2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 3~4학년 과학 교과용 도서 실험본의 '기초탐구' 단원의 효과에 대한 초등학교 교사의 인식 (Elementary School Teachers' Perceptions on Effects of 'Basic Inquiry' Units in Experimental Grade 3~4 Science Textbooks developed for 2009 Revised National Curriculum)

  • 'Basic Inquiry' unit was newly included in the grade 3~4 science textbook developed for 2009 revised national curriculum. The unit deals with six basic inquiry skills such as 'observation', 'measurement', 'classification', 'prediction', 'inference', and 'communication'. This study investigated elementary school teachers' perceptions on the effects of 'Basic Inquiry' unit by questionnaires (N=104 for pre-survey, N=90 for post-survey). The results showed that how the teachers have taught basic inquiry skills before this new textbook and how they perceived the educational effects of the unit after experimental teaching period in three aspects; development of basic inquiry skills, facilitating science learning in other units, and implementation of open inquiry. The reasons of positive perceptions as well as negative perceptions were analyzed and discussed with the suggestions for further study.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the longitudinal achievement of Science Inquiry Skills. The study compared two data sets collected in May 1992 and April 1993 using the TSIS(Test of Science Inquiry Skills). TSIS consists of 36items which measure 12 science process skills. TSIS's reliability(K-R 20) is O. 86 and test-retest reliability is O.7822.

속성배추를 이용한 식물 탐구 수업이 초등학생의 식물 개념 변화에 미치는 효과 (Effects of the Plant Inquiry Instruction using Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa on the Change of Plant Concept of the Elementary School Students)

  • This study is intended to develop plant inquiry instruction using Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa (RcBr) whose life cycle is relatively short, and to apply it to the elementary science instruction of the 4th grader and examine their plant concept, science inquiry skills and science-related attitudes. The materials were consisted of laboratory manuals for the students as well as teachers' guide. By observing the life cycle of RcBr, students can experience the conceptual learning of the plant's life cycle. In addition, this study investigated the cause of change in science inquiry skills and science-related attitudes by interviewing 12 students. It has shown that plant inquiry instruction using RcBr has meaningful effects on students' understanding of the plant concept, improving students' science inquiry skills, and changing students' science-related attitudes. Students who showed improvement in science inquiry skills were able to answer questions regarding science knowledge correctly. And students whose science related attitudes were improved had a positive attitude on cultivating RcBr. Students told that RcBr was an interesting and good material to inquire plant. Because of its small size and its relatively short life cycle of RcBR, it should be a desirable plant material for the inquiry instruction which can give rise to useful and meaningful results for the elementary school students.

탐구학습모형이 유아의 과학적 사고 능력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Inquiry Model on the Scientific Thinking of Preschoolers)

  • This study examined the effects of the inquiry model on children's scientific thinking ability and processing skills. The experimental classroom of a kindergarten in Seoul was assigned the inquiry model while the control classroom was assigned general scientific education (N=48). Seventeen treatment sessions were applied to the experimental group. Tests to investigate the hypotheses included the Sink and Float Test and a new instrument developed by the researchers. Findings showed that preschoolers receiving the inquiry model of instruction gained higher scores in scientific thinking ability and processing skills than the preschoolers in the classroom using the general scientific education model. In sum, this study proved the superior effect of the inquiry model in developing children's scientific skills and ability.

악기를 활용한 음악.과학 통합활동이 유아의 음악적 개념 및 과학적 과정기술에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Music and Science Integrated Activities Using Instruments on the Musical Concept and Science Inquiry Process Skill)

  • This paper investigated the effect of music and science integrated activities using instruments designed to test both musical concept and science inquiry process skills of children. The subjects of this study consisted of two classes of children aged 5 at H Kindergarten in Busan city. This study involved a class of 31 children using a music and science integrated curriculum as the experimental group and another class of 32 children using a traditional music and science curriculum as the control group. The integrated activities were used 12 times over a 6-week period. A test was taken to evaluate the effects of the integrated activities on the children's understanding on seven sub-categories of musical concepts and six sub-categories of science inquiry process skills. The results were that the experimental group showed significantly higher improvements in all subcategories of musical concept and science inquiry process skills, compared to the control group. Based on these results, we concluded that these integrated activities were effective in the development of both musical concepts and the science inquiry process skills of children.

  • This is very important to know teachers' and children's scientific knowledge, scientific inquiry skills and cognitive abilities for better education of children. The subjects of this study are about 60-150 in each group. There are instruments used ; To test scientific knowledge a test is developed by the author. To test scientific inquiry skills, the test developed by Eun Kyung Yong is used. To test cognitive abilities, GALT, short version is used. There are results; Firstly, inservice teachers' scientific knowledge is better than preservice teachers', which is better than children'. Secondly, inservice teachers' scientific inquiry skills nearly equal preservice teachers', which are better than children'. Thirdly, preservice teachers' cognitive abilities nearly equal inservice teachers', which are better than children'. Fourthly, teachers' (special area-science) cognitive abilities are better than teachers' (special area-vidual art, music, physical education). Elementary teachers in Korea have fundamental abilities to teach elementary children.

