  • The DF-MZEP-CME (decision feedback - maximum zero-error probability for constant modulus errors) algorithm that makes the probability for constant modulus error (CME) close to zero and employs decision feedback (DF) structures shows more improved performance in channel distortion compensation. However the DF-MZEP-CME algorithm has a computational complexity proportional to a sample size for probability estimation and this property plays a role of an obstacle in practical implementation. In this paper, the gradient of DF-MZEP-CME is proposed to be estimated recursively and shown to solve the computational problem by making the algorithm independent of the sample size. For a sample size N, the conventional method has 10N multiplications but the proposed has only 20 regardless of N. Also the recursive gradient estimation for weight update is kept in continuity from the initial state to the steady state without any error propagation.

  • The 304 stainless steel powders were prepared by high energy ball milling and subsequently sintered by spark plasma sintering, and the microstructural characteristics and micro-hardness were investigated. The initial size of the irregular shaped 304 stainless steel powders was approximately 42 ${\mu}m$. After high energy ball milling at 800 rpm for 5h, the powders became spherical with a size of approximately 2 ${\mu}m$, and without formation of reaction compounds. From TEM analysis, it was confirmed that the as-milled powders consisted of the aggregates of the nano-sized particles. As the sintering temperature increased from 1073K to 1573K, the relative density and micro-hardness of sintered sample increased. The sample sintered at 1573K showed the highest relative density of approximately 95% and a micro-hardness of 550 Hv.

  • The crystal structures of Nylon 6 films with the changes of pressure, temperature, and the processing time were examined. The accompanying physical property changes such as the weight fraction, the crystallinity, the crystal size, the initial modulus, and the thermal properties, gives the following results. When the sample is processed at 16$0^{\circ}C$, the weight fraction is not changed significantly with varying pressure. However, at 18$0^{\circ}C$ a significant change of the weight fraction was found with increasing pressure above 5 ton/in$^{2}$ so as to increase the crysallinity. As long as the ct transition is concerned we found that it begins from 14$0^{\circ}C$ and is completed at 18$0^{\circ}C$ and 9 ton/$in^{2}$ of pressure with the processing time of 120 min. The increase of the initial modulus is believed to be due to the increase of the number of the tie chains and the tension resulting from the change of the crystal size in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the applied pressure. The meltiong point change is due to the pressurized crystallization was not observed.

  • Porous tungsten oxide thin films were prepared by electrodeposition and tested as anodes of lithium secondary batteries. The synthesized films were composed of nanoparticles of 60-140 nm size, with porosities of 30-40 %. Increasing the temperature turned out to be a more effective approach to introduce porosity in the structure than increasing the electrolyte viscosity. The assessment of the synthesized films as anodes of lithium secondary batteries revealed a much higher initial discharge capacity for the porous than the dense samples. The discharge capacity retention significantly increased with increasing porosity and was further enhanced by heat treatment. In particular, a thin film composed of particles of about 140 nm in size and with a porosity of 40 % exhibited an initial discharge capacity higher than 600 mAh/g and a remaining capacity above 300 mAh/g after 30 cycles. Following heat treatment, the remaining capacity of this sample after 30 cycles increased to about 500 mA h/g.

  • In this paper, a design and estimation procedure for the stochastically dependent nonstationary multiple acceptance sampling plans is developed. At first, the rough-cut acceptance and rejection numbers are given as an initial solution from the corresponding sequential sampling plan. A Monte-Carlo algorithm is used to find the acceptance and rejection probabilities of a lot. The conditional probability formula for a sample path is found. The acceptance and rejection probabilities are found when a decision boundary is given. Several decision criteria and the design procedure to select optimal plans are suggested. The formula for measuring performance of these sampling plans is developed. Type I and II error probabilities are also estimated. As a special case, by setting the stage size as 1 in a dependent sampling plan, a sequential sampling plan satisfying type I and II error probabilities is more accurate and a smaller average sample number can be found. In a numerical example, a Polya dependent process is examined. The sampling performances are shown to compare the selection scheme and the effect of the change of the dependency factor.

