A Case Study of Improving Instruction by Utilizing Online Instruction Diagnosis Item Pool

  • One of the main factors that determine the quality of instruction is the teaching ability of the instructor administering the class. To evaluate teaching ability, methods such as peer review, student feedback, and teaching portfolio can be used. Among these, because feedback from the students is directly associated with how well the students feel they have learned, it is essential to improving instruction and teaching ability. The principal aim of instruction evaluation lies in the evaluation of instructor's qualification and the improvement of instruction quality by enhancing professionalism. However, the mandatory instruction evaluations currently being carried out at the term's end in universities today have limitations in improving instruction in terms of its evaluation items and times. To improve the quality of instruction and raise teaching abilities, instruction evaluations should not stop at simply being carried out but also be utilized as useful data for students and teachers. In other words, they need to be used to develop teaching and improve instruction for teachers, and consequently, should also exert a positive influence on students' scholastic achievements and learning ability. The most important thing in evaluation is the acquisition of accurate information and how to utilize it to improve instruction. The online instruction diagnosis item pool is a more realistic feedback device developed to improve instruction quality. The instruction diagnosis item pool is a cafeteria-like collection of hundreds of feedback questions provided to enable instructors to diagnose their instruction through self-diagnosis or students' feedback, and the instructors can directly select the questions that are appropriate to the special characteristics of their instruction voluntarily make use of them whenever they are needed. The current study, in order to find out if the online instruction diagnosis item pool is truly useful in reforming and improving instruction, conducted pre and post tests using 256 undergraduate students from Y university as subjects, and studied the effects of student feedback on instructions. Results showed that the implementation of instruction diagnosis improved students' responsibility regarding their classes, and students had positive opinions regarding the usefulness of online instruction diagnosis item pool in instruction evaluation. Also, after instruction diagnosis, analyzing the results through consultations with education development specialists, and then establishing and carrying out instruction reforms were shown to be more effective. In order to utilize the instruction diagnostic system more effectively, from planning the execution of instruction diagnosis to analyzing the results, consulting, and deciding how those results could be utilized to instruction, a systematic strategy is needed. In addition, professors and students need to develop a more active sense of ownership in order to elevate the level of their instruction.

학습자 중심 수학 수업을 위한 수업자료의 몇 가지 특징 (On Some Characteristics of Instructional Materials for Learner-Centered Mathematics Instruction)

  • 제7차 교육과정 이후로 학습자 중심 수업이 지속적으로 강조되고 있음에도 불구하고, 초등수학교과서에 제공되어 있는 수업자료로 수업을 할 때 학습자 중심 수업의 진면목이 들어나고 있지 않은 것이 현실이다. 이에 학습자 중심 수학 수업을 실천에 옮기기에 적합한 수업자료가 지녀야 하는 몇 가지 특징에 대하여 살펴보았다. 지속적으로 교육과정을 개정하고 그에 따른 수학교과서 개발시에 본 고에서 논의한 특징들이 반영된 수업자료가 개발되기를 기대해 본다.

  • 멀티미디어 교육의 중요한 목표 중 하나는 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 직접 저작하는 능력을 함양하는 데 있다. 이를 위한 방법으로 프로젝트기반의 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 저작 교육을 실시하고 그 효과를 검정해 봄으로써 더 나은 교수전략의 개발에 기여할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 멀티미디어 교육의 목표에 충실하기 위하여 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 저작을 위한 프로젝트 진행방식으로 대학에서 한학기 동안 멀티미디어 교육을 수행하고 그 효과를 학습자의 특성에 따라 분석하였다. 그 결과 학습자 개인의 특성 중 '나이', '편입학석부' 등에 따른 학습효과의 차이가 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 드러났으며 '프로젝트에 대한 관심도'와 '프로젝트에서의 역할' 등에 의한 성취도 차이도 뚜렷하게 나타났다.

컴퓨터 시스템의 발생개선을 위한 새로운 구성 (A New Design for Improving Characteristics of Computer System)

  • Recently, various kinds of computers with architecture different from the usual type of Neumann and Data flow machine have been studied for inproving computational speed. Among them, Feed Forward Computer(F.F.C.) has been remarkably developed. F.F.C. is a computer different from usual digital one in operating system. The usual computer executes operation and operand Fetch after executing instruction fetch and instruction decode. But conceptually, F.F.C. excutes instruction fetch, instruction decode operand fetch and combinational execution simultaneously. Accordingly, a suitable software is needed to operate high reliability and efficiency of this F.F.C. system. In this study, I aim at developing characteristics on highly reliable computer system which should be a blueprint of F.F.C. system in the future.

효율적인 ASIP 설계를 위한 자동 인스트럭션 확장 시스템 구축 (Construction of an Automatic Instruction-Set Extension System for Efficient ASIP Design)

  • 본 논문은 어플리케이션에 최적화된 ASIP설계를 하기 위해 MDL을 기반으로 한 Retargetable 컴파일러를 이용한 자동 인스트럭션 확장 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 어플리케이션 프로그램으로부터 얻은 정보를 이용하여 확장 가능한 인스트럭션 후보를 모두 찾는다. 확장 인스트럭션 후보는 하드웨어 라이브러리를 통해 실제 구현 시의 특성에 대한 정보를 얻게 된다. 하드웨어 특성과 수행 속도 향상을 기반으로 주어진 제한 조건에 맞게 인스트럭션 셋을 선택하고 프로세서 구조를 최적화한다. 제안된 시스템의 효용성을 확인하기 위해 다양한 벤치마크 어플리케이션을 이용하여 자동 인스트럭션 확장 시스템을 수행하였다. 제안된 시스템은 기존의 ARM9TDMI의 프로세서로부터 최적화된 인스트럭션 셋과 프로세서 구조를 갖도록 하였다. 제안된 시스템에 의해 설계된 ASIP는 주어진 제한 조건에 따라 기존 프로세서와 비교하면 평균 33.5%의 수행 사이클이 감소하는 것으로 확인되지만, 프로세서의 면적은 증가하는 것으로 측정되었다.

