In the modern Society, the human's way of thinking as well as the new cultural creation has been changing by bringing on a change rapidly. The moderns are demanding humanity and the new cultural cretion through the exchange between the old things and new things by setting material before everything else. The latest trends of today had an effect on the fashion Illustration, a new art category, which gives a new image. This report of research has a purpose which expresses korean images by connecting the korean tradition style to the modern fashion. And we are concerned about the national culture and tradition with the international stream. For this reason I studied these for the purpose of expanding expression area of sewing techniques by applying to fashion Illustration expressing handcraft techniques by natural beauty improving the modern and traditional images, updating, and succeeding to tradition. As the way of studying and contents, I referred to the inside and outside of the country's literatures, these, publications, magazines, or the internet sufing. Firstly, as the theoretical study, I studied a conception and history of the fashion Illustration. I studied the theoretical background of the sewing techniques through the histories, tools, and techniques. The theoretical background of the sewing handicraft is studied through the colors, patterns, materials and sorts. I also and indicated the various works by the domestic designers.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the expressional traits and meanings of body images in contemporary fashion illustration, based on postmodern body theories and body images in postmodern art. For achieving the purpose, this study performed related research works and undertook a demonstrative analysis of fashion illustrations. The results are as follows : The postmodern body theories not only opposed, deconstructed the traditional concepts and norms of body, but also revealed the suppressed facts of it. Also they composed the new concepts of body. The expressional traits of body images in postmodern art and contemporary fashion illustration were categorized as realistically presented body, distorted/deformed body, fragmented body, abject body, post-gendered body and absent body. Through these traits, the meanings of defiance to authority, revelation of reality, new creation were expressed. In conclusion, the various body images in contemporary fashion illustration reflect open concepts for human beings and give new aesthetic experiences.

Image which appears in fashion illustration on the late twentieth century is not the representative image as an equivalence to the real fashion styles but the virtual image which bears no relation to any reality. The purpose of this study is review the concept of virtuality and analyze in which way virtual image is expressed in fashion illustrations on the background of Jean Baudrillard's simulacre theory. In post-modem paintings the expression methods of image-virtualization were image mixing through photo-image appropriation, image overlapping, and the icons inserted unreasonably, the focus-out effect through scrubbing and the over-painting on the photograph. Image-virtualization in fashion illustration was expressed through image mixing and expression of image uncertainty. Image mixing was made by photo-image appropriation, image overlapping, connection of heterogeneous images and using interface image, and uncertain image was expressed through the expression of visual ambiguity and virtual movement.

The culture and society environment plays major role in the development of Fashion and now in the 21st century, interest in Fashion is getting increased along with the rapid progress of advanced media development and information surge. Now it s the time to extend visual efficiency not only transmitting fashion image but also develop a creative product that satisfy the demander s needs. Currently it is very hard to express our subjective Korean "nationalism" in the Fashion since the various expression skill using western fashion illustration are dominant in our society. I have classified two components, fashion illustration and Korean painting in the theoretical circumstance. In fashion illustration circumstance, I examined the concept, usage, expression skill and history referring to historical documents. In Korean painting section, I considered coloring portrait concept, pattern, history, concept, and feature of the four gentlemanly plants. including the basic material of Korean-paper, Writing- Brush, Ink-Stone, Traditional-ink and also the history of itself. I have designed 8 products applying the concept of plum blossoms, orchids, chrysanthemums and bamboos that represent the most important part of the four gentlemanly plants, and also the expression skill of Korean coloring portrait.rait.

