Objectives: This study was aimed to analyze the correlation of clinical characteristics of cancer patients treated with Korean Medicine and their natural killer cell activity (NKA). Methods: The medical records of 52 cancer patients who conducted NKA test at Cheonan Korean Medicine Hospital of Daejeon University from March 2016 to May 2018 were reviewed. NKA was determined at Seegene Medical institute using NK Vue Gold(R) kit, evaluating activated $IFN-{\gamma}$ by enzyme immunoassay after incubation of whole blood. Careful investigations were conducted by categorizing the patients by their sex, origin, stage, ECOG scale, and conventional treatment type. We used data from the medical records and statistical analysis using SPSS 25.0 V. Results: The average NKA of all patients was $623.1{\pm}722.0pg/mL$. The NKA value was higher for females than for males. No correlation was evident between age and NKA, but patients aged over 70 years had the lowest NKA average result. Stage III and IV patients showed clearly lower NKA values when compared to stage I and II patients. NKA and ECOG scale values showed no evident relationship. Conclusions: This study presented the characteristics of NKA in cancer patients treated with Korean medicine. The NKA result differed by gender and stage. Based on these findings, further study is needed regarding the clinical meaning of NKA.

Objectives: There have been many studies reporting the clinical value of Euphorbia kansui Radix or Melonis Calyx, but few systematic studies of the changes that may occur after taking such herbal medication. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of the patient group, possible changes in blood test and InBody test results, and to discover the current state and future direction of clinical use of Euphorbia kansui Radix or Melonis Calyx. Methods: This study investigated patients who were hospitalized at Kyung-Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital for at least two days from 1 March 2016 to 1 March 2019, specifically evaluating patients aged 19 and over who underwent blood tests, including an electrolyte test and an InBody test before and after taking Euphorbia kansui Radix or Melonis Calyx. Results: Among a total of 134 patients, 72 patients (53.7%) were treated with Euphorbia kansui Radix and 62 patients (46.3%) were treated with Melonis Calyx, in the context of previously diagnosed abnormal weight gain. Laboratory findings were that Na and K levels were significantly reduced in both groups. In an InBody test, body mass index (BMI), intracellular water, extracellular water, protein, mineral, and skeletal muscle were significantly reduced in both groups. Conclusions: From these results, we suggest that, although Euphorbia kansui Radix and Melonis Calyx may not induce serious adverse effects, attention should be paid to the electrolyte level with the use of these treatments. In terms of syndrome differentiation, more clinical uses will be available in the future.

Liver cirrhosis is a liverdisease in which the normal microcirculation, the gross vascular anatomy, and the hepatic architecture have been variably destroyed and altered with fibrous septa surrounding regenerated or regenerating parenchymal nodules. Liver cirrhosis is regarded as a serious health problem with high prevalence in the world as well as in Korea. Liver cirrhosis is an irreversible disease. However, in cases of liver cirrhosis induced by chronic hepatitis B, we should treat the chronic hepatitis B, because it frequently progresses to cirrhosis and hepatoma. We observedimprovements of symptoms and laboratory tests with herb medicine Injinchunggan-tang (茵蔯淸肝湯) in five cases ofliver cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis B. The serum aminotransferase was preserved within normal value levels for a long time, 3 years to 7 years. However, further study is necessary to determine the effect of herb medicine on liver cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis B.

Background/Aims: The diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis (ITB) is often challenging. Therapeutic anti-tubercular trial (TATT) is sometimes used for the diagnosis of ITB. We aimed to evaluate the changing pattern of fecal calprotectin (FC) levels during TATT in patients with ITB. Methods: A retrospective review was performed on the data of 39 patients who underwent TATT between September 2015 and November 2018 in five university hospitals in Daegu, South Korea. The analysis was performed for 33 patients with serial FC measurement reports. Results: The mean age of the participants was 48.8 years. The final diagnosis of ITB was confirmed in 30 patients based on complete mucosal healing on follow-up colonoscopy performed after 2 months of TATT. Before starting TATT, the mean FC level of the ITB patients was 170.2 ㎍/g (range, 11.5-646.5). It dropped to 25.4 ㎍/g (range, 11.5-75.3) and then 23.3 ㎍/g (range, 11.5-172.2) after one and two months of TATT, respectively. The difference in mean FC before and one month after TATT was statistically significant (p<0.001), and FC levels decreased to below 100 ㎍/g in all patients after one month of TATT. Conclusions: All ITB patients showed FC decline after only 1 month of TATT, and this finding correlated with complete mucosal healing in the follow-up colonoscopy after 2 months of TATT.