  • This paper compares long-run buy-and-hold returns of privatization initial public offerings to those of domestic stock markets of respective countries using a sample of 29 privatized telecom initial public offerings from 27 countries. The evidence indicates that the privatization IPOs significantly outperform their domestic stock markets if the returns are equally-weighted while they do not outperform the markets if value-weighted. In addition, this paper analyzes the cross-sectional determinants of long-run buy-and- hold returns of privatized telecom shares. The results indicate that the long-run performance of privatized telecom IPOs is moderately related to the proxies of policy uncertainty or systematic risk while the size of the firm and some market wide variables such as the accounting standard, origin of commercial law, and the corporate governance scheme significantly affect the stock performance of privatized telecom shares.

  • This paper proposes a method to determine the initial shape and size of the suspension beam of an optical pickup actuator subjected to specified dynamic characteristics. For the analysis, a simplified model consisting of a concentrated mass, rotational springs and beams is developed. Based on this model, the key dimensionless design parameters are introduced, which govern low-frequency vibration characteristics i. e., the resonant frequencies in the tracking and focusing directions. A systematic procedure for sizing and shaping the actuator suspension beams is described and applied to a sample case. The effectiveness of the present technique is verified through the comparison of the present and the finite element results.

  • An auto sampling and filtering unit was developed for monitoring automation of a fermentation process and its performance was evaluated. The automatic sampling and filtering unit was constructed with a glass filter, a diaphragm suction pump, and a flow direction change valve. To evaluate operating stability, delivery volumes of the suction pump were measured according to the experimental conditions of cellulose powder, pore size of the glass filter and suction head of the pump. The developed unit could deliver the sample solution under any experimental conditions except the filter pore size of $16{\mu}m$ and the suction head of 20cm. In case of the suction head of 30cm, the pump could not deliver the sample solution at all. Concentrations of the sample solutions were converged on those of the standard glucose solution after 8 minutes from the initial sampling time. The relative error of concentration between the sample and the standard solution showed 3.8, 4.8, 7.0% for the 1, 3, 5% contents of cellulose powder, respectively.

  • This paper examines the post-IPO price volatility in the first trading days after the IPO of SOEs that carry out equitization, on a sample of 76 IPOs on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (Vietnam) in the period 2013-2018. Oversubscription rate, firm size, issuance size, internal equity ownership, and listing delay are all factors that influence IPO price volatility in a primitive stock market. The results showed that the average initial market-adjusted return for the first three trading days was -11.95%; -9.58% and -7.29% and the level of price volatility is related to the rate of oversubscription and company size. Issuance price, issuance size, internal equity holdings, and listing delay do not seem to contribute significantly to post-IPO share prices. Individual investors based their valuation on information released during and after the IPO. In general, the number of IPOs that yield positive and negative returns in the first trading days is about the same, indicating that the two phenomena of undervaluation and overvaluation still occur in the process of valuing shares of Vietnamese SOEs for IPOs.

  • We present the preliminary result from our KVN single-dish observations of the MALATANG sample. The MALATANG (Mapping the dense molecular gas in the strongest star-forming Galaxies) is one of the JCMT legacy surveys on the nearest 23 IR-brightest galaxies beyond the Local Group. The goal of the MALATANG survey is to map the sample in the dense gas tracers (HCN and HCO+J=4-3), and probe the relationships between the dense molecular gas and star formation activities. As a complementary study, we recently launched a KVN/KaVA program on the same sample, in order to measure their flux densities and parsec-scale jet/outflows in the millimeter regime, which will be greatly useful in understanding the initial conditions of the feedback process. In this work, we present the preliminary result from our pilot KVN single-dish program on a sub-sample, which will be used to select the future VLBI imaging study under plan. We investigate the KVN spectral energy distributions (SED) of the sample as a function of the power source of the luminous IR brightness of each target (starburst? AGN? or hybrid?). We also discuss the technical challenges that we experienced during our KVN observations due to the large size of the sample in the sky.
