고속국도용 SB3등급 전이구간 방호울타리 개발 및 성능평가 (Development and performance evaluation of SB3-level roadside barrier for highway transition zone)

  • PURPOSES : In this research, an SB3-level roadside barrier for a highway transition zone that meets the newly established guide Installation and Management Guide for Roadside Safety Appurtenance is developed. Its performance is evaluated by a numerical simulation and real-scale vehicle impact test. METHODS : The commercial explicit dynamic software LS-DYNA is utilized for impact simulation. An FE model of a passenger vehicle developed and released by the National Crash Analysis Center (NCAC) at George Washington University and a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) model developed by the TC226/CM-E Work Group are utilized for impact simulation. The original vehicle models were modified to reflect the conditions of test vehicles. The impact positions of the passenger vehicle and truck to the transition guardrail were set as 1/2 and 3/4 of the transition region, respectively, according to the guide. RESULTS : Based on the numerical simulation results of the existing transition barrier, a new structural system with improved performance was suggested. According to the result of a numerical simulation of the suggested structural system, two sets of transition barriers were manufactured and installed for real-scale vehicle impact tests. The tests were performed at a test field for roadside safety hardware of the Korea Highway Corporation Research Institute. CONCLUSIONS : The results of both the real-vehicle impact tests and numerical simulations of the developed transition barrier satisfied the performance criteria, and the results of numerical simulation showed good correlation with the test results.

  • 본 논문에서는 Kim 등[7]이 제시한 4가지의 다른 밀도를 갖는 원통형 시험편으로한 EPP(Expanded polypropylene)의 준정적(Quasi-static test) 및 충격 시험(Impact test) DB를 바탕으로 Jeong 등[12]이 제시한 폴리우레탄(Polyurethane)에 대한 구성방정식을 EPP 폼에 대하여 다시 정의 하여 충격량-운동량 이론을 접목시켜 새로운 구성방정식을 제안하기위한 DB 구축을 목표로 하였다.

  • 복소수계수 $E^*$로 표현되는 아스팔트 콘크리트의 탄성계수는 아스팔트 포장설계에서 매우 중요한 입력변수다. 일반적으로 아스팔트 콘크리트의 탄성계수는 동탄성 계수시험 (Dynamic Modulus Test)을 사용하여 평가한다. 그러나 동탄성계수시험은 일상적인 시험법으로 적용하기에는 고가의 시험장비, 복잡한 시험장비, 많은 시험시간 등의 문제가 있다. 이에 반하여 충격공진시험(IR: Impact Resonance test)은 비파괴시험으로서 간편한 시험장치, 단순한 시험방법이며 반복성이 뛰어나다. 본 연구의 주요 목적은 충격하중의 타격위치 시편거치 방법 충격하중원의 특성, 신호획득 속도, 신호처리방법 등을 포함한 IR시험의 시험조건의 영향을 평가하는 것이다. 본 연구에서 적용한 모든 시험조건 범위에서 충격공진시험에서 측정된 결과의 변동은 ${\pm}2.7%$ 이내에 들었다.

저속충격시험을 이용한 고체추진제의 동적 응력-변형률 특성 연구 (Study on the Dynamic Stress-Strain Behavior of Solid Propellant Using Low-Velocity Impact Test)

  • 본 연구에서는 고체추진제의 동적 응력-변형률 특성을 고찰하기 위하여 저속충격시험을 수행하였다. 저속충격시험 시 충격체(Impactor)의 하중, 변위를 측정하여 고체추진제의 동적 거동을 확인하였다. 3점 굽힘 형태의 저속충격시험을 수행하였고, 이때 발생하는 국소변위와 길이가 짧고 두께가 두꺼운 고체추진제 시편의 전단 변위를 보상하여 순수 굽힘변위를 계산하였다. 보상된 변위와 측정된 하중을 사용하여 응력과 변형률을 계산하였고 응력-변형률 곡선으로부터 고체추진제의 동적 물성을 획득하여 이를 정적 굽힘 물성과 비교하였다. 운용 환경에 따른 온도별 고체추진제의 동적 물성을 획득하기 위해 상온, 고온, 저온에서 실험을 수행하고 결과를 비교분석하였다.

Macroeconomic and Bank-Specific Variables and the Liquidity of Jordanian Commercial Banks

  • This study aimed to explore the impact of macroeconomic (Real GDP growth (GDPG), Inflation rate (INF)) and bank -specific variables (profitability (ROA), capital adequacy (CADEQ), non-performing loans (NPL), deposit growth (DEPG)) on the liquidity (lIQ) of 13 listed Jordanian commercial banks for the period 2011-2018. Panel data analysis, Pooled least square, fixed effects model and random effects model, Lagrange multiplier test, and Hausman test were used. The random effects model output shows that, macroeconomic variables have a significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity since inflation has a positive impact while GDPG has a negative impact on banks (LIQ). On the other hand among the bank-specific variables capital adequacy and deposit growth have a positive significant impact on banks (LIQ), while (NPL) and (SIZE) have a negative significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity. But ROA has a negative insignificant impact on (LIQ). The findings of the study suggest that commercial banks departments need to pay attention to the economic and internal variables of banks in order to maintain acceptable levels of liquidity.

