  • Objectives : There are very few researches on North Korea's academic activities. Furthermore, it is doubtful that the available data are reliable. This study investigated research activities and knowledge structure in the field of Preventive Medicine in North Korea with a network analysis using co-authors and keywords. Methods : The data was composed of the North Korean Journal of preventive medicine ranged from Vol. 1 of 1997 to Vol. 4 of 2006. It was the matrix of 1,172 articles by 1,567 co-authors. We applied R procedure for keywords abstraction, and then sought for the outcome of network forms by spring-KK and shrinking network. Results : To comprehend the whole networks explicitly demonstrated that the academic activities in North Korea s preventive medicine were predisposed to centralization as similar as South Korea's, but on the other aspect they were prone to one-off intermittent segmentation. The principal co-author networks were formulated around some outstanding medical universities seemingly in addition to possible intervention by major researchers. The knowledge structure of network was based on experimentation judging from keywords such as drug, immunity, virus detection, infection, bacteria, anti-inflammation, etc. Conclusions : Though North Korea is a socialist regime, there were network of academic activities, which were deemed the existence of inducive mechanism affordable for free research. Article keywords has laid greater emphasis on experiment-based bacterial defection, sustainable immune system and prevention of infection. The kind of trend was a consistent characteristic in preventive medicine of North Korea haying close correlation with Koryo medical science.

  • In an urgent situation of interdisciplinary research and method, we feel eagerly the necessity of discussing the philosophical background of ´the science of emotion and sensibility´. If human cognitive faculties lie in split dualism of sensibility and reason, it is difficult to find out the whole image of just recognition, Therfore, it is so important that we should pursue the interrelational context between reason and sensibility through the rationalization of sensibility and the sensibilization of reason. Both reason and sensibility constitute the immanant system of knowledge, The science of sensitive cognition has lower cognitive faculty in contrast to the science of logic, but commonsense plays a rloe to expand the world knowledge which the logical cognition can not fully accomplish. it is dur task to expand the problem of sensibility from the level of humanities on the ground of the communal to the scientific objecticity, which is based on the observation of natural appearances.

  • The Magnet Methodology is not the recording of knowledge, skills, techniques, and other information from the past, but creating a knowledge base using present issues of problems for students' and teachers' life-span development through the exploration of career choices and development. In short, it is the multi-cooperative information system for commensalism. It is the magnet program that connects various level of educational institutions under a certain theme and enables students to choose on their own. And this magnet program is being adminstered by the magnet school. And some regular schools provide magnet program as vocational educations and extra-curricular activities. Magnet program reflects the concept of desegregation which was proposed by the U.S. Federal Court decision against the racial conflict which had culminated in the 60s and 70s. Magnet program enables students to choose their own programs and schools, and gives teachers and students the opportunities to develop their teaching method and learning method. That's why magnet program is called continuous, future-oriented one. Teachers and students can also get fair judgement on their activities due to the voluntary magnet program. It mainly deals with practical issues, so it is very realistic to establish the multi cooperative information system including companies, homes, communities, or governments under these practical issues. The openness of magnet program is guaranteed not only by the characteristics of the program but also by the physical layout of the magnet schools. There are no doors and walls, and classrooms are facing one another and sharing all the opinions and information. This precisely corresponds to the concept of co-existence of eco-system and the interdisciplinary approach which is essential to solve our problems.

  • The objectives of this study are to investigate core learning ability necessary for the 21st century and to develop core human resources required for social and national development in the future. The '21st Century Learning Ability Project' is to approach the existing knowledge and learning multidisciplinary and interactively based on the learning ability of each learner and individually and socially valuable themes. Even in Korea, a variety of intersubject integrative educational curriculum was attempted to cultivate learning ability. However, there are not enough teachers who can teach the differences between the content and characteristics for each subject by fully understanding them. Thus, it is difficult to apply them easily to the field of education. Thus, this study develops the multidisciplinary customized educational curriculum in order to develop the learning ability necessary for the 21st century, analyzes the reality of the educational curriculum integrating the academic knowledge in order to support this effectively. As a result, this study offers the interdisciplinary customized integrated model applicable to elementary and middle schools.

  • Water problems recently, not only influence environmental issues such as water quality and water management but also influence socioeconomic issues such as poverty, gender, and regional conflicts. Therefore there is increasing attention on water education as part of the environmental education. Yet water education in formal education is only treated with particular subjects like science and social studies with limited contents which fails to cover the social, economic problems related to water thoroughly. Also, though there is an active water education on the field of informal education. its contents are also very limited. Water education requires the implementation of a comprehensive and holistic approach that can holistically consider economic and social problems as well as environmental problems. Therefore in this research, 'water education for sustainable development' is set up as a direction of contents development which include interdisciplinary and holistic aspects. Contents development of water education for sustainable development is an reflection of the experts and teacher's opinions and contain of: main category dividing into three pillars of sustainable development such as environment, economy, and society, and subcategory covering environmental science's objective including knowledge, skill, attitude, and action as well as local, national, regional, and global issues.

  • Personal creativity could be promoted and improved through many experience, training and various prior knowledge. This researcher had proceeded several preceding studies to find effective using methods of analogy for creativity enhancement. This study, following work of preceding studies aims to verify the effects of verbal and visual analogy for creativity improvement. Effect verification had been progressed by comparing the residential design results of two groups which are classified an experimental group consisted of sophomore college students with a comparative group consisted of sophomore university students. Consequently, the experimental group that had undergone many training on verbal and visual analogy in several preceding studies is superior to the comparative group in terms of creative design rate, sketch rate with high quality. Through this result it is verified that the using methods of verbal and visual analogy is very effective on creativity enhancement in interior design process. But the limitation of this study is that there were a few populations. Nevertheless, interdisciplinary this study will be used as a practical one to suggest a model on a teaching method and a theory for creativity improvement in interior design education.

  • Nowadays, research and development on quantum dot have been intensively and comprehensively pursued worldwide in proportion to concurrent breakthrough in the field of nanotechnology. At present, quantum dot technology forms the main interdisciplinary basis of energy, biological and photoelectric devices. More specifically, quantum dot semiconductor is quite noteworthy for its sub-micro size and possibility of photonic frequency modulation capability by controlling its size, which has not been possible with conventionally fabricated bulk or thin film devices. This could lead to realization of novel high performance devices. To further understand related background knowledge of semiconductor quantum dot at somewhat extensive level, a review paper is presently drafted to introduce basics of (semiconductor) quantum dot, its properties, applications, and present and future market trend and prospect.

  • As cities face increasing problems such as aging, environmental pollution and growth limits, we have been trying to incorporate sustainability into urban planning and related policies. However, it is very difficult to generate a 'sustainable spatial plans' because there are trade-offs among environmental, society, and economic values. This is a kind of non-linear problem, and has limitations to be solved by existing qualitative expert knowledge. Many researches from abroad have used the meta heuristic optimization algorithms such as Genetic Algorithms(GAs), Simulated Annealing(SA), Ant Colony Optimization(ACO) and so on to synthesize competing values in spaces. GAs is the most frequently applied theory and have been known to produce 'good-enough plans' in a reasonable time. Therefore we collected the research on 'spatial optimization model based GAs' and analyzed in terms of 'study area', 'optimization objective', 'fitness function', and 'effectiveness/efficiency'. We expect the results of this study can suggest that 'what problems the spatial optimization model can be applied to' and 'linkage possibility with existing planning methodology'.
