Advertising Effect by Clothing Advertising Involvement and Types of Advertising Appeal (의류광고 관여와 소구 유형에 따른 광고효과 -20-30대 직장여성을 중심으로-)

  • The objective of this study was to search out the motive and it's degree of the advertising involvement and to verify how the consumer's reaction have influenced on the effect of the advertising. In this study the questionaries used and objects were 236 working women form 20 to 39 years old. The dates were analyzed by reliability mean standard deviation percentage Duncan test t-test factor analysis correlation ANOVA and regression. The outcome of the analysis can be as follows : 1. Consumer's advertising involvement in the clothing goods was standing on 'Emotional' 'Expressional' or 'Economical' position. Among the factors affecting the consumer'sbehaviors. 'Usefulness' 'Like or Dislike' or 'Uniqueness' are the major 3 bases for perceptive evaluation 'Activity' 'Uncomfortableness' and 'Tranquility' are the 3 factors extracted from consumer's emotional reaction. 2 There was little difference in the size of advertising effect among the cluster types classified by each difference motive of the clothing advertising involvement. 3. Perceptive evaluation of the types of advertising appeal the non-sex-appeal advertising was inclined to "Usefulenss' or 'likes' while the sex-appeal advertising depending rather highy on 'Uniqueness' In respect of emotional reaction "Tranquility' was on non-sex-appeal advertising while more 'Activity' or 'Uncomfortable' feeling were on sex-appeal advertising. 4. In the light of 'advertising style' 'brand image' or 'purchase stimulation' the non-sex-appeal advertising was rather favorable received by the consumer's than the sex-appealing one. 5. All those surrounding factors excluding the 'uniqueness' are closely co-related to purchase stimulation.

The Effect of Appeal Type of Advertisement on Consumer's Prosocial Behavior: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Social Exclusion (메시지 소구유형이 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향: 사회적 배제의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Purpose - Previous studies on the influence of appeal types of advertising messages on pro-social behavior have shown inconsistent results. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the appeal type of advertising affects consumer's prosocial behavior. In particular, the authors investigated whether the social exclusion moderates the relationship between the appeal type of advertising and prosocial behavior. Research design, data and Methodology - To verify the hypothesis, two experimental study were conducted. The experimental study was 2(appeal type : self-benefit vs. other-benefit) by 2(social exclusion : being ignored vs. being rejected) between-subject design. Participants were randomly assigned to one of four conditions. The experiment was conducted using a computer. First, the participants was exposed to the advertising image used in the social campaign, and then responded to questions about social behavior. The participants completed the experiment after further responding to the item for manipulation check and demographic measure. The experiment took about 10 minutes in total. Results - In Study 1, a global warming campaign with participation intention variable, other-benefit ads rather than self-benefit ads drive consumers who feel socially rejected to be more willing and likely to participate, but consumers who feel socially ignored are more likely to participate the campaign in self-benefit ad than other-benefit ad. Study 2 replicates the findings, a child poverty relief campaign with an amount-to-donate variable: consumers who feel explicitly rejected allocate more dollars to the charity in response to other-benefit rather than self-benefit ads, but consumers who being ignored are willing to donate more money. Conclusion - This study has theoretical contribution in that it expands existing theories by explaining the existing inconsistent results of the message appeal influence on pro-social behavior through new control variables. In addition, the results have important managerial implications, suggesting marketers should tailor their marketing message to match the consumer situation.

  • As korean women despised to transform their appearance into totally different shape, and they regarded to enhance a inherent beauty ideal beauty, korean traditional make-up culture was natural. But in modern society, make-up has been developing as one of the beauty industry and it means make-up involves more meanings than primitive period and needs to study its multi-dimensional connotation to understand in the culture. The purposes of this study were to find out what was represented in make-up ad and how it has been changed. The data of this study were collected from make-up advertisement printed in 'Hyang Jang' which is a periodical of amole pacific cosmetic industry from 1972-2001, and qualitatively analysed. As a results of content analysis were: The characteristics of non-verbal expression in make-up advertisements were different by the time. Generally person-appeal advertisements were more than product-appeal advertisements. And in the 1970s and early 1980s, person-appeal advertisements were appeal to the lifestyle, but after that person itself was appealed. And also after early 1980s, image-appeal advertisements were increased.

