Design Support Based on 3D-CAD System using functional Space Surrounding Design Object (설계대상물의 외부공간을 이용한 3차원 CAD 시스템에 의한 설계지원)

  • Concurrent Engineering(CE) has presented new possibilities for successful product development by incorporating various product life-cycle functions from the earlier stage of design. In the product design, geometric representation is vital not only in its traditional role as a means of communicating design information but also in its role as a means of externalizing designer's thought process by visualizing the design product. During the last dozens of years, there has been extraordinary development of computer-aided tools intended to generate, present or communicate 3D models. However, there has not been comparable progress in the development of 3D-CAD systems intended to represent and manipulate a variety of product life-cycle information in a consistent manner. This paper proposes a novel concept, Minus Volume (MV), to incorporate various design information relevant to product lift-cycle functions. MV is a functional shape that is extracted from a design object within a bounding box. A prototype 3D-CAD system is implemented based on the MV concept and illustrated with the successful implementation of concurrent design and manufacturing.

  • Recently, many companies and consumers are using Internet to sell and buy goods and manage their businesses. And for most companies, they have Electronic Commerce system and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. But the two systems manage separately and the data are not integrative. So it is hard to mangement the system alike and the costs may be higher than the system which has intergrated information. ebXML-based Electronic Catalog (e-Catalog) can provide intergrated information. In this paper, we took a manufacturing industry company for example. We planned to construct the e-Catalog System, analyze the products of the company as well as design e-Catalog system using ebXML to connect EC with ERPs.

  • This paper presents a computing system, called MEDICOS. that enables Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) technology for engineering design on distributed environments. In MDO, various legacy softwares have to be Integrated, so dynamic configuration and seamless coordination between these legacy softwares must be supported. MEDICOS is designed to address these issues by the Linda shared memory model-based design and the agent-based wrapper technology. A prototype system for engineering designs is developed and tested with designing a super high temperature vacuum furnace.

  • The existing 2D fashion Design System have a many limitation for application because diagraming piece database construct was weak as the function of design based on diagraming piece was low level. This paper design and construct the basic diagraming piece database to fashion design needed and through develop module of database search and modify, the system can easily manage the diagraming piece data and can create competitive and efficient design.

  • The purpose of this study is to construct a value-oriented sizing and cost estimation model for system integration projects. In particular, this study is to build a system architecture design and integration cost model, and a network design and implementation cost model. Unlike software development projects, system integration projects include knowledge-intensive professional services on system architecture and network design areas. Because of these work's high invisibility, the cost of these services is hard to estimate and measure. Therefore, we need to develop value-oriented cost models. This study presents 6 value-oriented cost models, and tests statistical significance of these models with real system integration project data. The results show that cost factors on these models are valid, and models are statistically significant. Future work is needed to integrate various cost models and apply the whole model to field projects to increase model's prediction accuracy.

  • This paper presents the design of a user authentication system (DCIAS) using the device constant information. Defined design a new password using the access device constant information to be used for user authentication during system access on the network, and design a new concept the user authentication system so that it can cope with the threat required from passive replay attacks to re-use the password obtained in other applications offer. In addition, by storing a password defined by the design of the encrypted random locations in the server and designed to neutralize the illegal access to the system through the network. Therefore proposed using the present system, even if access to the system through any of the network can not know whether any where the password is stored, and if all right even stored information is not easy to crack's encrypted to neutralize any replay attacks on the network to that has strong security features.

  • Faced with increasing competitive pressures to reduce time-to-market, many business organizations have recognized that shortening the design cycle by taking full advantage of their intellectual property is inevitable in maintaining their market share. This paper describes a knowledge management system for machine tool design. Product structuring, change management, and complex design knowledge management are possible through the developed system. The system can speed up the design process by making necessary data instantly available as it is needed and keeping track of all the relevant design information and knowledge including individual decisions, design intentions, documents, and drawings.

  • Around the world, BIM application has been mandated. In Korea, an announcement was made in 2016 that BIM application will be required for all public constructions ordered by the Public Procurement Service. However, BIM cannot be used for building permits as Seumter, a building permit system, doesn't support BIM, even if it was used for building design. To utilize BIM for permit application, this study introduces a method of management for BIM-used permit application information. It was done by analyzing the data entered for new building permit application in Seumter. For the analysis, the permit application information is classified as internal BIM information and external BIM information and the required information is defined. To easily create and utilize the data types at the design stage, this study introduces a method of creating and utilizing a permit template. Also, this study developed a tool for combining the area information to add up all the related information such as gross floor area and floor area ratio. This study is significant in that it analyzes the required information for new building permit application among all the permit application types in Korea.

  • This paper describes a web-based system called DESIGNER for the analysis and design for automated material handling equipment(MHE) applications in manufacturing. DESIGNER models the processes for system integration, economic analysis, performance analysis, and automated storage/retrieval system(AS/RS) design. Based on the information specified by users, the various analysis modules are invoked to meet the needs of the material handling applications. The results of the analyses provide system users with useful data for material handling system design and decision on investment in automated MHE. Example problems are also presented to demonstrate the use of the system.

  • Classification and Coding(C&C) systems as a core of design information management have been accomplished by many studies in terms of design and manufacturing attribute based on Group Technology. Those are very difficult to apply in make-to-order(MTO) manufacturing because the environment of MTO has various characteristics of product, many licensors, engineering change, insufficiency of integrated management system for codes and so on. This paper presents a suitable C&C system to MTO manufacturing which consider management level and drawing. The steps of developing the C&C system are as follows: 1) analysis of existing coding system and drawing type; 2) design of C&C system; 3) practice of designed coding system to a field.