지구과학 탐구에서 통합 탐구 기능에 대한 학습발달과정 탐색 (Exploring a Learning Progression for Integrated Process Skills in Earth Science Inquiry)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 지구과학 탐구에서 통합 탐구 기능에 대한 학생들의 학습발달과정을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 과학 탐구 기능 발달과정 관련 문헌의 조사를 통해 '탐구 설계', '자료 수집', '자료 해석', 그리고 '결론 도출'을 발달 변인으로 설정하고, 각각에 대한 가설적 학습발달과정(HLP)을 4개 수준으로 개발하였다. 또한, 통합 탐구 기능에 대한 학생들의 학습발달과정을 조사하기 위한 도구로 3가지 지구과학 탐구 과제를 개발하였는데, 이들은 학생들이 주어진 문제 인식에서 출발하여 결론 도출에 이르기까지의 통합 탐구 기능을 포함하는 가설-연역적 탐구이다. 중학생, 고등학생, 대학생 총 126명을 대상으로 각각 개발된 지구과학 탐구 과제를 수행하게 한 후 HLP를 토대로 개별 학생들의 통합 탐구 기능을 요소별로 평가하였다. 또한, 학생들의 평가 자료를 Rasch 모델에 적용하여 HLP에 대한 타당화 과정을 거쳤다. 마지막으로, 분석 결과를 근거로 HLP를 수정 보완하여 경험적 학습발달과정을 개발하였다. 이 연구는 학생들의 통합 탐구 기능의 발달에 영향을 주는 요인들을 규명함으로써 지구과학 탐구 수업에서 학생들의 통합 탐구 기능을 효과적으로 향상시키기 위한 스캐폴딩 방안을 찾는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 지구과학 탐구 수업에 대한 교사들의 PCK를 향상시키는데 필요한 시사점을 제공한다.

상추 기르기를 통한 탐구활동이 초등학교 5학년의 과학탐구능력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Inquiry Activity through Growing Lettuce on Science Inquiry Skills for Five Grade Elementary School Students)

  • 본 연구는 초등학교 현장에서 교사와 학생이 쉽게 식물을 기를 수 있고, 초등학교 과학과 교육과정의 탐구기능을 연계하여 개발한 '상추 기르기-탐구 활동'이 초등학교 5학년생의 과학탐구능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 수행하였다. 대상자는 수원에 있는 H 초등학교 5학년 실험군 24명과 대조군 24명으로 구성하였다. 실험군과 대조군 모두 사전에 과학탐구능력 검사를 실시한 후, 실험군은 2013년 4월 5일부터 6월 14일까지 10주간 상추 기르기-탐구 활동에 참여하였고 대조군은 참여하지 않은 채, 사후에 과학탐구능력 검사를 한 번 더 실시하였다. 상추 기르기-탐구활동 프로그램에 의한 과학탐구능력은 실험군과 대조군의 집단 간 비교 결과 유의한 차이가 나지 않았고, 실험군과 대조군의 사전 사후 과 학탐구능력은 실험군과 대조군 모두 사전보다 사후에 유의한 증가를 나타냈다. 특히 실험군은 하위영역 중에서 관찰, 분류, 추리, 예상, 자료 해석, 가설 설정의 여섯 가지 영역에서 대조군보다 사후 평균값이 더 많이 향상되었다.

수준별 학습지 활용 수업이 과학적 탐구 능력과 태도에 미치는 영향 (Influencing on the Increase of the Scientific Inquiry Abilities and Attitudes by Using the Work-Sheets for the Differentiated Learning)

  • The aim of this study is to make it sure how pupils' science inquiry skills and attitude are influenced when they are taught by using the work-sheets for the differentiated learning according to their ability. In order to accomplish this aim, two classes of the fourth grade in the elementary school were distinguished into two groups: one was the experimental class and the other, the comparative class. The experimental class was given 52 hours of science lessons using the above sheets, and the comparative class, the general method of teaching. In order to compare their scientific interest and learning ability of the two groups each other, pupils were tested the standardized achievement in advance. The two groups were also given "ex post facto test" to measure the variation of their inquiry skills and attitude after the lessons. In addition, the experimental class was tested to measure their learning attitude after they are teamed the science with the sheets. The results of this study are as follows: 1. According to the percentile statistics of the science inquiry skills test between the two groups, the work-sheets for the differentiated teaming helped pupils develope their inquiry skills remarkably. 2. The work-sheets did not lead to significant difference between the learning ability of boys and girls. 3. The science lesson using the work-sheets showed positive influences in increasing pupils' scientific attitude. 4. About 77.2 percent of pupils accepted the excellent records of the evaluation in the science lesson using the sheets. It can be, therefore, concluded that the science lesson using the work-sheets for differentiated teaming is one of effective science lessons to increasing pupils' science inquiry skills, compared with the general teaching method.

텃밭가꾸기 체험활동이 유아의 탐구능력과 식생활 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Experience Activities for Kitchen Garden Cultivation on Children's Inquiry Skills and Dietary Attitudes)

  • 본 연구는 텃밭가꾸기 체험활동이 유아의 탐구능력과 식생활 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적을 갖고, 대전광역시에 위치한 어린이집 만 4-5세반 원아를 대상으로 실험집단 35명(남 20명, 여 15명)과 통제집단 20명(남 8명, 여 12명)의 총 43명을 대상으로 실험조사 하였다. 연구결과 텃밭가꾸기 체험활동이 유아의 탐구능력과 식생활 태도 향상에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이같은 결과는 유아들의 텃밭가꾸기 체험활동이 유아의 탐구능력과 식생활 태도 개선에 유용한 활동임을 입증해준 것이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 그동안 유아들의 식생활 태도 개선을 가정의 책임으로 간주하는 인식과 왜곡된 식습관 및 태도개선에 텃밭가꾸기와 같은 자연주제를 활용한 체험활동과 관찰참여의 탐구학습을 적극 권장할 수 있을 것으로 판단되며, 이는 유아들의 탐구학습을 통해 높은 교육효과를 기대할 수 있다는 측면에서 학제적 교육적 측면에서의 유용성을 시사한 것으로 볼 수 있다.
