Heat Transfer and Solidification in the Inviscid Stagnation Flow (비점성 정체 유동 하에서의 응고와 열전달)

  • This study investigates the problem of phase change from liquid to solid in the inviscid stagnation flow. The instantaneous location of the solid-liquid interface is fixed for all times by a coordinate transformation. Finite difference method is used to obtain the solution of the unsteady problem, and the growth rate of solid and the transient heat transfer from the surfaces of solid are investigated. The transient solution is dependent on the three dimensionless parameters, but the final steady state is determined by only one parameter of temperature ratio/conductivity ratio. It is observed that the instantaneous heat flux at the surface of solid can be obtained with sufficient accuracy by measuring the thickness of the solid or vice versa.

  • Array of micro-dimple on polyoxymethylene (POM) surface was fabricated using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser and its characteristics were studied in terms of heat affected zone (HAZ), dimple geometry, and the effect of specimen surface roughness. Process parameters such as lamp current, process time, and the stream of air in order to minimize HAZ and flow of molten polymer into cavity were extensively studied in this work. Dimple geometry was further investigated by 3-D optical microscopy to provide deep insight into morphological analysis near the dimples. This paper also presents the applicapability of micro-dimples in polymeric tribological system, such as a thrust bearing. Micro-dimples were expected to provide low coefficient of friction and enhanced lubricity at the sliding interface.

  • A Practical application of environmental monitoring system based on wireless sensor node network with the core of embedded system STR711FR2 microprocessor is presented in the paper. The adaptable and classifiable wireless sensor node network is used to achieve the data acquisition and multi-hop wireless communication of parameters of the monitoring base station environment including repeaters. The structure of the system is proposed and the hardware architecture of the system is designed, and the system operating procedures is proposed. As a result of field test, designed hardware platform operated with 50kbps bit rate and 5MHz channel spacing at 2040Hz. The wireless monitoring system can be managed and swiftly retreated without support of base station environmental monitoring.

  • In this paper, a S/W system for a structural analysis of machine tools has been suggested. The system is so designed to reduce manual interfacing effort. An object-oriented language is used for making a graphic user interface. In this system parametric modelling technique is applied to construct a FE model without much user intervention. The FE model is automatically updated when the design parameters are changed by user. Not only single FE analysis but also a trade-off analysis for calculating the sensitivity information of design variables is possible using this system. All data generated by this system are saved in the database. So it possible to retrieve the result later without another analysis. It is found that the design time can be reduced and unnecessary operation avoided using this system.

  • We report solution-processed organic trilayer solar cells consisting of poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT), a conjugated polyelectrolyte (CPE) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM), wherein the effect CPE layer thickness on device properties was investigated. The current-voltage characteristics under illumination and dark as well as photoluminescence were characterized using various concentrations (0.02, 0.1, and 0.3wt%) of to deposit the CPE interlayer between the donor and acceptor layers. We also investigated the influence of molecular dipole moments in the trilayer solar cells by external stimuli. These results provide an experimental approach for investigating the influence of interfacial dipoles on solar cell parameters when placed between the donor and acceptor and allow us to obtaining fundamental information about the donor/acceptor interface in organic solar cells.

Characterization of SrRuO3 Conducting Thin Films Grown on p-Si (100) Substrates by Metalorganic Chemical Vapor Deposition

  • The SrRuO_{3}$ films for application of the bottom electrode were deposited on p-Si (001) substrates by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The films are characterized by various deposition parameters. The optimum deposition condition for SRO films is the deposition temperature of $500{\circ}C$, Sr/Ru input mol ratio of 1.0, and a flow rate of precursors of 15 ml/h. The films deposited by an optimum condition exhibited a single phase of SrRuO_{3}$, an rms roughness of 8 nm, and a resistivity of approximately $900{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$. The high resistivity of the films for application of a bottom electrode should be improved through a characterization of an interface.

  • Applications of bonded dissimilar materials such as integrated circuit(IC) packages, ceramics/metal and resin/metal bonded joints, are very increasing in various industry fields. It is very important to analyze the thermal stress and stress singularity at interface edge in bonded joints of dissimilar materials. In order to investigate the IC package crack propagating from the edge of die pad and resin, the fracture parameters of bonded dissimilar materials and material properties are obtained. In this paper, the thermal stress and its singularity index for the IC package were analyzed using 2-dimensional elastic boundary element method(BEM). From these results, crack propagation direction and path by thermal stress in the IC package were numerically simulated with boundary element method.

  • The ECG-NIBP patient monitor consist of Noninvasive Blood Pressure(NIBP) module that have micro controller inside. This module transfer data by serial communication to the main processor. This system apply the fuzzy inflating method to reduce the blood pressure measuring time, and moving artifact removing algorithm, several parameters used or more accurate measurement. The ECG monitor use the Digital Signal Processor(DSP) or digital filtering, peak detection, heart rate calculation. This system also offer convenient user interface by rotary key, menu bar. With 7" CRT display, auxiliary TFT LCD display adapted to display information on wide screen.

  • Friction welding was used to weld the turbine wheel and shaft and have a good welding quality. Friction welding was conducted an the two dissimilar material, Nimonic 80A and SNCrW. The control of friction welding process parameter such as flywheel energy, interface temperature, amount of upset have an effect on the mechanical properties of the welded joint. FE simulation can be a useful tool to optimize the weld geometry and process parameters. Flash shape and thickness weld is consistent with the simulated results. Process analysis was performed by the commercial code DEFORM 2D. Mechanical property of weld joints was evaluated by microstructure, chemical component, tensile, impact, hardness test so on.

  • This paper describes some research works of computer-aided design of blanking & piercing progressive die for stator and rotor parts by the press. An approach to the system is based on knowledge based rules. The developed system is composed of five main modules such as input & graphic interface, blanking feasibility check, strip layout, die layout and output module. Using this system, design parameters (geometric shapes, die generated in dimensions and dimensions of tool elements) are determined and output is generated in graphic form. Knowledges for tool design are extracted from the plasticity theories, handbooks, relevent references and empirical know-hows of experts in blanking companies. The developed system provides powerful capabilities for process planning and die design of stator and rotor parts.
