The detection rate of the parasites from rabbits was 51.6%. A seasonal infection rates of internal parasites was 55.6% in the Summer and 46.1% in the Winter. The infection rates of single, double and triple were 36.7%(184 heads}, 7.2%(36 heads), and 0.8%(4 heads), respectively. Parasites were identified as Eimeria spp from 196 heads, Passalurs spp from 25 heads, Strongylus spp from 16 heads, Trichostrongylus spp form 15 heads, and Grapidium spp from 7 heads, in order.

  • A survey on the prevalence of internal parasites in the laboratory rats in the Chonnam and Kyunggi areas was carried out. A total of 208 rats was selected for necropsy and the parasites were collected from the organs and the fecal samples. The infection rate of the internal parasites was high as 63.9% and eight species of parasites were identified. Among the species identified A tetraptera(21.6%) and H diminuta(20.7%) appeared with relatively higher infection rates than any other species identified. A significant difference in numbers of parasites was recognized between the regions as 8 species in Chonnam and 4 species in Kyunggi. The laboratory rats reared in stainless steel cage showed the higher infection rate than those in polycarbonate cage, with some exception in H spumosa and H nana. In this survey T crassicauda was firstly in the laboratory rats in Korea.

A total of eight hundred and twenty five heads of Holstein cattle was randomly selected for the faecal examinations and the internal parasitisms were examined by floatation method using saturated salt solution and sedimentation method using 0.5% trio-soap solution. The relults obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The overall rate of internal parasite infections was 67.2% with infection of 554 cases and the non-infected rate was 32.8% with 271 cases from the total number of 825 samples. 2. A total fourteen species of parasites was identified from 825 faecal samples of Holstein cattle and the infection rate of each species of parasites was 3.0% in Haemonchus contortus, 2.7% in Cooperia spp., 1.8% in Bunostomum phlebotomum, 1.6% in Oesophagostomum radiatum, 1.2% in Ostertagia ostertagi, 1.0% in Trichuris bovis, 0.8% in Strongyloides papillsus, 0.4% in Nematodirus spp., 0.1% in Trichostrongylus spp., 57.3% in Paramohistomum spp., 31.2% in Fasciola hepatica, 0.6% in Eurytrema pancreaticum, 0.7% in Moniezia expansa and 5.1% in Eimeria spp. 3. The combined infection of internal parasites was 38.1% in single species, 27.0% in double and 2.1% in triple infections. 4. The EPG levels of each species of parasites were very low in all infected cases except trematodes showing no clinical symptoms.

  • As a series of basic study for the prevention of zoonotic parasites, fecal samples and internal organs of cats in Iri and its vicinity were examined for helminth and their ova or protozoan oocysts from November 1994 to March 1995. The results obtained were summarized as follows; Out of the 133 samples, 101(75.9%) were positive and 135(101.5%) were cumulative positive for parasites. The following were identified in the samples and positive numbers of each species detected were ; Toxocura cari, 51;Isospora spp., 27;Spirometra erinacei, 26;Tasnka taentaeformis, 24;Diphyllobothrium latum, 4;and Capillaria spp., 3, respectively. In analyzing the state of infection, 64.9%(61 heads) of all the cats inspected had a single infection, while the rest(excluding the 32 uninfected cats) had mixed infections : 27.6%(26 heads), 6.4%(6 heads) and 1.1%(1 heads) had double, triple, quadruple Infections, respectively. From these results, it can be concluded that since the helminth, zoonotic parasites, in Korean autochthonal cats cause not only various disorders, but also can be very harmful to human beings, they are considered to be of great significance to public health.

  • To investigate the prevalence of swine internal parasitic infection, the fecal examinations were carried out between July. 1991. and June. 1992. The samples of 3, 126 swine feces and sawdust were collected from 6 sawdust fermentative and 6 cement-floored pigsties in Chonnam area. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The rate of swine internal parasitic infection, 38.5% from sawdust fermentative pigsty was higher than 22.2% from cement-floored pigsty. 2. Of the swine internal parasites detected, Balantidium cole, 21.4% from growing pig of sawdust fermentative pigsty, and 21.3% from sow of cement-floored pigsty was the must commonly encountered. The infection rate of another parasites including Trichuris suis in sawdust fermentative pigsty was also higher than cement-floored pigsty. 3. Larvae of Strongyloides ransomi was the highest infection rate (40.0%) at sawdust of the sawdust fermentative pigsty.

  • Research results on actual management situation of 16 goat farms and internal parasite infection of 155 goats from January to November in 1997 in southern Kyoungnam area were as follows ; 1. An average number of goats was 93. Among them, 81% were farming the goat as avocation with the income rate less then 50%, Eight-four percent of farms terminated the parasites more than twice a year, and the survey showed the black goats had a high digestive and respiratory disease infection rate. 2. The internal parasite infection rate of the black goat was 96.8% , the goats were infected with 13 types of parasites. Of them, Emeria sp was 87.1%, Ostertagia sp 55.5%, Paraphistanum sp 45.8%, and Moniezia expansa 20%, respectively. 3. On the survey of multiple infection rate, both double and triple infection were 19.4%, more than septuple-infection 15,5%, single infection 13.4%, quintuple infection 12.3 n, sextuple infection 9.0% and quadruple infection 7.7%, respectively. 4. Look over on seasonal infection rate, higher in fall and lower in winter. Especially, Paramishitom sp was higher in summer and winter, both Moniezia expansan and Bonaostom sp were higher in summer. 5. Research on the infection rate of parasites termination period revealed less-than-1-month period had 10-30 infection rate, the infection rate has increased sharply since 3 months passed after the goats were treated with parasite-cid.
