Preprocessing in large scale linear programming problems (대형선형계획문제의 사전처리)

  • Generally MPS, standardized by IBM, is the input type of large scale linear programming problems, and there may be unnecessary variables or constraints. These can be discarded by preprocessing. As the size of a problem is reduced by preprocessing, the running time is reduced. And more, the infeasibility of a problem may be detected before using solution methods. When the preprocessing implemented by this paper is used in NETLIB problems, it removes unnecessary variables and constraints by 21%, 15%, respectively. The use of preprocessing gives in the average 21% reduction in running time by applying the interior point method. Preprocessing can detect 10 out of 30 infeasible NETLIB problems.

A New Approach to Solve the Rate Control Problem in Wired-cum-Wireless Networks

  • In this paper, we propose a new optimization approach to the rate control problem in a wired-cum-wireless network. A primal-dual interior-point(PDIP) algorithm is used to find the solution of the rate optimization problem. We show a comparison between the dual-based(DB) algorithm and PDIP algorithm for solving the rate control problem in the wired-cum-wireless network. The PDIP algorithm performs much better than the DB algorithm. The PDIP can be considered as an attractive method to solve the rate control problem in network. We also present a numerical example and simulation to illustrate our conclusions.

  • In this paper, we consider the synthesis of mixed H$_{2}$/H$_{\infty}$ controllers such that the closed-loop poles are located in a specified region in the complex plane. Using solution to a generalized Riccati equation and a change of variable technique, it is shown that this synthesis problem can be reduced to a convex optimization problem over a bounded subset of matrices. This convex programming can be further reduced to Generalized Eigenvalue Minimization Problem where Interior Point method has been recently developed to efficiently solve this problem..

  • Mixed H$_{2}$/H$_{\infty}$ robust control synthesis is considered for finite dimensional linear time-invariant systems under the presence of diagonal structured uncertainties. Such uncertainties arise for instance when there is real perturbation in the nominal model of the state space system or when modeling multiple (unstructured) uncertainty at different locations in the feedback loop. This synthesis problem is reduced to convex optimization problem over a bounded subset of matrices as well as diagonal matrix having certain structure. For computational purpose, this convex optimization problem is further reduced into Generalized Eigenvalue Minimization Problem where a powerful algorithm based on interior point method has been recently developed..

  • Characteristic boundary conditions are discussed in conjunction with a flux-difference splitting formulation as modified from Roe's linearization. Details of how one can implement the characteristic boundary conditions which are made compatible with the interior point formulation are described for different types of boundaries including subsonic outflow and adiabatic wall. The validity of boundary conditions are demonstrated through computation of transonic airfoil, supersonic ogive-cylinder, hypersonic cylinder, and S-duct internal flows. The computed wall pressure distributions are compared with published experimental and computed data. Objectives of this paper are thus to give insight of formulation procedure of a flux-difference splitting method and to pave ways for other users to adopt present boundary procedure on their numerical methods.

  • 동적환경하에서의 JIT 생산 시스템의 운영에 관한 연구는 Terada, Kimura(1981), Bitran과 Chang(1985), Deleersnyder(1989), Mitra, Mitrani(1990) 그리고 Philipoom(1990)에 의한 분석적 모델의 발표로부터 시작하여 Terada와 Kimura(1981)의 다단계 연속 생산 시스템에서 간판 시스템에 대한 여러 가지 기본 공식의 제공, Bitan과 Chang(1985)에 다단계 스테이지의 조립생산 시스템에서 여러 가지 기본 공식과 해의 절차의 발표로 발전되어 왔다. 그 이후 Spearman 은 CONWIP을 이용한 간판 시스템의 변형된 형태를 연구ㆍ발표하였고(1990), Generic 간판 시스템에 대한 Chang과 YIH (1994)에 의해 연구되었다. Hybrid Push/Pull 시스템의 하나인 CONWIP 시스템은 현재까지 다른 시스템보다 정책면에서 동적인 기업환경에 적합한 것으로 평가받고 있다. 본 논문은 생산/제조 시스템의 운용에 대해 동적인 기업환경 하에서 고전적 kanban 시스템보다 우월하다고 입증된 CONWIP 시스템을 모형화하고 시스템 운영에 대한 실례를 들어 비선형 계획법의 하나인 내부점 알고리즘으로 수행, 해의 수렴과정을 고찰 기존의 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교 고찰하고자 한다.

  • Development of a model predictive control(MPC) algorithm and its application to the condensate recycle process of a cogeneration power station has been conducted. The cogeneration power station has different characteristics from other industrial processes where MPC has been dominantly applied in that the operating mode changes continuously with seasons and we Ether. Such a characteristic makes it difficulty, a linearized model was derived from mass and pressure balances and linearization. The MPC algorithm has been developed so that the controller tuning is easy with one tuning knob for each output and the constrained optimization is solved by an interior point method. Performance of the MPC algorithm has been verified with the numerically simulated process under various disturbance scenarios and mode changes.

  • This paper proposes a finite element method (FEM)-based model of an interior permanent magnet (IPM) type BLDC motor having stator inter-turn faults. For more realistic simulation studies, the magnetic non-linearity is also considered in proposed model. And the simulation data are verified through experiment. By integrating the developed model with a current-controlled voltage source inverter (CCVSI) model, the characteristics of an inter-turn fault operated by six-switched inverter are investigated considering the speed control. And the circulating current, which is induced by magnetic linkage flux originated from PM, was analyzed from the view point of distortion of air-gap magnetic flux distribution caused deterioration of their torque.

  • 무효전력 계획은 크게 계통운용계획과 투자비용계획으로 구분할 수 있다. 본 논문은 조상설비 투입계획 관점에서 주 쌍대 비선형 내점법을 이용한 조상설비 최적화 모의를 수행한다. 실 계통 규모의 대규모 계통을 모의하기 위하여 모선번호 ordering 기법 및 고성능 LU 분해 기법을 적용하였으며 조상설비 계획문제에 포함되는 이산변수의 처리는 투입위치 및 용량의 정수화를 통하여 최적화 문제에 이산변수를 포함하지 않도록 한다. 본 알고리즘은 2006년도 한전계통의 조상설비 현황을 바탕으로 하여 2008년도 계통상태에 대한 조상설비 투입계획 모의에 적용한다.

Task offloading under deterministic demand for vehicular edge computing

  • In vehicular edge computing (VEC) networks, the rapid expansion of intelligent transportation and the corresponding enormous numbers of tasks bring stringent requirements on timely task offloading. However, many tasks typically appear within a short period rather than arriving simultaneously, which makes it difficult to realize effective and efficient resource scheduling. In addition, some key information about tasks could be learned due to the regular data collection and uploading processes of sensors, which may contribute to developing effective offloading strategies. Thus, in this paper, we propose a model that considers the deterministic demand of multiple tasks. It is possible to generate effective resource reservations or early preparation decisions in offloading strategies if some feature information of the deterministic demand can be obtained in advance. We formulate our scenario as a 0-1 programming problem to minimize the average delay of tasks and transform it into a convex form. Finally, we proposed an efficient optimal offloading algorithm that uses the interior point method. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has great advantages in optimizing offloading utility.
