  • An efficient synthetic method for the preparation of quinolines through indium(III) chloride-catalyzed tandem addition-cyclization-oxidation reactions of imines with alkynes was developed. The processes can provide a diverse range of quinoline derivatives in good yields from simple imines and alkynes.

  • The crystallization process and the electrical properties of amorphous tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) films have been studied in contrast with those of undoped indium oxide (IO) films. Amorphous ITO and IO films were prepared by magnetron sputtering succeeded by annealing in the air at various temperatures. ITO films showed higher crystallization temperature compared with that of IO films, suggesting an excess free energy caused by the repulsion between the active donors ($Sn^{4+}$). The analysis of the electrical properties alternated with the phased annealing of films provided essential information for understanding the conduction mechanisms of ITO. It was also revealed that the amorphous IO/ITO films showed oxidation around $100^{\circ}C$ in contrast with crystalline IO/ITO films with the oxidation temperature above $200^{\circ}C$.

  • The optical gain of InGaN/GaN multi quantum well (MQW) resonant-cavity light-emitting diode (RC-LED) with different Indium composition and well width in the multi-quantum well was investigated. The optimized optical gain was obtained by simulating active region InGaN/GaN with some test values of well width and Indium composition. By simulation tool, we could simulate on several cases, and then we got exact well width and Indium composition that makes optical gain maximum due to the short wavelength of 470 nm for blue light emission.

  • Transparent conductive indium zinc oxide thin films were prepared by spin-coating a sol-gel solution. Zinc acetate dihydrate [$Zn(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}2H_2O$] and indium acetate [In$(CH_3COO)_3$] were used as starting precursors, and 2-methoxyethanol with 1-propanol as solvents. Upon annealing in a temperature range from 500 to $1000^{\circ}C$, the thin film crystallizes into polycrystalline $In_2O_3$(ZnO). The lowest electrical resistivity was obtained at an annealing temperature of $700^{\circ}C$ as $2{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$. Average optical transmittances were higher than 80% at all annealing temperatures. These experimental results confirm that the sol-gel spin-coating can be a good simplified practical method for forming transparent electrodes.

  • Indium tin oxide ($In_2Sn_{1-x}O_{5-y}$) nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method from stable indium tin acetylacetone complexes and postannealing at $600^{\circ}C$. The absence of chlorine ions shortened the synthesis process, decreased the particle agglomeration and improved the particle purity. The introduced complexing ligand acetylacetone decreased the obtained nanoparticle size. The improved powder properties accelerated the sintering of the $In_2Sn_{1-x}O_{5-y}$ nanoparticles and reached a relative density of 96.4% when pressureless sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$.

  • The ultraviolet and visible light responsive properties of the amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide thin film transistor have been investigated. Amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide (a-IGZO) thin film transistor operate in the enhancement mode with saturation mobility of $6.99cm^2/Vs$, threshold voltage of 13.5 V, subthreshold slope of 1.58 V/dec and an on/off current ratio of $2.45{\times}10^8$. The transistor was subsequently characterized in respect of visible light and UV illuminations in order to investigate its potential for possible use as a detector. The performance of the transistor is indicates a high-photosensitivity in the off-state with a ratio of photocurrent to dark current of $5.74{\times}10^2$. The obtained results reveal that the amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide thin film transistor can be used to fabricate UV photodetector operating in the 366 nm.

  • Allylindium and propargylindium reagents in situ generated from the reactions of indium with allyl halides and propargyl halides could participate as nucleophiles in Pd-catalyzed substitution reactions of allyl carbonates to produce 1,5-dienes and 1,5-enynes in good yields. $\beta$-Hydride elimination products were produced in case of carbonates having $\beta$-hydrogens. Because organoindium reagents obtained from allyl or propargyl halides and indium have previously not been used to Pd-catalyzed allylic and propargylic substitution reactions, these results should provide more opportunities for the development of new C-C bond forming reactions.
