The popularity of courier services in Korea has made it an essential part of the country's domestic logistics industry, bolstering the growth not only of the national economy, but also the quality of people's daily lives. An effective strategy for courier companies in Korea would be to provide high-quality services to their existing target markets with the goal of maximizing customer loyalty. This study investigates structural relationships between customer loyalty and service quality as a set of factors and between customer trust and customer satisfaction. These antecedent relationships will be used to understand the "performance formation model" through service quality. In this study, service quality, as a set of factors, is considered to be the independent variable, while customer satisfaction and customer trust are both treated as intervening variables. Finally, customer loyalty is the dependent variable. Following a review of the literature, this paper's proffered hypothesis will be investigated in terms of whether the independent and intervening variables significantly affect customer loyalty. A statistical analysis of the empirical research was carried out using both SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 The results of this study's empirical analysis show three conclusions. First, among the intervening variables (customer satisfaction and customer trust), customer satisfaction is significantly correlated with customer loyalty. Customer trust, however, was shown to have little or no relationship to customer loyalty. Second, the quality of service variable seems to influence customer satisfaction, customer trust, and customer loyalty. Third, with respect to the relationship of intervening variables, customer trust affects customer satisfaction. Thus, the companies that have a competitive advantage in Korea have successfully maximized customer loyalty for their existing customers. Courier companies will need to research and study customer needs. Therefore, this research suggests that effective courier service management can be better understood through the application of the service quality performance formation model, which can enhance the quality of service provided by domestic courier services. This research is limited to investigating qualitative variables, such as the service quality factors, customer satisfaction, and customer trust. It would be helpful for future research on courier services to consider quantitative variables, such as price and weight.

This study is conducted to examine elderly consumers' information needs according to information sources. And the relation with related variables purchasing problems of the elderly consumers and their needs according to information sources is investigated. The data was collected from 782 elderly consumers ages range from 55 to 74 and major findings are as follows: (1) Their needs according to information sources are relatively high and followed by neutral information source department store personnels and advertisements (2) The more esperiences they have and the more seriously they perceive their purchasing problems in a relatively poor conditon of a market the more information they want from department store personnels. (3) How many experiences they have and how much they perceive seriously in purchasing problems are the major intervening variables which have strong positve effects on the needs. The experiences show the strongest effects on the needs. The level of the percept on is strongly related to the needs and neutral information source is the major effect among the information sources.

This study verified the structural relations among empowering leadership, self-efficacy and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in social welfare organizations. To this end, the study chose self-efficacy as an intervening variable and OCB as a dependent variable by considering the characteristics of social welfare organizations and their works. The study found that empowering leadership has a significantly positive impact on self-efficacy while both self-efficacy and empowering leadership have a significantly positive impact on OCB. Self-efficacy has meditating effects on the relationship between empowering leadership and OCB. Based on these results, the study suggests policy implications for the improvement of social workers' self- efficacy and OCB through empowering leadership in social welfare centers.

In this paper, a three elastic body sliding contact problem is modeled to investigate more precise wear mechanisms related with the sealing surface. A 3-D finite element contact model, a small spherical elastic particle, PTFE seal and steel surface, is solved using a nonlinear finite element code MARC. The deformed seal and steel surface shapes, von-Mises and principal stress distributions are obtained for different seal sliding distances. The entrapped small particle within PTFE seal results in very high stresses on the steel surface which exceeded its yield strength and produce plastic deformation such as groove and torus. The sealing surface could also be worn down by sub-surface fatigue due to intervening small particles together with the well-known abrasive wear. Therefore the proposed contact model adopted in this paper can be applied in design of various sealing systems, and further studies are required.

With the rapid progress of RFID security technologies, the international standard group ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31 is developing a few security technologies for RFID systems. One of the initial proposals is ISO/IEC working draft (WD) 29167-6. Recently, Song and others stated that Protocol 1 of ISO/IEC WD 29167-6 is vulnerable to a malicious adversary. However, their analysis comes from a misunderstanding regarding a communication parameter called Handle. In this letter, we point out that an adversary cannot obtain any sensitive information from intervening in Protocol 1.

Purpose: This study was done to explore the experiences of ego identity development in Korean nursing students. Methods: Data were collected from 16 nursing students through in-depth interviews. The main question was, "Could you tell me your experience of developing an ego identity?" Data were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory methodology. Results: The core category of the experiences of ego identity development in Korean nursing students was 'trying to be a different new person'. Action/interaction strategies were 'solving the problem using experiences', 'making one's own success story', and 'making harmony with others'. Consequences were 'being sure of oneself as a new person'. Conclusion: Korean nursing students tried to use their experiences, achieve success, and harmonize with others. Their efforts were influenced by conflicts and supports of people around. Therefore, nurse educators should understand contextual and intervening conditions of nursing students, and try to help them achieve ego identities.

Most software projects inevitably involve various types and degrees of uncertainty. Without proper risk assessment and coordination, software projects can easily run out of control and consume significant additional resource. Thus, risk management techniques are critical issues to information system researchers. Previous empirical studies of U.S. software firms support the adoption of development standardization and user requirement analysis techniques in risk-based software project management. Using data collected from software projects developed in Korea during 1999-2000, we conduct a comparative study to determine how risk management strategies impact software product and process performance in countries with dissimilar IT capabilities. In addition, we offer an alternative conceptualization of residual performance risk. We show that the use of residual performance risk as an intervening variable is inappropriate in IT developing countries like Korea where the role of late stage risk control remedies are critical. A revised model is proposed that generates more reliable empirical implications for Korean software projects.

This research investigates relationships between a company's corporate image and consumer attitudes toward brands in the company. It also examines the fit between a company and its individual products and consumer-company identification as intervening variables between the relationships. Data for this research were collected from 347 undergraduate students through a survey. They were asked to provide their perceptions on two brands for each of 8 large Korean companies. The results indicate that corporate image directly influences brand trust, whereas it does not affect brand trust indirectly, through company-product fit. Also, the results indicate that corporate image does not directly influence brand affect, whereas it does influence brand affect indirectly, through consumer-company identification.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among selected socioeconomic variables(age, household income, education duration; perceived income adequacy, gap between living standards and level), financial management and financial satisfaction. The sample size is 298 interviewee, and the unit of analysis is household in Seoul. Results of the study indicate that perceived income adequacy is significantly related to financial management. And perceived income adequacy, household income, gap between living standards and level, and age are significantly related to financial satisfaction. Although perceived income has an indirect effect on financial through financial management, but indirect effect is too small, financial management is not examined as intervening variable.

The tendinous ends of neglected achilles tendon rupture tend to retract and separate with atrophy due to gastrosoleus muscle contracture, leaving a wide gap occupied with fibroadipose scar tissue. It is almost impossible to perform simple end-to-end anastomosis after the intervening scar tissue being excised. Therefore many surgical procedures have been proposed to reconstruct the large gap. We treated three such cases by V-Y advancement flap and double Krackow suture technique, and their postoperative strength of triceps surae were evaluated with Cybex isokinetic strength testing. All patients returned to preinjury activities with satisfaction, but the ankle plantar flexor power showed about 20-30% deficit.