탄소섬유복합평판에 낙추충격을 가할 때 적층구성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Stacking Sequences using CFRP Laminate Plates by Falling Weight Impact)

  • Impact tester was build up to evaluate the characterization of CFRP laminate plates under the low velocity impact. The tests were conducted on several laminates of different ply orientation A system was budded for the impact strength of CFRP laminates in consideration of stress wave propagation theory using drop-weight impact tester as one of impact test. Results indicate that absorbed energy of quasi-isotropic specimen having four interfaces is higher than that of orthotropic laminates with two interfaces. Also the damage area was measured with ultrasonic C-scanner on some samples. In the specimens the relationship was linear between damaged area and absorbed energy to some degree. Absorbed energy in the specimen that ply number, interface number and fiber stacking sequences is same but having hybrid is higher than that of orthotropic laminates without hybrid.

Numerical study on the impact response of SC walls under elevated temperatures

  • A thermal-mechanical coupling finite element model of the steel-plate concrete composite (SC) wall is established, taking into account the strain rate effect and variation in mechanical and thermal properties under different temperatures. Verifications of the model against previous fire test and impact test results are carried out. The impact response of the SC wall under elevated temperatures is further investigated. The influences of the fire exposure time on the impact force and displacement histories are discussed. The results show that as the fire exposure time increases, the deflection increases and the impact resistance decreases. A formula is proposed to calculate the reduction of the allowable impact energy considering the fire exposure time.

용접열영향부 충격시험편 노치 위치에 따른 파괴거동 (Failure Behaviors Depending on the Notch Location of the Impact Test Specimens on the HAZ)

  • Numerical studies were performed to examine the effects of notch location of impact specimens on the failure behavior of HAZ (heat affected zone) when Charpy V-notch impact test were made at a low temperature ($1^{\circ}C$). Carbon steel plate (SA-516 Gr. 70) with thickness of 25mm for pressure vessel was welded by SMAW (shielded metal-arc welding) and specimens were fabricated from the welded plate. Charpy tests were then performed with specimens having different notch positions of specimens varying from the fusion line through HAZ to base metal. A series of finite element analysis which simulates the Charpy test and crack propagation initiating at the tip of V-notch was carried out as well. The finite element analysis takes into account the irregular fusion line and non-homogenous material properties due to the notch location of the specimen in HAZ. Results reveals that the energies absorbed during impact test depend significantly on the notch location and direction of specimen. Finite element analysis also demonstrates that the notch location of specimens, to a great extent, influences the reliability and consistency of the test.

에어백 장착 모터사이클 쟈켓의 성능 실험방법 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Motorcycle Jacket with Built-in Airbag)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a standard of guidance for testing the performance and safety of motorcycle jacket with built-in airbag. The method of testing were as follows: The effects of the motorcycle jacket with built-in airbag are experimentaly investigated according to neck injury of FMVSS 208. The experiment consists of the crash simulation test by shield and the impact test. The head and neck injuries are evaluated based on industrial standards. Also, the displacements of the head and neck and chest are observed by film analysis. Using the results of the crash simulation test, neck injury$(N_ij)$ is discussed and the peak chest deflection of the results of the impact test, chest injury is pursued. Neck injury$(N_ij)$ of the result of the crash test show that the chance of a serious wound is $18\%$ if rider wear the R&D motorcycle jacket with built-in airbag(Type A). Chest injury is expected by peak chest deflection of the result of the impact test. The result of the peak chest deflection show that the reduction effect in chest injury of Type A motorcycle jacket is $10.3\%$.

  • In domestic road construction sites, the compaction control based on strength are widely performed through the direct method with high accuracy, such as Plate Loading Test or Field CBR test. It is impossible to manage all construction sites using the direct method because the direct method requires heavy reaction loads and long measurement time. Therefore, it is necessary to apply the indirect method that could control the relative density of construction sites on the whole. Indirect methods, such as Cone Penetration Test and Fall Cone Test, require extra time for data analyzing and fixed area for test device. In this paper, the field applicability of Soil Impact Hammer (SIH) was investigated comparing with the results of field measurement tests and laboratory compaction tests. SIH developed by Japan Construction Administration and Asanuma Ltd., is a kind of indirect methods for compaction checking. According to the results of SIH performed in domestic road construction site, the subgrade reaction modulus obtained from SIH are similar to that from Plate loading tests in the range of 10 to 40. In comparison with laboratory compaction test, similar compaction line are shown in the dry side of optimum moisture contents.
