  • This paper designed and implemented(programmed) a comparative shopping agent that helps consumers to shop at on-line shopping malls over Internet. At offline stores, as consumers usually tell a sales clerk about a manufacturer, functions and price range of an item they want to purchase, the sales clerk will show the products or relevant catalogues. Then the consumer will compare functions, design and prices of the product and buy it with the lowest price. PriceMeter, a comparative shopping agent, introduced in this paper, is designed best geared to this consumers' buying behavior. Basically, as consumers enter a manufacturer's name, price, features and etc. at a search window, PriceMeter will search the web and provide a list of product informations such as features and prices that meet the search conditions. Consumers can see the information in either a form of catalogue or a printing format. As consumers click specific items to examine closely, it will show prices and information about shopping malls that sell the requested items. Clicking a 'Buy' icon, the consumers will be transferred to the right web page at the linked shopping mall. The emergence of the comparative shopping agent will expedite a consumer-centered retailing economy in the age of e-commerce. As consumers are provided with a better set of product and shopping mall information, they can make better purchasing decisions and gain more bargaining power shifted from manufacturers(sellers). The presentation of this comparative shopping agent is intended to promote the consumer-centered B2C e-commerce.

  • In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an effective video advertising method for on-line shopping malls. For the Internet advertising, we make a mouse with a small OLED display that can communicate with PC's Internet network. Without displaying the teasing Pop-ups on the PC's monitor, the advertising for a shopping mall is directly sent to the OLED display on the mouse. Also, the proposed method has merits of sending the advertising based on customer's preference by using IP multicasting, which the customer can select an advertising category in advance. When the customer want to buy an item on the OLED display, the detail advertising can be immediately accessed through a Web browser on PC's monitor by pushing a special button on the mouse.

  • With the advancement of information and communication technology, the market of Internet-based fashion/coordination shopping malls have been considerably increasing year by year. As the number of these Internet shopping malls increases, the operators of the malls tend to decorate the first page of their websites with a variety of events and samples of the best-fit upper-lower clothing pairs. They try to provide visitors of their web sites with products that can induce fresh impression by modifying the first page on a daily or a few days basis. If pairs of best-fit upper-lower clothes for various products available in online shopping malls can be calculated and marked, it would help not only to make the first page of the malls more appealing but also to enable users to purchase linked products in a more convenient way, replacing the recommendations usually made by offline clerks. In the paper, we present the results of designing and implementing an upper-lower clothes matching system in which expert coordinators register matching-value of upper and lower clothes in the form of attribute-value matrix.

  • The development of the Internet of Things led to new services that did not exist before. This required a change to the existing network. This study aims to verify the service quality, satisfaction, repurchase intention relationship, and the moderating effect of online reviews of Chinese consumers using fashion shopping malls. The results of the study showed that from the perspective of consumers in their 20s and 30s in China, the type, reliability, convenience, and interaction of service quality had a positive effect on customer satisfaction and repurchase intention. In addition, negative reviews among online reviews had a great influence on repurchase intention. • Consumer researchers found that compulsive buying was a part of a category of compulsive consumption that was interrelated to addictive and repetitive behaviors. The present study empirically examined the co-morbidity of compulsive buying and Internet addiction among e-commerce users in terms of consumption disorders. Although the prevalence of Internet use and on-line sales remarkably increase in recent years, almost no study examines on-line compulsive buying behavior. This study explored the link between compulsive buying and Internet addiction among e-commerce users, and investigated the characteristics of on-line shoppers with respect to two forms of compulsive consumption, which were divided into compulsive buying and Internet addiction. Additionally, factors that related to compulsive buying behaviors among e-commerce users were also examined. The present research was conducted using a convenience sample of 394 young adults between the ages of 20-30, and the Faber and O'Guinn's DSCB scale and the Widyanto's Internet addiction scale (IA) were used. Confirmatory factor analyses were utilized to evaluate the structure of the DSCB and IA, and a Probit model was used to examine determinants for the compulsive buying behaviors of e-commerce users. E-commerce users were classified into four groups; high compulsion and high addiction, low compulsion and low addiction, high compulsion and low addiction, and low compulsion and high addiction. Consumers with high compulsion and high addiction spent higher amounts of money on their on-line purchases and were frequently connected with the Internet compared to the three other consumer groups. Consumers with compulsive buying behaviors were also found to have significantly greater Internet addiction tendencies than typical buyers. Compulsive buyers were more likely to engage in Internet addiction and the number of purchasing via on-line shopping mall, and had higher materialism. Policy implications and suggestions for consumer education programs were discussed.

  • Electronic Commerce is rapidly expanding with the development of internet and will be very useful for the consumers in the future. However, we could not find many studies on consumers' attitudes and behaviors in the cybermarket. The purpose of this study is to analyze perceptions of college students in Seoul and Chunchon on Electronic Commerce. The main findings are as follows. First, they prefer surfing on the net with search engines like Simmamai or Yahoo to directly looking over the homepages of department stores and advertisement sites. Students in Chunchon, especially, tend to check out banners at E-mail sites. Second, most of the students get information about shopping mall sites and products from their friends, newspapers or magazines. And they want to have information (advertisements) classified by brand names of the products. Third, students in Seoul rely on brand names more than those in Chunchon do. Students in Chunchon, compared with those in Seoul, believe more kinds of products are available in the internet shopping mall. They complain, however, deficiencies of information about the products and high prices. They want the price information compared with those in traditional markets. Fourth, they feel very uncomfortable about informing their credit card numbers, and thus prefer payments with Electronic Money. And finally, they are not satisfied with return and exchange policies and after-sale services. They also complain that the products are not delivered safely when they are not home. They want the delivery-date indicated.
