virtually invariant. We also examined the effect of sequential addition of CH₂ unit to a solvent molecule upon ln K for three homologous series of solvents: n-alkanes, n-alcohols, and n-nitriles. Characteristic trends in the plots of ln K vs. solvent carbon number were observed for individual solvent groups. A decrease of ln K with solvent carbon number was observed for n-alkanes. An abrupt increase in ln K followed by levelling off was observed for n-alcohols while a final slight decrease in ln K after an abrupt increase followed by rapid levelling off was noted for n-nitriles. All of theses phenomena were found related to variation in cavity formation energy. It was clearly shown that a structural change of a polar solvent by sequential addition of CH₂ units causes an abrupt polarity decrease initially, then gradual levelling off, and finally, conversion to a virtually nonpolar solvent if enough CH₂ units are added.

A three-dimensional time-domain calculation method is of crucial importance in prediction of the motions and wave loads of a ship advancing in a severe irregular sea. The exact solution of the free surface wave-ship interaction problem is very complicated because of the essentially nonlinear boundary conditions. In this paper, an approximate body nonlinear approach based on the three-dimensional time-domain forward-speed free-surface Green function has been presented. The Froude-Krylov force and the hydrostatic restoring force are calculated over the instantaneous wetted surface of the ship while the forces due to the radiation and scattering potentials over the mean wetted surface. The time-domain radiation and scattering potentials have been obtained from a time invariant kernel of integral equations for the potentials which are discretized according to the second-order boundary element method (Hong and Hong 2008). The diffraction impulse-response functions of the Wigley seakeeping model advancing in transient head waves at various Froude numbers have been presented. A simulation of coupled heave-pitch motion of a long rectangular barge advancing in regular head waves of large amplitude has been carried out. Comparisons between the linear and the approximate body nonlinear numerical results of motions and wave loads of the barge at a nonzero Froude number have been made.
Let (R, m) be a 2-dimensional regular local ring with algebraically closed residue field R/m. Let K be the quotient field of R and $\upsilon$ be a prime divisor of R, i.e., a valuation of K which is birationally dominating R and residually transcendental over R. Zariski showed that there are finitely many simple $\upsilon$-ideals $m\;=\;P_0\;{\supset}\;P_1\;{\supset}\;{\cdots}\;{\supset}\;P_t\;=\;P$ and all the other $\upsilon$-ideals are uniquely factored into a product of those simple ones [17]. Lipman further showed that the predecessor of the smallest simple $\upsilon$-ideal P is either simple or the product of two simple $\upsilon$-ideals. The simple integrally closed ideal P is said to be free for the former and satellite for the later. In this paper we describe the sequence of simple $\upsilon$-ideals when P is satellite of order 3 in terms of the invariant $b_{\upsilon}\;=\;|\upsilon(x)\;-\;\upsilon(y)|$, where $\upsilon$ is the prime divisor associated to P and m = (x, y). Denote $b_{\upsilon}$ by b and let b = 3k + 1 for k = 0, 1, 2. Let $n_i$ be the number of nonmaximal simple $\upsilon$-ideals of order i for i = 1, 2, 3. We show that the numbers $n_{\upsilon}$ = ($n_1$, $n_2$, $n_3$) = (${\lceil}\frac{b+1}{3}{\rceil}$, 1, 1) and that the rank of P is ${\lceil}\frac{b+7}{3}{\rceil}$ = k + 3. We then describe all the $\upsilon$-ideals from m to P as products of those simple $\upsilon$-ideals. In particular, we find the conductor ideal and the $\upsilon$-predecessor of the given ideal P in cases of b = 1, 2 and for b = 3k + 1, 3k + 2, 3k for $k\;{\geq}\;1$. We also find the value semigroup $\upsilon(R)$ of a satellite simple valuation ideal P of order 3 in terms of $b_{\upsilon}$.

Obstacle detection is an important task for many mobile robot applications. The methods using stereo vision and optical flow are computationally expensive. Therefore, this paper presents a vision-based obstacle detection method using only two view images. The method uses a single passive camera and odometry, performs in real-time. The proposed method is an obstacle detection method using 3D reconstruction from taro views. Processing begins with feature extraction for each input image using Dr. Lowe's SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) and establish the correspondence of features across input images. Using extrinsic camera rotation and translation matrix which is provided by odometry, we could calculate the 3D position of these corresponding points by triangulation. The results of triangulation are partial 3D reconstruction for obstacles. The proposed method has been tested successfully on an indoor mobile robot and is able to detect obstacles at 75msec.

