  • It is well known that inequalities enable us to analyze and solve complex problems with precision and efficiency. The inequalities provide powerful tools for establishing bounds, optimizing solutions, and deepening our understanding of mathematical concepts, paving the way for advancements in areas such as optimization, analysis, and probability theory. In this paper, we present some properties for Hadamard-Simpsons type inequalities in the classic integral and Riemann-Liouville fractional integral. We use the convexity of the given function and its first derivative.

A Review on Socioeconomic Position Indicators in Health Inequality Research (건강 불평등 연구에서 사회경제적 위치 지표의 개념과 활용)

  • Objectives : Socioeconomic position (SEP) refers to the socioeconomic factors that influence which position an individual or group of people will hold within the structure of a society. In this study, we provide a comprehensive review of various indicators of SEP, including education level, occupation-based SEP, income and wealth, area SEP, life-course SEP, and SEP indicators for women, elderly and youth. Methods and results : This report provides a brief theoretical background and discusses the measurement, interpretation issues, advantages and limitations associated with the use of each SEP indicator. We also describe some problems that arise when selecting SEP indicators and highlight the indicators that appear to be appropriate for health inequality research. Some practical information for use in health inequality research in South Korea is also presented. Conclusions : Investigation into the associations between various SEP indicators and health outcomes can provide a more complete understanding of mechanisms between SEP and health. The relationship between specific SEP indicators and specific health outcomes can vary by country due to the differences in the historical, socioeconomic, and cultural contexts of the SEP indicators.

Guaranteed Cost Control for Discrete-time Linear Uncertain Systems with Time-varying Delay (시변 시간지연을 가지는 이산 선형 불확실성 시스템에 대한 보장 비용 제어)

  • This paper deals with the guaranteed cost control problems for a class of discrete-time linear uncertain systems with time-varying delay. The uncertain systems under consideration depend on time-varying norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. We address the existence condition and the design method of the memoryless state feedback control law such that the closed loop system not only is quadratically stable but also guarantees an adequate level of performance for all admissible uncertainties. Through some changes of variables and Schur complement, It is shown that the sufficient condition can be rewritten as an LMI(linear matrix inequality) form in terms of all variables.

Econometric Analysis of the Difference in Medical Use among Income Groups in Korea: 2015 (한국의 소득수준 간 의료이용 차이의 계량적 분석: 2015)

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to estimate empirically whether there is a difference in medical use among income groups, and if so, how much. This study applies econometric model to the most recent year of Korean Medical Panel, 2015. The model consists of outpatient service and inpatient service models. Methods: The probit model is applied to the model which indicate whether or not the medical care has been used. Two step estimation method using maximum likelihood estimation is applied to the models of outpatient visits, hospital days, and outpatient and inpatient out-of-pocket cost models, with disconnected selection problems. Results: The results show that there was the inequality favorable to the low income group in medical care use. However, after controlling basic medical needs, there were no inequities among income groups in the outpatient visit model and the model of probability of inpatient service use. However, there were inequities favorable to the upper income groups in the models of probability of outpatient service use and outpatient out-of-pocket cost and the models of the number of length of stay and inpatient out-of-pocket cost. In particular, it shows clearly how the difference in outpatient service and inpatient service utilizations by income groups when basic medical needs are controlled. Conclusion: This means that the income contributes significantly to the degree of inequality in outpatient and inpatient care services. Therefore, the existence of medical care use difference under the same medical needs among income groups is a problem in terms of equity of medical care use, so great efforts should be made to establish policies to improve equity among income groups.

Control Allocation and Controller Design for Marine Vessel based on H Control Approach (선박운동제어를 위한 제어력분배 및 제어기설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the authors propose a new approach to the control problem of marine vessels that are moored or controlled by actuators. The vessel control system is basically based on Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) technology. The main object of this paper is to obtain a more useful control design method for DPS. In this problem, the control allocation is a complication. For this problem, many results have been given and verified by other researchers using a two-step process, with the controller and control allocation design processes carried out individually. In this paper, the authors provide a more sophisticated design solution for this issue. The authors propose a new design method in which the controller design and control allocation problems are considered and solved simultaneously. In other words, the system stability, control performance, and allocation problem are unified by an LMI (linear matrix inequality) based on control theory. The usefulness of the proposed approach is verified by a simulation using a supply vessel model.

  • This paper deals with the H$_{\infty}$ control problems for discrete-time linear systems with time-varying delays in states. The existence condition and the design method of the H$_{\infty}$ state feedback controller are given.   • This paper considers the problems of robust decentralized control for uncertain discrete-time large-scale systems with delays in interconnections and state feedback gain perturbations. Based on the Lyapunov method, the state feedback control design for robust stability is given in terms of solutions to a linear matrix inequality (LMI), and the measure of non-fragility in controller is presented. The solutions of the LMI can be easily obtained using efficient convex optimization techniques. A numerical example is included to illustrate the design procedures.

  • The multi-class traffic assignment problem is the most typical one of the multi-solution traffic assignment problems and, recently formulation of the models and the solution algorithm have been received a great deal of attention. The useful solution algorithm, however, has not been proposed while formulation of the multi-class traffic assignment could be performed by adopting the variational inequality problem or the fixed point problem. In this research, we developed a hybrid solution algorithm which combines GA algorithm, diagonal algorithm and clustering algorithm for the multi-class traffic assignment formulated as a variational inequality Problem. GA algorithm and clustering algorithm are introduced for the wide area and small cost. We also performed an experiment with toy network(2 link) and tested the characteristics of the suggested algorithm.

  • This paper has analyzed the problem of the inequality unit in 7th National curriculum 8-Ga stage from the following points. First, in respect to the written questions of the inequality unit over every textbook of 7th National curriculum, how are they allocated according to subject matters and what are their weak points? Second. how many of them are related to the authentic daily life or other subjects and what kind of subjects are they? Third, what are the problems related to the authentic daily life situation or what are the problems that have some inter-sentential errors, and what kinds of measures for their improvement can be taken? In keeping with view points above, we have analyzed the contents in current 16 different textbooks on th basis of their subject matters and especially put the emphasis on the relation to daily life and other subjects. Consequently, we found there are many textbooks that do not include various subject matters and that can not be related to various other subjects. It is necessary to connect mathematics to various daily life matters and other subjects to improve students' creativity and to make students understand the practicality of mathematics.

(Robust Non-fragile $H^\infty$ Controller Design for Parameter Uncertain Systems) (파라미터 불확실성 시스템에 대한 견실 비약성 $H^\infty$ 제어기 설계)

  • This paper describes the synthesis of robust and non-fragile H$\infty$ state feedback controllers for linear varying systems with affine parameter uncertainties, and static state feedback controller with structured uncertainty. The sufficient condition of controller existence, the design method of robust and non-fragile H$\infty$ static state feedback controller, and the set of controllers which satisfies non-fragility are presented. The obtained condition can be rewritten as parameterized Linear Matrix Inequalities(PLMls), that is, LMIs whose coefficients are functions of a parameter confined to a compact set. However, in contrast to LMIs, PLMIs feasibility problems involve infinitely many LMIs hence are inherently difficult to solve numerically. Therefore PLMls are transformed into standard LMI problems using relaxation techniques relying on separated convexity concepts. We show that the resulting controller guarantees the asymptotic stability and disturbance attenuation of the closed loop system in spite of controller gain variations within a degree.