A Study on Sensibility Image of Necktie according to Width and Color Combination of Checked Pattern (체크패턴의 폭과 색채조합에 따른 넥타이의 감성이미지 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the sensibility image of necktie according to width and color combination of checked pattern. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales. The stimuli were 18 color pictures, in which the width(small: 0.2cm, medium: 1cm, large: 2cm), tone combination(similar, contrast), and hue combination(WR: white+red, WB: white+blue, WG: white+gray) were manipulated. The 7-point scale was used for evaluation of sensibility image. The subjects of this research were 216 female college students living in Gyeongnam. The investigation was carried out at September 2009. The data were analyzed by using SPSS program. Analysis methods were ANOVA and Duncan-test. The results of this study were as follows.; The analyses of sensibility for necktie according to width and color combination of checked pattern revealed that the concerned factors are five characteristic dimensions of attractiveness, youth, appeal, elegance, and warmness. Width showed an independent effect on appeal. Tone combination showed an independent effect on attractiveness, appeal, elegance, and warmness. Interaction effects of width and tone combination on attractiveness were found. Hue combination showed an independent effect on all dimensions. In addition, significant interaction effects of width and hue combination on attractiveness, youth, appeal, and elegance were found. Significant interaction effects of tone combination and hue combination on attractiveness, youth, and appeal were found.

The Effects of Perception of Appearance Importance on Sportswear Benefits Sought, Evaluative Criteria, and Image Preferences of Female Consumers (여성의 외모 중요도 지각이 스포츠웨어 추구혜택, 선택기준, 선호이미지에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of appearance perception on sportswear benefits sought, evaluative criteria, and sportswear image preferences. The subjects were 530 female sportswear consumers who were residents in Seoul. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, multiple regression, ANOVA, and Duncan test. The results showed that there were two appearance perception factors: appearance interest and weight interest. Sportswear benefits sought had five factors of ideal figure/sex appeal, status ostentation, individuality/fashion, comfort, and youth-orientation. Sportswear evaluative criteria consisted of function, brand/fashion, and design factors. Sportswear image preferences had four factors: innovative, luxurious, simple, and active. Statistical analyses showed that there were significant effects of appearance perception on sportswear benefits sought, evaluative criteria, and sportswear image preferences. For example, the consumers who were interested in their appearances sought the benefits of ideal figure/sex appeal, status ostentation, individual/fashion in sportswear. Also, they considered brand/fashion and design as important criteria and preferred innovative and luxurious sportswear images.

  • This study systematically identified the influence of the school look fashion image on public culture, which is used for increasingly sexualized marketing appeal by domestic Girl Groups. We examined and analyzed the school look fashion image of Girl Groups, focusing on the Lolita complex which is particularly influential in the sexual appeal of domestic popular fashion. The method of this study is based on a literature review from the years 2007 to 2016, when the female girl groups began to receive attention. The music videos of the female girl groups in the top 100 charts of 'Melon' from 2006 to 2-16, which provides the largest mobile music service in Korea, were watched and analyzed as primary data. As a result, it was found that the 'school fashion look image' of adolescence which was used as costumes for Girl Groups, plays a role in commercializing the image of a 'girl', and the types and characteristics of school look fashion image are drawn in two ways. First, it is the image of a seductive Lolita complex. This is the case where young girls wear school look fashion image to emphasize their sexual maturity. Second, it is the case that is using the school look fashion image in order to perform with the 'young girl' concept, as an image of the enchanting Lolita complex; in addition, the erotic body image is more explicitly exposed through choreography and nakedness.

A Study on Makeup Image and Self-Consciousness According to the Level of Expected Socio-Psychological Effect of Makeup (화장의 사회.심리적 기대효과에 따른 화장이미지와 자의식에 관한 연구)