Because most applications of vision-based object tracking demonstrate satisfactory operations only under very constrained environments that have simplifying assumptions or specific visual attributes, these approaches can't track target objects for the highly variable, unstructured, and dynamic environments like a traffic scene. An adaptive fusion framework is essential that takes advantage of the richness of visual information such as color, appearance shape and so on, especially at cluttered and dynamically changing scenes with partial occlusion[1]. This paper develops a particle filter based adaptive fusion framework and improves the robustness and adaptation of this framework by adding a new distinctive visual attribute, an image feature descriptor using SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform)[2] and adding an automatic teaming scheme of the SIFT feature library according to viewpoint, illumination, and background change. The proposed algorithm is applied to track various traffic objects like vehicles, pedestrians, and bikes in a driver assistance system as an important component of the Intelligent Transportation System.

Chronic virus infection leads to the functional impairment of dendritic cells (DCs) as well as T cells, limiting the clinical usefulness of DC-based therapeutic vaccine against chronic virus infection. Meanwhile, B cells have been known to maintain the ability to differentiate plasma cells producing antibodies even during chronic virus infection. Previously, ${\alpha}$-galactosylceramide (${\alpha}GC$) and cognate peptide-loaded B cells were comparable to DCs in priming peptide-specific $CD8^+$ T cells as antigen presenting cells (APCs). Here, we investigated whether B cells activated by ${\alpha}GC$ can improve virus-specific T cell immune responses instead of DCs during chronic virus infection. We found that comparable to B cells isolated from naïve mice, chronic B cells isolated from chronically infected mice with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) clone 13 (CL13) after ${\alpha}GC$-loading could activate CD1d-restricted invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells to produce effector cytokines and upregulate co-stimulatory molecules in both naïve and chronically infected mice. Similar to naïve B cells, chronic B cells efficiently primed LCMV glycoprotein (GP) 33-41-specific P14 $CD8^+$ T cells in vivo, thereby allowing the proliferation of functional $CD8^+$ T cells. Importantly, when ${\alpha}GC$ and cognate epitope-loaded chronic B cells were transferred into chronically infected mice, the mice showed a significant increase in the population of epitope-specific $CD8^+$ T cells and the accelerated control of viremia. Therefore, our studies demonstrate that reciprocal activation between ${\alpha}GC$-loaded chronic B cells and iNKT cells can strengthen virus-specific T cell immune responses, providing an effective regimen of autologous B cell-based therapeutic vaccine to treat chronic virus infection.

[ $LiCoO_{2}$ ] is the most common cathode electrode materials in Lithium-ion batteries. $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ was synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. We investigated crystal structures, electrical conductivities and electrochemical properties. The crystal structure of $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ was analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The material showed a single phase of a layered structure with the space group R-3m. The lattice parameter(a, c) of $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ was larger than that of $LiCoO_2$. The electrical conductivity of sintered samples was measured by the Van der Pauw method. The electrical conductivities of $LiCoO_2$ and $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ were $2.11{\times}10^{-4}\;S/cm$ and $2.41{\times}10^{-1}\;S/cm$ at room temperature, respectively. On the basis of the Hall effect analysis, the increase in electrical conductivities of $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ is believed due to the increased carrier concentrations, while the carrier mobility was almost invariant. The electrochemical performance was investigated by coin cell test. $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ showed improved cycling performance as compared with $LiCoO_2$.
Most conventional instruments measuring disability rely on total score by simply adding individual item responses, which is dependent on the items chosen to represent the underlying construct (test-dependent) and a test statistic, such as coefficient alpha for the estimate of reliability, varying from sample to sample (sample-dependent). By contrast, item response theory (IRT) method focuses on the psychometric properties of the test items instead of the instrument as a whole. By estimating probability that a respondent will select a particular rating for an item, item difficulty and person ability (or disability) can be placed on same linear continuum. These estimates are invariant regardless of the item used (test-free measurement) and the ability of sample applied (sample-free measurement). These advantages of IRT allow the creation of invariantly calibrated large item banks that precisely discriminate the disability levels of individuals. Computer adaptive testing (CAT) method often requiring a testing algorithm promise a means for administering items in a way that is both efficient and precise. This method permits selectively administering items that are closely matched to the ability level of individuals (measurement precision) and measuring the ability without the loss of precision provided by the full item bank (measurement efficiency). These measurement properties can reasonably be achieved using IRT and CAT method. This article aims to investigate comprehensive overview of the existing disability instrument for back pain and to inform physical therapists of an alternative innovative way overcoming the shortcomings of conventional disability instruments. An understanding of IRT and CAT method will equip physical therapist with skills in interpreting the measurement properties of disability instruments developed using the methods.
Since PISA2006, the computer based assessment in mathematics(CBAM) was introduced for the first times and at last PISA2015 used all items in CBAM for problem solving. In this study, we focused on which important properties were considered in constructing geometric 'fence items' used in PISA 2015 to find the future direction over our teacher education, especially for constructing 'computer based assessment items.' For the purpose of the study, we analyzed the fence items on three components such as dependency, invariant, and path found in dragging activities, within a computer environment using the dynamic Geometry Software, GSP. Also, for the future, we provided an open-ended problem related to the fence items, which we could use as the merit of computer-based environment.
