Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between intrinsic motivation and learning outcomes of nursing college students who took the Fundamentals of nursing as a problem-based learning method. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we identified the intrinsic motivations of 114 nursing students who completed problem-based learning using the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory. The t-test was conducted to identify differences according to intrinsic motivation, and correlation analysis was performed to confirm the relationship between intrinsic motivation and learning outcomes. Results: The group with higher intrinsic motivation showed higher scores in all domains of self-assessed learning outcomes than the lower group. It was the 'Relatedness with an instructor' that showed the highest correlation with the learning outcomes in the domains of intrinsic motivation. Conclusion: Problem-based learning is an effective learning method for cultivating the competencies needed for nurses. The intrinsic motivation of students is an important factor in the performance of problem-based learning. For the efficiency of problem-based learning, efforts should be made to develop and apply autonomy-supportive interventions that can enhance intrinsic motivation.

Significant positive correlation among intrinsic motivation, e-learning strategies, and learning satisfaction. The regression model explained 41.4% of learning satisfaction. Both intrinsic motivation and e-learning strategies were significant predictor of learning satisfaction. Conclusion: In order to improve the learners' learning achievement and learning satisfaction in blended e-learning environment, intrinsic motivation should be strengthen and e-learning strategies should be developed.
The purpose of this study is to check mediating effect of middle school students' peer attachment on relation between self-esteem and intrinsic learning motivation. To this end, this study collected data by measuring the level of self-esteem, peer attachment, and intrinsic learning motivation for 457 male and female middle school students (225 male and 232 female students) located in S city, Jeollanam-do. The results of this study are as follows: The correlation between self-esteem, peer attachment and intrinsic learning motivation of middle school students was all significant. Self-esteem had a significant effect on peer attachment and intrinsic learning motivation, and peer attachment also had a significant effect on intrinsic learning motivation. Meanwhile, Peer attachment showed a partial mediating effect between self-esteem and intrinsic learning motivation. The mediating effect of peer attachment was different according to grade. Through this study, it was confirmed that the self-esteem of middle school students influences peer attachment, and that peer attachment influenced by self-esteem can influence intrinsic learning motivation. The implications and limitations of this study were also discussed.
There are many studies that intrinsic learning motivation and social support play an important role in the study of children and adolescents. However, studies examining the effects of intrinsic learning motivation and social support by measuring the actual academic performance of elementary school students are rare. This study attempted to verify the effect of intrinsic learning motivation on Korean language performance and moderating effect of social support in 5th and 6th graders in elementary school. 122 elementary school students in local county-level areas participated in this study. The Korean language test was conducted about 5 months after intrinsic learning motivation and social support of families and teachers were measured. The results revealed that Korean language performance showed a significant positive correlation with intrinsic learning motivation and social support, and also showed a significant correlation between learning motivation and social support. In the regression analysis with control variables, it was found that intrinsic learning motivation had a significant effect on Korean language performance. The moderating effect of social support was analyzed by dividing it into family support and teacher support. The interaction effect of learning motivation and social support was significant only in teacher support, not in family support. In specific, when teacher support was high, Korean language performance was high regardless of the student's learning motivation level, but when teacher support was low, the student's learning motivation mattered in the performance. Based on the results of this study, implications and limitations were discussed.
This study examines how caregivers' academic motivation to participate in training affects their learning flow with their training. This study surveyed 230 trainees at a caregiver training agency in City B. A survey was conducted, and questionnaire was conceived to obtain the measure of two latent variables: learning flow, motivation to learning. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used. Intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation had positive effects on learning flow. However Intrinsic motivation had high level of correlation than extrinsic motivation on learning flow. Therefore, learning flow had not alone intrinsic motivation but also partial correlation with extrinsic motivation. The multidirectional study is require the caregivers' training for development, caregivers' training and Management.