성서의 내용 중에서 청소년들에게 선교용으로 알맞은 성구를 택하여 그 요지를 효과적으로 전달하기 위한 디자인 적 차원에서의 방법을 연구한다. 특히 인물 또는 주제의 표정, 의상, 동작의 reality 와 배경, 환경의 reality를 시대를 다르게 처리함으로써 classic과 contemporary한 것의 조화, 즉 과거 속의 현재, 현재에서의 과거를 초현실적 스타일로 강조하며 성구는 일러스트레이션과 한눈에 들어올 수 있도록 연결 감 있게 배치하여 단독매체로서의 포스터, 카드 등에 적용 가능한 사례를 개발함으로써 선교의 기능을 띤 성화와 성구를 함께 사용한 새로운 스타일의 일러스트레이션을 개발한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the expression characteristics of creative fashion illustration based on the theory of creativity by using the conceptual ideas related to visual expression in the theory of creativity of R. Bernstein. The contents of the study were theoretical basis of creativity theory and R. Bernstein's creative thinking tool. A specific checklist applying 13 creative thinking tools was developed to analyze individual cases and characteristics of creative thinking tools applied to visual arts and fashion illustrations. As a result, the application of a creative thinking method by the utilization, transformation and integration of R. Bernstein's thought tool yielded creative thinking about fashion illustration and the value of improvement creativity that can expand expression areas.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between thought systems of post-structuralism by Deleuze and digital culture which is the core topic of social and cultural discussion. And this study also aims to grasp the diversity and movable thinking shown in fashion illustration from the aesthetic thought systems of post-structuralism theory by Deleuze. Furthermore, this study intends to ascertain the concrete representation characteristics and its significance of fashion illustration by analyzing works on the basis of the above-mentioned theory. What are discussed in this paper can be summarized as follows First, this study examined the post-structuralism which supplies the theoretic basis for figuring out the principles of diversity and movable thinking. Second, this study examined the relationship between the open structure and movable individuality of Deleuze who is a representative scholar of post- structuralism. Third, this study analyzed the representative characteristics and aesthetic value to which the principles of post-structuralism, derived from the aesthetic theory of Deleuze, was applied.

The purpose of this study is to find out the creative visual expression in fashion illustration through the previous general theories on creativity. The creative visual expression, in fashion illustration works, can be summarized eight categories as follows. There are 'maximization & minimization'to emphasize the illustrators'emotions and contemporary trends, proposed specially in body expression, 'inversion' seen as the forms of contra-perspective, upside-down, rearrangement of parts, diverted process, etc, 'Unusual uses'to add the effect of caricature, parody, and humor to the fashion illustration works, 'extraordinary connection'seen as the shapes of various combination between animals, plants, stuff, and man, 'concealment & elimination'used frequently in creative visual expression includes a deformed human body, an abstracted human body, an extreme value contrast, simple colors, and dress in silhouette, 'association'seen in various methods; comparing the similar shapes, describing a certain situation or details for analogizing the whole, ‘illusion’ expressed in surreal, mysterious, and fairy depictions and 'substitution'to imitate the composition and colors of masterpieces, copy the parts.

This study examines research trends in the dissertations and theses on fashion illustration, as part of the necessity of the enlargement of this field into different areas and the importance of fashion research that will in the future. Currently, there are efforts to find the state of pervasive trends in thesis or that of dissertations in this area to help deter existing studies from producing mutually supplementary and constructive results. This also includes research that may have been overlapped in part or biased toward particular fields. This study is to solidify the research trend in papers and dissertations on fashion illustration in fields unexamined to suggest some of the right direction for research and development in fashion illustration. The selected data involved papers and dissertations published between 1990 and April 2009 by domestic graduate schools. To understand the research trend by item, descriptive statistics are utilized to acquire statistical data on the frequency and percentage in the creation of graphs. The findings of the study are as follows: There has been a steady increase in the rates of the theses and dissertations in this field in yearly domestic research fashion trends in illustration since 2002. In terms of the annual trend by the type of research, the number of the theses and dissertations on the production of works is larger than that of theoretical ones. This indicates that more attention should be given to theoretical research in this area. In regard to research themes and methods, many theses and dissertations were included with the production of works that showed a need to diversify the scope of research.
