  • 본 논문에서는 가상화 기술을 지원하는 ARMv7 Cortex-A15 프로세서가 탑재된 임베디드 보드를 위한 실시간 운영체제(RTOS) 구현을 위한 방법을 제안한다. ARM Cortex-A15 프로세서가 지원하는 Generic Interrupt Controller와 Generic Timer에 대해 알아보고, 가상화 시스템에서 인터럽트 오버헤드를 줄이는 GICv2와 가상 타이머인 Generic Timer를 사용하여 실시간 운영체제인 FreeRTOS를 임베디드 보드에 이식하였다.

A Microcontroller-Based Lock-In Amplifier for Capacitive Sensors (용량형 센서를 위한 마이크로컨트롤러에 기반을 둔 록인 증폭기)

  • A lock-in amplifier was proposed for capacitive sensor applications. This amplifier was based on a general-purpose microcontroller and had only a charge amplifier as analog circuits. All the other functions of lock-in amplifier except for the charge amplifier were implemented with firmware and the internal resources of the microcontroller. A rectangular signal, generated by the microcontroller, was used in a sensor-driving signal instead of a conventional sinusoidal signal. This makes it possible that the phase comparison circuit in the lockin amplifier is made with analog-to-digital converter, a timer and an interrupt controller. Using the oversampling method and the rectangular driving signal, we can make it easy to implement the peak detection function with software and sample the peak-to-peak signal at charge amplifier output. A charge amplifier was proposed to cancel out the base capacitance existing in capacitive sensors structurally. The experimental results show that the lock-in amplifier operating in the supply voltage of 3.0 V cancels out the base capacitance and has good linearity.

  • In this paper, arc current control algorithm is designed for the interruption of arc fault current which is occurred in the low voltage and low current network. Arc in electrical network have the characteristics of low current, high impedance and high frequency. Conventional controller does not have the arc current interrupt function. Hence, In this paper, arc current control algorithm is designed for the interruption of arc fault current.

  • This paper describes the design and FPGA implementation of a system control unit within a multiprocessor chip which can be used as a node processor ina massively parallel processing (MPP) caches, memory management units, a bus unit and a system control unit. Major functions of the system control unit are locking/unlocking of the shared variables of protected access, synchronization of instruction execution among four integer untis, control of interrupts, generation control of processor's status, etc. The system control unit was modeled in very high level using verilog HDL. Then, it was simulated and verified in an environment where trap handler and external interrupt controller were added. Functional blocks of the system control unit were changed into RTL(register transfer level) model and synthesized using xilinx FPGA cell library in synopsys tool. The synthesized system control unit was implemented by Xilinx FPGA chip (XC4025EPG299) after timing verification.

  • 서보 전동기는 탑재된 소프트웨어의 명령에 따라 제어되는 전동기로 다양한 임베디드 응용 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 여러 분야에서 사용되고 있는 만큼 각 응용 분야마다 시간, 부하에 따라 서보 전동기에 요구되는 응답성은 다양하다. 응답성에 민감한 서보 전동기의 소프트웨어를 효율적으로 구현하기 위해서는 다양한 요구사항에 대한 분석이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 시간 응답성이 요구되는 서보 전동기의 실제 임베디드 시스템을 위한 인터럽트 측정 소프트웨어를 구현하고, 이에 대한 결과를 제시한다.

  • In this paper, we propose a Micro Real-Time Control System (MRTCS) for decreasing the delay during interrupts processing and data transfer on sensor nodes. The MRTCS consists of a control, sensor nodes based on Controller Area Network (CAN) device. The control node was designed with Real Time Operating System (RTOS) on top of the small Micro Control Unit (sMCU). Sensor nodes have the CAN device without sMCU, which have multiple Digital Inputs, Outputs (DI/DO) and the CAN controller. We have evaluated with OCTAVE v3.6.4 from open source for system performance. Simulation results show that the system performance was increased through the delay reducing for interrupt processing and internal data transfer. We verify that a proposed MRTCS approach will be adapted to various real-time control system.

  • This paper implements an integrated vehicle chassis system of ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control) and LKS(Lane Keeping System) based on OSEK OS to vehicle operating system and analyzes its performance through experiments. In recent years active safety and advanced driver assistance system has discussed to improve safety of vehicle. Among the rest, We integrate ACC that controls longitudinal velocity of vehicle and LKS that assists a vehicle in maintaing its driving lane, then implement integrated control system in vehicle. Implemented control system uses OSEK/VDX proposed standard, which is aiming at reusability and safety of software for vehicle and removal hardware dependence of application software. Redesigned control system based on OSEK OS, which is supported by OSEK/VDX, can manage real-time task, process interrupt and manage shared resource. We show by results performed EILS(ECU-In-the-Loop Simulation) that OSEK OS-based integrated controller of ACC and LKS is equivalent conventional integrated controller of ACC and LKS.

FPGA Implementation of VME System Controller (VME 시스템 제어기의 FPGA 구현)

  • For FA (factory automation) and ATE (automatic test equipment) in the industrial area, the standard bus needs to increase the system performance of multiprocessor environment. VME(versa module european package format) bus is appropriated to the standard bus but has features of small package and low board density. Beside, the density of board and semiconductor have grown to become significant issues that affect development time, project cost and field diagnostics. To fit this trend, in this paper, we composed Revision C.1 (IEEE std. P1014-1987) of the integrated environment for the main function such as arbitration, interrupt and interface between, VMEbus and several control modules Also the designed, VME system controller is implemented on FPGA that can be located even into slot 1. The control and function modules are coded with VHDL mid-fixed description method and then those operations are verified by simulation. As a result of experiment, we confirmed the most important that is the operation of Bus timer about Bus error signal should occur within $56{\mu}m$, and both control and function modules have the reciprocal operation correctly. Thus, the constructed VHDL library will be able to apply the system based VMEbus and ASIC design.

Design and Evaluation of the Internet-Of-Small-Things Prototype Powered by a Solar Panel Integrated with a Supercapacitor

  • In this paper, we propose a prototype platform combined with the power management system using, as an auxiliary power storage device, a supercapacitor that can be fast charged and discharged with high power efficiency as well as semi-permanent charge and discharge cycle life. For the proposed platform, we designed a technique which is capable of detecting the state of power cutoff or resumption of power supplied from the solar panel in accordance with physical environment changes through an interrupt attached to the micro-controller was developed. To prevent data loss in a computing environment in which continuous power supply is not guaranteed, we implemented a low-level system software in the micro-controller to transfer program context and data in volatile memory to nonvolatile memory when power supply is cut off. Experimental results shows that supercapacitors effectively supply temporary power as auxiliary power storage devices. Various benchmarks also confirm that power state detection and transfer of program context and data from volatile memory to nonvolatile memory have low overhead.

  • Due to the development of the digital technology, the digital broadcasting is changing to a multi-entertainment platform that can operate data (broadcasting) services (such as games, weather information, and stock trading services) as well as traditional broadcasting contents. Most of the data services, however, failed to get satisfactory results because of the inconvenience in operating the services using a TV remote controller and the failure of gaining the viewer's interests in the competition with the broadcasting contents. The paper introduces a survey on the viewer's modality of using a data service and, based on the survey result, proposes a design guideline that makes a data service minimally interrupt a viewer watching a broadcasting content.