The aim of this study is twofold. First, this study aimed to explore how Korean university students' English learning motivation is related to their English listening proficiency and study time. Second, it attempted to interpret the English learning motivation linking the two different motivation theories: self-determination theory and L2 motivational self system. The constructs of the students' L2 learning motivation were investigated with the data obtained through the questionnaire from 122 sophomore students. A factor analysis was conducted to extract the major factors of motivation. As a result, 6 factors were extracted: Intrinsic Pleasure, Identified Value Regulation, Intrinsic Accomplishment, Introjected Regulation, External Regulation, and Identified Regulation. The Interrelatedness among the assessment results on the L2 listening proficiency (pre and post test), listening study time, and motivation factors was measured by correlation coefficients. The statistical results indicated that pre-test scores were significantly related to Identified Regulation and Identified Value Regulation toward English learning, and post-test results had significant correlation with Intrinsic Accomplishment and Identified Regulation. However, no motivation subtypes showed statistical association with the students' listening study time. The results were attempted to be interpreted both under L2 motivational self system and self-determination framework to better illuminate the motivation theory with more explanatory power.

Investigating the relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and their effects on affective mathematics engagement in a cultural context is critical for determining which types of motivation promote affective mathematics engagement and the relationship with cultural affordance. The investigation in the current study is comprised of two dependent studies. The results from Phase 1 indicate that attitude and emotion are better explained by extrinsic motivation, while self-acknowledgment and value are better explained by intrinsic motivation. The results of Phase 2 indicate that the Korean sample has greater extrinsic motivation, attitude, and emotion, while the U.S. sample has greater intrinsic motivation, self-acknowledgment, and value. The key outcome for this research is that disentangling cultural affordance from the emotional and cognitive structures is impossible.
The study attempts to propose and test a causal research model using SEM (Structural Equation Model) to determine whether there is a relationship between six sigma champion's transformational leadership and belts' creativity based on the mediated effects of intrinsic motivation and project's learning and growth. The subjects of the study composed of 134 belts from manufacturing and service firms implemented six sigma. Empirical results show that transformational leadership is positively related to intrinsic motivation and project learning and growth. In addition, intrinsic motivation and project learning and growth are positively related to creativity. The results of the study imply that creativity of six sigma belts would be enhanced by implementation of six sigma projects and utilizing six sigma tools and methods.
Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of a teacher professional learning environment at workplace day care centers on the professionalism of beginning teachers and also to verify the mediating effects of the beginning teachers'work task motivation on that relationship. Methods: The participants were 129 new teachers currently employed at workplace day care centers. The Current Status for Professional Competence was used to measure the teachers' professionalism. The Professional Learning Environment Inventory assesses the professional learning environment of day care centers. To measure the work task motivation, the Work Tasks Motivation Scale for Teachers was used. Results: Firstly, positive relationships were identified between a professional learning environment and their intrinsic motivation and identified motivation. However, there were also negative relationships between the professional learning environment and their introjected motivation and amotivation. Secondly, this study partially verified the mediating effects of the beginning teachers'work task motivation on the relationship between the professional learning environment and teachers' professionalism. Conclusion/Implications: The relationship between the professional learning environment and the professionalism of beginning teachers was mediated by the teachers'own intrinsic motivations, identified motivations, and amotivation.
The purpose of this study is to investigate motivation to learn physics in order to understand engineering college students' physics learning. Therefore, in this study, 374 engineering students at the university located in Seoul were studied using the Physics Motivation Questionnaire (PMQ), which was a Science Motivation Questionnaire II modified into the context of learning physics. The PMQ is composed of five factors: intrinsic motivation, career motivation, self-determination, self-efficacy, and grade motivation. It involves 25 Likert scale items. Through exploratory factor analysis, PMQ confirms that the five factors are structurally valid in measuring the motivation of engineering students to learn physics. In addition, item fit (MNSQ) was also confirmed using a Rasch model analysis. The results show that grade motivation has the highest mean with 4.2, followed by job motivation mean with 3.76. The mean of intrinsic motivation was 3.42, the self-efficacy was 3.38, and self-determination was 3.32. The results of this study confirm that the physics learning motivation of engineering college students is characterized showing high external motivation related to job and grade. Therefore, we should try to develop the teaching strategy to increase intrinsic motivation by developing mastery goal orientation of physics learning for engineering students.
