  • As the mobile telecommunications service market grows rapidly, interconnection opportunities from the fixed network to the mobile network increase and the land-to-mobile (LM) interconnection charge becomes critical factor in competition between fixed and mobile telecommunications service providers. This paper aims to evaluate the LM interconnection charge level in Korea in comparison with those of 36 foreign countries and suggest the regression model for the LM interconnection charge. Based on the regression analysis, we found that regulation, GDP per capita, wire telephone penetration, liberalization are identified as significantly affecting factors on the LM interconnection charge level, and the level of the LM interconnection charge is comparatively low.

  • Interconnection network is to provide communication among functional modules. The interconnections considered are Generalized Cube networks. Two situations are examined: a memory module is equally likely to be addressed by a processor and a processor has a favorite memory. This paper proposes the effective condition of operation in interconnection network through performance evaluation by simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a simple numerical formula which can estimate the additional delay time due to interconnection branches in general source-termination scheme. We show that interconnection branches have influence on both signal quality and time delay. Using the proposed numerical formula, time delay can be easily predicted by system designers.

  • In this paper, novel ball grid array (BGA) interconnection process using solderable anisotropic conductive adhesives (SACAs) with low-melting-point alloy (LMPA) fillers have been developed to enhance the processability in the conventional capillary underfill technique and to overcome the limitations in the no-flow underfill technique. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed technique, BGA interconnection test was performed using two types of SACA with different LMPA concentration (0 and 4 vol%). After the interconnection process, the interconnection characteristics such as morphology of conduction path and electrical properties of BGA assemblies were inspected and compared. The results indicated that BGA assemblies using SACA without LMPA fillers showed weak conduction path formation such as solder bump loss or short circuit formation because of the expansion of air bubbles within the interconnection area due to the relatively high reflow peak temperature. Meanwhile, assemblies using SACA with 4 vol% LMPAs showed stable metallurgical interconnection formation and electrical resistance due to the favorable selective wetting behavior of molten LMPAs for the solder bump and Cu metallization.

  • A block quantized binary phase hologram is introduced for optical interconnection and encoded with a simulated alogorithm to achieve high diffraction efficiency and superession of unwanted spots. The block quantized binary phase holograms encoded with the algorithm are fabricated with electron beam lithography and chemical etching. the fabricated holograms showed excellent perfoemances for optical interconnection.

  • The number of wind generation installations are growing substantially in Jeju, Korea. Many of these installations are significant in size and directly connected to the distribution system. Utility grid interconnection standards for interconnecting non-utility distributed generation systems are essential to both power system company and generation company. These interconnection standards are important to utilities, customers, wind generation manufactures and nation. In this paper, it is investigated the voltage quality and the suitability of Jeju-Hangwon wind power generation farm by network interconnection technology standard.

  • The key objective of this paper is to suggest a pilot model for mobile network interconnection charge calculation by bottom-up long-run incremental costing methodology. Interconnection issues have lately attracted considerable attention by network operators and regulators. However there is no standard by all the network operators' agreement. The costing method is an acute problem because the interconnection charge is directly related to the network operators' revenue. Thus Korea has planned to launch the new interconnection policy based on the current traffic distribution and then we simulate the model in a sample area with virtual data. The results propose objective and reasonable guideline for the mobile network element cost calculation. It can be helpful for calculating price floor or bottom-up long run incremental interconnection charge by regulator.

  • This Paper deals with the model of fixed-mobile interconnection. Specifically, how interconnection charge and originating price are determined when there is customer ignorance about terminating network or the price. This paper shows that the terminating charge with customer ignorance is higher than without that, and therefore the retail price becomes higher. This paper discusses the several methods to prevent the increase of the retail price and suggests the scheme to regulate the retail price and interconnection charge, simultaneously.

  • Interconnection of electric power systems, as an alternative for energy cooperation under regional economic bloc, has been under extensive debate before progressing the restructure in electric power industry and rapidly expanded in many regions after 1990s. Especially, since northeast asia has strong supplementation in resource, load shape, fuel mix etc., electric power system interconnection in this region may bring considerable economic benefits. In this paper, we evaluate economic benefits from CO2 emission abatement and effectiveness on the fuel mix in Korea by the interconnection in northeast asia. For this analysis, we evaluate effects of CO2 emission abatement under various system interconnection scenarios and compare the results of fuel mix in Korean electric power system with and without transacted electricity via interstate electric power system in northeast asia.

  • Frequency is the unique physical value for all the interconnected systems. Therefore. the load frequency control is in the responsibility of all members in the interconnection power unbalance in one of the interconnected system can cause the problems in others. In the following text a brief description and the role of frequency in an interconnected system will be presented. Following is the short description of the Balkan Interconnection (UCTE Second Synchronous Zone) with schematic diagram. A Power-Frequency (P-f) dynamic model of a control area wil1 be shown. Model gives the analytical solution for frequency change versus a time after outage of a generator in the power system. This model will be applied to the Balkan Interconnection and compared with numerical approach. Advantages and drawbacks of the analytical method will be discussed Purpose of using this model is to investigate if the pumps in reversible hydropower plant will be underfrequency shed after the outage of the biggest generator unit in the interconnection, according %o (n-1) security postulate.
