We construct the index pairs of an isolated neighborhood for a dispersive dynamical system and investigate the existence of an index pair which is stable under small perturbations of the dispersive dynamical systems.

We have applied the TOMS aerosols retrieval algorithm to GLI measurements. TOMS has utilized the aerosol index, which is a measure of the change in spectral contrast due to the wavelength-dependent effects of aerosols. We have retrieved the GLI aerosol index, which is made by the pair of 380/400nm, 380/412nm, 380/460nm, and 412/460nm. We have found that the biomass burning aerosols represent the absorbing aerosols. In addition, the pair of 380/460nm has shown the best signal for detecting aerosols in Principal Component Analysis(PCA) and comparison of aerosol optical thickness from AERONET data. The theoretical aerosol index is also shown the best signal in the pair of 380/460nm.

In this paper we wish to introduce the concept of generalized relative index-pair (𝛼, 𝛽) of a p-adic entire function with respect to another p-adic entire function and then prove some results relating to the growth rates of composition of two p-adic entire functions with their corresponding left and right factors.

Chromosome size, number and shape were studied by the centromeric index, the arm ratio and the relative length of chromosome. The chromosomes of 50 early chick embryos which were derived from a pure line of Single Comb White Leghorns were examined. Using a colchicine, hypotonic treatment, fixation and air-drying technique, the clear prometaphase figures were obtained from the whole embryo. The results of the present investigation of chromosome pairs were as follows, 1. Pair 1 and 2; metacentric and submetacentric chromosomes which could be clearly distinguished from each other by size. 2. Pair 3 and 4: acrocentric chromosomes of similar length but the 4th pair had a distinct short arm which was not present in the 3rd. 3, Pair 5; metacentric sex chromosomes, 2 chromosome had relative 5th length but the W chromosome had slightly shorter length than 7th pair of chromosomes. 4. Pair 6; acrocentric chromosomes similar in shape to pair 3 but of little more than half the size. 5, Pair 7 and 8; acrocentric chrocentric but the 7th pairs had a definite short arm. 6. Pair 9; similar length to the 7, 8 pairs but had a medially placed centromere. 7. microchromosomes of 30 pairs ; nearly all acrocentric chromosomes which appeared as paired dots. The total number of diploid was appeared to 72-78. But a number of observations presented the total diploid number in 78 (58%). The inconstancy in number observed in this study was presumably due to the minute size of the microchromosomes. Thus, the modal numbers for the diploid chromosome was at least 78.

Let G = (V, E) be a graph with p-vertices and q-edges and let R^◦ be a finite zero ring of order n. An injective function f : V (G) → {r₁, r₂, _…, r_k}, where r_i ∈ R^◦ is called vertex pair sum k-zero ring labeling, if it is possible to label the vertices x ∈ V with distinct labels from R^◦ such that each edge e = uv is labeled with f(e = uv) = [f(u) + f(v)] (mod n) and the edge labels are distinct. A graph admits such labeling is called vertex pair sum k-zero ring graph. The minimum value of positive integer k for a graph G which admits a vertex pair sum k-zero ring labeling is called the vertex pair sum k-zero ring index denoted by 𝜓_pz(G). In this paper, we defined the vertex pair sum k-zero ring labeling and applied to some graphs.

We show that if M is a $II_1$-factor and a countable discrete group G acts outerly on M then Jones' index $[M:M^G]$ of a pair of $II_1^-factors is equal to the order $\mid$G$\mid$ of G. It is also shown that for a subgroup H of G Jones' index $[M^H:M^G]$ is equal to the group index [G:H] under certain conditions.

To ensure high quality data being used for data mining or feature extraction in the bridge structural health monitoring (SHM) system, a practical sensor fault diagnosis methodology has been developed based on the similarity of symmetric structure responses. First, the similarity of symmetric response is discussed using field monitoring data from different sensor types. All the sensors are initially paired and sensor faults are then detected pair by pair to achieve the multi-fault diagnosis of sensor systems. To resolve the coupling response issue between structural damage and sensor fault, the similarity for the target zone (where the studied sensor pair is located) is assessed to determine whether the localized structural damage or sensor fault results in the dissimilarity of the studied sensor pair. If the suspected sensor pair is detected with at least one sensor being faulty, field test could be implemented to support the regression analysis based on the monitoring and field test data for sensor fault isolation and reconstruction. Finally, a case study is adopted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology. As a result, Dasarathy's information fusion model is adopted for multi-sensor information fusion. Euclidean distance is selected as the index to assess the similarity. In conclusion, the proposed method is practical for actual engineering which ensures the reliability of further analysis based on monitoring data.

We review the algebraic structure of $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ and show that $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ has a scalar product that allows as to identify it with semi Euclidean ${\mathbb{E}}^4_2$. We show that a pair q and p of unit split quaternions in $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ determines a rotation $R_{qp}:\mathbb{H}{\sharp}{\rightarrow}\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$. Moreover, we prove that $R_{qp}$ is a product of rotations in a pair of orthogonal planes in ${\mathbb{E}}^4_2$. To do that we call upon one tool from the theory of second ordinary differential equations.

We propose a new pH-sensing scheme using a methylene blue adsorption on an optical fiber cladding surface. Interactions between the silica and hydroxyl ions of a base solution induce the surface of the silica negatively charged. The charged surface attracts the positively charged chromophores of methylene blue. As the pH of the solution is reduced, the electrostatic attraction will also be reduced. This electrostatic attraction can change the transmitted light intensity of the cladding mode, since the boundary condition changes. We also carried out a simulation to verify the effect from external refractive index change around a long-period fiber grating. Our results confirm that the wavelength shift by external refractive index change is negligible compared to the transmitted light intensity variation of the cladding mode. By using a long-period grating pair, we can detect the cladding mode transmittance variations. Experimentally, we showed the possibility of pH sensing in the $1.5{\mu}m$ infrared region.

Under the hypothesis that any pair of terms in the sentence is meaningful to present the context of the paper, the Brillouin measure of term relatedness in automatic indexing is proposed. For the experiment, the pair of terms simul-taneously appeared in two or more sentences of the paper are extracted from the title and abstract of the paper. Com-pared with the list of index terms or subject headings suggested by the author, the terms in term relatedness graph are highly matched with the terms in the list. Especially, it is revealed that the rank of terms by synthetic strength is use-ful in the selection of index terms.
