터널주행시의 고속전철의 실내 소음 (Interior noise of a KTX vehicle in a tunnel)

  • High-speed trains with the maximum speed of 300 km/h have started revenue services since April 2004. A large portion of the 'Kyung- Bu' line is comprised of tunnels or bridges, which may cause excessive noise in a vehicle. The vibration generated by the trains propagates into the structure of the tunnel and the vehicle and it can be radiated as noise inside the vehicle interior. This noise can usually be heard as low frequency structure-borne noise. Measurement of the noise and vibration inside the KTX vehicle confirmed that the noise comprises of frequencies below 250 Hz with a couple of broad peaks.

  • Epoxy composite reinforced with 3-D braided Glass/Aramid hybrid fabric was fabricated. FBG sensor was embedded along the braid yam in order to monitor the changes of the complicated inner region of the 3-D braid structure. The good linearity between Bragg wavelength and temperature was verified by several preliminary experiments. The strain inside 3-D braided beam was estimated using FBG sensor system, and the result was compared with the calculated value. It was found that FBG sensor system is very useful technique to investigate inside region of complicated structure.

  • A three-dimensional inlet flow structure inside a microfluidic element has been investigated using a micro-PIV(particle image velocimetry) measurement as well as a numerical analysis. The present study employs a state-of-art micro-PIV system which consists of epi-fluorescence microscope, 620nm diameter fluorescent seed particles and an 8-bit megapixel CCD camera. For the numerical analysis, a commercial software CFD-ACE+(V6.6) was employed for comparison with experimental data. Fixed pressure boundary condition and a 39900 structured grid system was used for numerical analysis. Velocity vector fields with a resolution of $6.7{\times}6.7{\mu}m$ has been obtained, and the attention has been paid on the effect of varying measurement conditions of particle diameter and particle concentration on the resulting PIV results. In this study, the microfluidic elements were fabricated on plastic chips by means of MEMS processes and a subsequent melding process.

Magnetization of a Modified Magnetic Quantum Dot

  • The energy dispersion and magnetization of a modified magnetic dot are investigated numerically. The effects of additional electrostatic potential, magnetic field non-uniformity, and Zeeman spin splitting are studied. The modified magnetic quantum dot is a magnetically formed quantum structure that has different magnetic fields inside and outside of the dot. The additional electrostatic potential prohibits the ground-state angular momentum transition in the energy dispersion as a function of the magnetic field inside the dot, and provides oscillation of the magnetization as a function of the chemical potential energy. The magnetic field non-uniformity broadens the shape of the magnetization. The Zeeman spin splitting produces additional peaks on the magnetization.

  • In case of ITO/MEH-PPV/Al structure, the quantity of charge carriers flowing through the organic material was few and the density of them is fixed. The electric field inside of the device almost didn't change with the position. On the other hands, in case of Au/MEH-PPV/Au structure, the hole density increased rapidly nearby the anode but decreased nearby the cathode. The space charge phenomenon followed sufficient hole injection resulted in the change of the electric field with the position inside of the device. We verified that the result of the current-voltage simulation corresponded with experimental result.

  • Polymer modified cement mortar (PCM) is commonly used as a repair material. However, in high-temperature environments such as fire, it is more likely to explode than cement mortar. The polymer is thermally decomposed at a high temperature to form a gas, and the gas remaining inside the structure increases the internal pressure to generate a burst. When an spalling occurs, the coating is peeled off and dropped, and high temperature is transmitted to the inside of the structure. In severe cases, even the reinforcing bar is exposed, which can lead to the collapse of the structural member due to severe loss of strength. In this study, in order to reduce spalling of PCM, a fiber mixing method was selected from the refractory method to find an appropriate blending ratio of fibers and polymers.