  • This study was made to investigate the differences in Korean woman's perceived makeup image and self-consciousness according to their expectation level in socio-psychological effect of makeup, and to gather information needed for the better understanding of cosmetics consumers and more effective marketing activities of cosmetics industries. Normative-descriptive survey method using questionnaire was employed for the present study. The survey was conducted in August 2001 and the sample consisted of 942 women between the ages of 18 and 50 residing in Seoul and Kyungi province. Data were analyzed by SPSS package. Factor analysis, ANOVA, and MANOVA were employed for the analysis of the data. The results are as follows : (1) Six factors emerged from the data related to the category of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. Those factors were named as "increasing positiveness", "refreshment", "covering weakness", "self-expression", "consideration for others", and "the tool for self-change". Four factors were found in the category of makeup image, and the factors were named as "refinement", "nobility", "favorable impression ", and "personality ". (2) There was a tendency that those who highly expect the socio-psychological effect of makeup have more positive self-image. Considering this differences in self-image according to the level of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. service activities for the consumers' positive opinion and attitude to the effect of makeup are needed, and it seems that those service activities will have a good influence on the consumers' emotional health. (3) Subjects with higher level of social anxiety showed higher expectations in refreshment, covering weakness and self-expression. Considering this trend, marketers have to make an constant effort for the variety of cosmetics and makeup manner by which consumers satisfy their expectation in makeup. It seems that the satisfaction of their expectation on the help of makeup effect will contribute to lessen social anxiety, and to get emotional stability. (4) Subjects with higher personal self-anxiety showed higher expectations of the effect. "increase of positiveness".   • The purpose of this study is to investigate the content and changes of modern Korean men's wear advertisement from the 1960s to the 1990s by reviewing fashion magazines and pictorials. Research problems were as follows.; First, analyze the types and their units of measurement in men's fashion advertisements from 1962 to 1998. Second, examine the differences of quantitative change in men's fashion advertisements according to each period. The total 857 advertisements were selected from Shin Dong-A, Joongang Magazine, and Bokjangwolbo from 1972 to 1998. For analyze the result, frequency analysis and $x^2$-test were used. Results were as follows. First, through the review of literatures and pre-tests, 6 units of measurement were identified. They were product type(formal wear, casual wear, sports wear, dress shirts, accessory, inner wear, fabric and the others), brand type(national brand, licensed brand, imported brand, others), appeal type(image, product, others), representation type(photograph, illustration, others), medium type(man, product, others), and color type of advertisement(black & white picture, color picture). Second, for the types of advertisements, formal wear, national brand, image appeal, figure medium, photograph for presentation and color picture are the most frequently shown in men's fashion advertisements from 1962 to 1998. Third, for product, more accessory advertisements were found than the clothing in the 60s and the 70s, and casual wear advertisements in the 80s and formal wear advertisements in the 90s were dominated. National brand type was dominant through all four period. Product appeal type in the 60s and the 70s and image appeal type in the 80s and the 90s were prevailed. For medium, product type in the 60s and the 70s and figure type in the 80s and the 90s were dominated. Black & white picture in the 60s and the 70s and color picture in the 80s and the 90s were prevailed. Lastly, photograph was the most frequently used for presentation type through all periods.

Reception Analysis of Liquor Advertisement for Female Consumer Based on Priming Effect (점화효과를 적용한 여성 소비자의 주류 광고 수용 분석)

  • This study started from the point that female consumers have powerful effects on selection and purchase of products. Liquor is consumed by men more than women, but a population of women drinking liquor is increasing due to "wellbeing and a tendency to lower alcoholicity" of soju. Through priming effects, this study estimated and tested how liquor advertising which had been made focusing on male consumers could appeal to female consumers and affect their purchase. The results of this study revealed that the subjects were partially influenced by priming effects when the experimental image and the interference image were connected to each other in terms of their meaning. This study showed that if scenes in advertising, no matter how short they were, were in a similar situation, priming effects occurred and consumers had a positive attitude toward behavior which appeared in the advertising. In order that advertising of male-dominated products such as cars in addition to liquor may appeal to female consumers, situational factors have to be suitable to create priming effects. If such priming effects are advertising making and arrangement, advertising can appeal to female consumers more easily.

The Effect of Emoticons on User Image making and Self-expression Satisfaction in MIM Communication (MIM커뮤니케이션에서 이모티콘 활용이 사용자 이미지메이킹과 자기표현 만족감에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we investigated the effect of users' emoticon usage on their satisfaction with image making and self-expression in MIM communication. We defined internal attraction, social appeal, and communication ability as personal image making factors due to the use of emoticons in MIM communication. And we defined the research hypotheses based on the definition of intimacy, openness, and social reality as relational image making factors. In MIM communication, we analyzed the questionnaire about emoticon users. As a result, emoticon usage was found to have a positive and significant effect on self-expression in relation image making rather than personal image making. The study implies that the use of emoticons can lead to image making in MIM communication and satisfy the satisfaction of self expression.