Patient-specific image-based internal dosimetry involves using the patient's individual anatomy and spatial distribution of radioactivity over time to obtain an absorbed dose calculation. Individual absorbed dose was calculated by accumulated activity multiply S-value of each organs. The aim of this study was to calculate the S-values using Monte Carlo simulation in monkey and mouse and evaluation of absorbed dose in each organ. Self-irradiation S-value of monkey heart self-irradiation was 3.15E-03 mGy-g/MBq-s, lung self-irradiation was 8.94E-04 mGy-g/MBq-s and liver self-irradiation S-value was 2.23E-03 mGy-g/MBq-s. Mouse heart self-irradiation S-value was 1.95E-01 mGy-g/MBq-s, lung was 9.59E-02 mGy-g/MBq-s, and liver was 1.40E-03 mGy-g/MBq-s. The results of this study show that the calculation protocol of image based individual absorbed dose of each organ using Monte Carlo simulation. Therefore, this study may be applied to calculate human specific absorbed dose.

본 연구는 지금까지의 서사 양식에 등장했던 캐릭터의 성격 유형론을 정리하여, 기존의 캐릭터의 성격 유형론이 갖고 있는 문제점을 정리하고 새로운 분류 가능성을 제안하기 위한 것이다. 지금까지 서사 이론에서 캐릭터 유형의 분류는 크게 서사 내에서의 역할이라는 형식적인 분류와 인간의 내적 자질에 근거한 내용적인 분류, 그리고 그 두 가지 분류 기준이 착종된 보완적 분류로 이루어져 있었다. 기존 캐릭터 분류 유형이 담고 있는 문제는 바로 인간의 내적 자질에 근거한 내용적인 분류의 유용성에 비해 실질적으로 분류가 어렵다는 점이다. 반면 서사 내 등장인물의 역할에 따른 분류는 그 분류가 형식적이기 때문에 서사론의 발전상 중요하게 다뤄져 왔지만, 그다지 실질적인 분석 방법론으로 기능하기는 어려웠다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 시론적인 성격으로, 샬롬 슈워츠의 인간의 가치 유형을 도입하여, 인간의 가치 유형과 인간의 역할을 상호 관련시켜 새로운 캐릭터 분석 방법의 가능성을 제안하고자 한다. 슈워츠의 가치 유형 연구는 인간의 행동의 동기를 파악하는 데 매우 효과적인 방법론으로, 등장인물의 지향성을 분석하는 데 큰 의미가 있을 것이다.

Low-value fish is the most commonly used feed in Asian fish farms despite the fact that its application is controversial in regard to the sustainability and biosecurity of aquaculture. In this study, the causal agent of a disease outbreak at a Korean rockfish Sebastes schlegeli farm was investigated to determine whether the low-value fish used at the farm was the source. Infected Korean rockfish and Pacific sand eel used as feed were sampled from the farm, and bacterial cultures recovered from the internal organs of all sampled rockfish were isolated as pure cultures and later identified as Vibrio harveyi. The causal agent of the disease was also isolated from the kidneys of some of the sampled Pacific sand eels. This study provides additional evidence that the low-value fish used as feed at fish farms can be a key source of infectious diseases.

The present study aimed to survey doctors working in five university hospitals about internal customer satisfaction and organization commitment level in order to identify casual relationships through structure equations. According to the analysis, organization management had the biggest impact on internal customer satisfaction level, and the sooner the factor was named personnel, leadership, job, and compensation, the bigger the impact it had on the level. The research model was generally found to be good in terms of goodness of fit, considering the value of $x^2$ calculated as 103.314, the degrees of freedom of 38, GFI 0.924, AGFT 0.868, NFI 0.888, CFI 0.925, and RMSEA 0.086. In conclusion, the internal customer satisfaction level of doctors was significantly proportionate to organization commitment by means of their general satisfaction level, while also being directly proportionate to organization commitment (p<0.05). Meanwhile, statistical significance could not be found when measuring the effects of the doctors' basic characteristics on the levels of internal customer satisfaction and general satisfaction in hospitals.

This study analyzed the effects of specific factors on the fluorescence index of the fluorescent whitening agent (FWA) that is used for internal addition. The specific factors were identified by the literature review, and a statistical survey was carried out to analyze the effects of those factors on the fluorescence index. Bulk, grammage, fillers and internal sizing agents were selected as the specific factors. The paper samples were prepared with internal FWA in a laboratory. The fluorescence indices of the model papers were measured, and p-values of the specific factors on the fluorescence index were calculated by the SPSS program. Most of p-values were greater than 0.05, so the specific factors do not have a significant impact on the internal FWA fluorescence index.

It is investigated that internal defect of planetary gear which consists of two gears with different number of teeth on both side. The internal defect, central burst, begin to form at the place of adiabatic shear band which usually has maximum ductile fracture value during the forming operation, forward and backward extrusion. It makes the plastic forming of planetary gear difficult. The prediction of defect to minimize the cost to produce the planetary gear. The finite element simulation code DEFORM is applied to analyze the defects. In the analysis, the toothed gears are assumed as axisymmetric cylinders whose diameters are equal to those of pitch circles of the each gears. Experiments were carried out with the SCM415 alloy steel as billet material and AIDA 630-ton knuckle-joint press. The calculated results and experimental inspections are compared to design a die and blank without defects and the results are useful to predict the internal defect.
