Multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) method has exhibited broad application prospects in the nondestructive detection of interfacial debonding in steel-concrete composite structures (SCCS). However, due to the structural diversity of SCCS and the high stealthiness of interfacial debonding defects, the feasibility of MASW method needs to be investigated in depth. In this study, synthetic parametric study on MASW nondestructive debonding detection for SCCSs is performed. The aim is to quantitatively analyze influential factors with respect to structural composition of SCCS and MASW measurement mode. First, stress wave composition and propagation process in SCCS are studied utilizing 2D numerical simulation. For structural composition in SCCS, the thickness variation of steel plate, concrete core, and debonding defects are discussed. To determine the most appropriate sensor arrangement for MASW measurement, the effects of spacing and number of observation points, along with distances between excitation points, nearest boundary, as well as the first observation point, are analyzed individually. The influence of signal type and frequency of transient excitation on dispersion figures from forwarding analysis is studied to determine the most suitable excitation signal. The findings from this study can provide important theoretical guidance for MASW-based interfacial debonding detection for SCCS. Furthermore, they can be instrumental in optimizing both the sensor layout design and signal choice for experimental validation.
The objective of this paper is to obtain three-dimensional (3D) effective properties for layered composites with imperfect interfaces using mechanics of structure genome. The imperfect interface is modeled using linear traction-displacement model that allows small infinitesimal displacement jump across the interface. The predictions obtained from the current analysis are compared with the 3D finite element analysis (FEA). In this study, it is found that the present model shows excellent agreement with the results obtained using 3D FEA by employing periodic boundary conditions. The prediction also reveals that in-plane longitudinal and shear moduli, and all Poisson's ratios are observed to be not affected by the interfacial stiffness while the predictions of transverse longitudinal and shear moduli are significantly influenced by interfacial stiffness.

Interfacial cracks in a piezoelectric layer bonded to dissimilar elastic layers under the combined anti-plane mechanical shear and in-plane electrical leadings are considered. By using Fourier cosine transform, the mixed boundary value problem is reduced to a singular integral equation which is solved numerically to determine the stress intensity factors. Numerical results for the effects of the material properties and layer geometries on the stress intensity factors are obtained.

The problem of conjugate laminar film condensation of the pure saturated vapor in forced flow over a flat plate has been investigated as boundary layer solutions. A simple and efficient numerical method is proposed for its solution. The interfacial temperature is obtained as a root of 3rd order polynomial for laminar film condensation, and it is presented as a function of the conjugate parameter. The momentum and energy balance equations are reduced to a nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations with four parameters: the Prandtl number, Pr, Jacob number, $Ja^{\ast}$, defined by an overall temperature difference, a property ratio R and the conjugate parameter ${\zeta}$. The approximate solutions thus obtained reveal the effects of the conjugate parameter.
In order for studying pressure-coupled dynamic responses of droplet vaporization, open-loop experiment of an isolated droplet vaporization exposed to pressure perturbations in stagnant gaseous environment is numerically conducted. Governing equations are solved for flow parameters at gas and liquid phases separately and thermodynamic parameters at the interfacial boundary are matched for problem closure. For high-pressure effects, vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics is rigorously treated. A series of parametric calculations in terms of mean pressure level and wave frequencies are carried out employing a n-pentane droplet in stagnant gaseous nitrogen. Results show that wave instability in view of pressure-coupled vaporization response seems more susceptible at higher pressures and higher wave frequencies. Mass evaporation rate responding to pressure waves is amplified with increase in pressure due to substantial reduction in latent heat of vaporization. Augmentation of perturbation frequency also enhances amplification due to the reduction of phase differences between pressure perturbation and surface temperature fluctuation.

Laminar film condensation of saturated vapor in forced flow over a flat plate is analysed. The problem is formulated as exact boundary-layer solution and integral approximate solution. From numerical solutions of the governing equations, it is found that the energy transfer by convection and the effect of inertia term in the momentum equation in negligibly small for low pressure but quite important for high pressure. The condensate rate, liquid-vapor interfacial shear stress and local heat transfer are strongly dependent on the reduced pressure $P_r$ and the modified Jacob number Ja/Pr.

Laminar film condensation of a saturated vapor in forced flow over a flat plate is analyzed by using integral method. Laminar condensate film is so thin that the inertia and thermal convection terms in liquid flow can be neglected. Approximate solutions for water are presented and well agreed with the similarity solutions over the wide range of physical parameter, Cp1(Ts-Tw)/Pr.hfg. For the strong condensation case, it is found that magnitude of the interfacial shear stress at the liquid-vapor interphase boundary is approximately equal to the momentum transferred by condensation, i.e., ${\tau}_i{\simeq}\dot{m}(U_O-U_i)$.

The interface between fluids of different densities is unstable under acceleration by a shock wave. A previous small amplitude linear theory for the compressible Euler equation failed to provide a quantitatively correct prediction for the growth rate of the unstable interface. In this paper, to include dominant nonlinear effects in a large amplitude regime, we present high-order perturbation equations of the Euler equation, and boundary conditions for the contact interface and shock waves.
In this paper we study steady capillary-gravity waves in a two-layer fluid bounded above by a free surface and below by a horizontal rigid boundary with a small obstruction, Two critical speeds for the waves are obtained. Near the smaller critical speed, the derivation of the usual forced KdV equation (FKdV) fails when the coefficient of the nonlinear term in the FKdV vanishes. To overcome this difficulty, a new equation called a forced extended KdV equation (FEKdV) governing interfacial wave forms is obtained by a refined asymptotic method. Various solutions and numerical results of this equation are presented.