Freudenthal의 수학화 학습지도론에 따른 무리수 개념 지도 방법의 적용 사례 (A Case Study on the Introducing Method of Irrational Numbers Based on the Freudenthal's Mathematising Instruction Theory)

  • Freudenthal은 수학화 학습지도원리로서 수학의 역사발생 과정을 고려하고 학습자의 상식에서 출발하여 학습자 스스로 지식을 구성하도록 하는 것을 제시하였다. 이 원리를 무리수 지도에 적용한다면 무리수의 존재성을 파악하도록 하는 문제 상황에서 출발해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 Freudenthal의 수학화 학습지도론에 따른 무리수개념 도입 방식을 알아보고, 실제로 Freudenthal의 수학화 학습지도론에 따른 무리수지도 결과 나타나는 학습과정의 특징을 알아보았다. 교수실험에 참여한 학생들은 기존에 학습한 유리수 체계에 대한 반성적 사고를 통하여 무리수의 존재성과 무리수 학습의 필요성을 인식하였으며, 무리수의 역사발생적 배경에 따른 여러 가지 탐구 활동과 측정 활동을 통해 무리수 개념을 발전적으로 이해하면서 학습하였다.

Covert Channel Based on Instruction Gadgets in Smart Sensing Devices

  • In this paper, we design a covert channel based on instruction gadgets in smart sensing devices. Unlike the existing convert channels that usually utilize diverse physical characteristics or user behaviors or sensory data of smart sensing devices, we show that instruction gadgets could be exploited for covert channel establishment in smart sensing devices. In our devised covert channels, trojan smart sensing devices exchange attack packets in such a way that they encode an attack bit in attack packet to a series of addresses of instruction gadgets and decode an attack bit from a series of addresses of instruction gadgets.

웹기반 교육에서의 예비 유아교사의 학습자 특성과 학습효과간의 관계 연구 (Learning Effects of Web Based Instruction by Characteristics of Early Childhood Educators in Training)

  • In this study, 63 university seniors majoring Child Studies were in an 8-week Web Based Instruction (WBI) program. Student characteristics of learning motivation, self-regulatory learning strategy, and learning style (Kolb, 1985) were the independent variables. Learning effects as dependent variables were measured by paper test and work assessment. Spearman's $\rho$ was calculated and tests of rank order difference were used for the data analysis. Results showed that learning motivation and self-regulatory learning strategy had meaningful positive relations with learning effects on the paper test score. Learning effects showed differences by learning style. These findings indicated that the learner's characteristics should be considered in the design and development of more effective WBI environments.

초등 예비 교사들이 과학 수업 시연 계획 및 실행에서 고려하는 교과교육학지식 요소 (Pedagogical Content Knowledge Factors Considered by Pre-service Elementary Teachers in Planning and Implementing of Science Teaching Demonstration)

  • Recently there has been increasing emphasis on pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) for fostering science teachers' teaching professionalism that needs to be done from teacher training courses systematically. We investigated what were the PCK factors considered in planning instruction and the difficulties encountered in implementing it by pre-service teachers. In this study, 26 sophomores at an university of education in Gyeonggi province were asked to perform teaching demonstrations using scientific instruction models. They were also requested to write reflective journals and interview. Analyses of the results revealed that many pre-service teachers considered the teaching strategies such as the instruction organization and implementation when planning instruction. They had also regard to the learners' cognitive affective aspects, whereas the pre-knowledge of them was not properly considered. Especially, the curriculum and assessment were almost disregarded. Most of the difficulties encountered in planning instruction and implementing it were appeared in terms of the teaching strategies. For example, they had difficulties in considering the characteristics of each stage presented by the instruction models when planning instruction and implementing it. The frequencies of the difficulties in implementing experiment were especially higher than those of the other PCK factors. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

초등과학실험수업에서 탐구요구수준에 따른 학습의 효과: 인지적 영역을 중심으로 (The Effects of Science Learning with the Levels of Inquiry Requirement in Elementary School Science Experiment Instruction: on Cognitive Domain)

  • In this study the effects of science teaming with the level of inquiry requirement in elementary school science experiment instruction were investigated on cognitive domain. We assigned seventy-three students of the fifth grade into two groups according to the levels of inquiry requirement. After each instruction was implemented, the characteristics of the students' tearning science on cognitive domain were compared and analyzed with the levels of them. The higher level (HL) inquiry-required instruction was more effective in increasing and maintaining the memory on the science teaming than the lower level (LL). Especially, in the aspects of the experimental methods and taking cares which the students engage and perform actively rather than do passively, the memory scores of HL group were higher than those of LL. In addition, the memory scores and the degree of maintenance were higher among students who perceived the instruction as easy and interesting. In conclusion, the HL of instruction could stimulate the students to challenge the problems, thereby make them construct meaning actively and improve the amount and degree of maintenance of memory on science teaming.
